Chapter 7 Crisis
"Let me ask you a question. What will happen if the Gold Group cuts ties with the Jeremy family?" Martin said as he asked the beautiful woman.
"I think the Jeremy family will be very miserable. They're supported by the Gold Group company, after all." The woman said.
"Really?" Martin said as he smirked.
The woman nodded enthusiastically. "Handsome, you can just call me Vita. What about you?"
"Hi, Vita." Martin smiled. "I'm Martin James."
Even though Martin wasn't necessarily dressed as an attractive man, Vita received a large sum of money from him, which made her think that he wasn't an ordinary man.
However, when Martin introduced himself, Vita hadn't recognized him as a famous person.
"How much is this glass of wine?" Martin said as he put down his cup.
"It's free of charge since you're so generous." Vita said as she smiled.
"Thank you." Martin said as he walked out of the bar.
He didn't like the bar at all, but he suddenly saw a familiar figure singing a random song.
A few moments later, he recognized the familiar figure and concluded that it was Janet Brown, the very person who tried to stop Regan from hitting Martin.
Martin then decided to spice things up and walk up to where Janet was. He thought the song that she was singing was a good song and he didn't exactly like it when people were screaming at her.
"Janet, I didn't expect to see you here." Martin said enthusiastically.
When Janet saw Martin, her eyes suddenly filled with panic. "W-What are you talking about? I'm not Janet"
"I doubt that meeting you was a coincidence, though. You really are Janet Brown, aren't you?" Martin said, smiling in the process.
Janet didn't know how to answer, so she simply didn't say anything.
"Janet, about what happened this afternoon, I just wanted to thank you. Would you let me buy you a drink so I can make it up to you?"
"Martin, I can't drink. If you really want to make it up to me, I want you to promise me that you won't tell anyone about this." Janet spoke in a pleading tone.
"I'm not really a person who likes gossip." Martin retorted. "However, I really want to know why you're here."
Janet sighed. "I needed money."
"You know you can work part-time jobs when you're running out of money, right? This isn't a place for a beautiful girl."
"Thanks for your concern Martin, but I'm safe as long as I just sing here."
Suddenly, a man wearing a suit came over.
"Manager Cook!" Janet shouted enthusiastically.
The manager simply took a glance at Martin then looked at Janet.
"Janet, what are you doing? Hurry up and get ready for the next song!" The manager said.
Janet simply nodded and decided to follow the manager.
"Wait a minute!" Martin suddenly shouted. "Janet, you're not going to sing anymore!"
The manager simply frowned. "Who are you anyway? Get out of my bar if don't want her to sing. What she does has nothing to do with you!"
Suddenly, Martin pulled out his money from his pocket and scattered it all over the floor. "Is this enough to persuade you not to let Janet sing?" Martin shouted.
The manager was dumbfounded. He didn't expect someone to literally just throw all their money on the floor.
Martin took out a handful of money from his pocket once again and threw it on the manager's face.
"I'm asking you if this is enough!" Martin said as he snapped.
"T-That's enough! "The manager nodded hurriedly.
The manager wasn't a fool, after all. He couldn't understand why such a simple person had so much money on him, but he didn't want to intervene anymore.
What was important to him was the money. And it was all over the place!
"Since that's enough, pick up the money and don't let Janet work here ever again!" Martin said angrily. Once he was done, he grabbed Janet by her wrist and forced her out of the bar.
"Martin, how can you have so much money?! You didn't do anything illegal, did you?" Janet said, a bewildered expression evident on her face.
"If I said I was Morgan Gracie's grandson, would you believe me?" Martin said with a smile.
"Y-You're Morgan Gracie's grandson?"
Martin sighed. "Look, if you don't believe me, then just think I won the lottery, okay?"
He then took another handful of money from his pocket and gave it to Janet.
"Take the money and don't sing in a place like this again."
"No! We're classmates. I don't want to owe you this much!" Janet said as she hurriedly tried to give back Martin his money. However, Martin didn't want to take it.
"There's nothing wrong with that. The world is unfair, after all. I don't want you to go through the things that I had." Martin smiled. "Don't worry, I won't tell anyone about what happened tonight."
After that, Martin just turned around and left.
Martin was about to take the ride back home, but then a thought suddenly occurred to him.
He was rich now, so a fancy car wouldn't be much of a hassle to buy. After all, he was now the grandson of Morgan Gracie.
But suddenly, a black car stopped in front of Martin and men dragged him inside the car.
"W-Who are you?" Martin asked as he looked at the four men in black.
"You don't need to know who we are. Don't worry though, we're just going to beat you into a pulp somewhere." A bald man said as he smirked.
It was then that Martin realized he didn't know how to defend himself.
"Were you sent by the Joseph family?" Martin asked with a frown. "Or maybe you were sent by the Jeremy family?"
"Shut up!" The bald man said as he glared at Martin.
Martin gritted his teeth. "No matter how much money they give you, I'm willing to give you twice as much!"
The bald man knew that Martin wouldn't give up and simply sighed. "Fine. The one who sent us gave us 1 million, so I want you to ramp up the price a little bit and give us 10 million instead."
