After fourteen months, Dr. Wilfred announced she was medically fit to walk and informed them that she needs a traumatic experience to regain her legs fully.
Luke thanked him and discussed with his family.
" I think we should talk to her about it" suggested Stella
" She won't listen. She might have an adrenaline rush and lock me out of her life again. I can't risk that" he blatantly refused
" I know Audrey, she's the see and believing type. We need a plan and a good one at that" said Lucas thinking of what to do.
" I have an idea. " Said granny whispering to them.
" Will she fall for it? Asked Hugh aware of her nonchalant behavior since the accident
" Then let's put her to the test," said Granny grinning.
" Shouldn't we have invited her friends over? Asked Bobby amused
" No. We need their participation. Let the game begin" said Hugh.
Audrey was at the gallery on the last floor looking at the beautiful paintings on the wall. Luke wrapped his hands around her firmly
" What's running through your mind? He whispered as she flinched at the sudden contact
" Nothing new. Wondering when I can walk properly. Resume work at the hotel. Fend for my mom and ascertain the growth of my company. Luke, it's been fourteen months. Ava is back from her honeymoon. I don't know everything seems fuzzy to me" she lamented exhaling resting her back on his chest
" You're better now. Wait some more okay? He comforted
" It's better than being a cripple I think. I hope I find myself again. The courageous fearless girl. Do you think I can do it? She looked up at him
" In the meantime Audrey. Everything in due time. I know You're stronger than this. " He stated as she sighed.
" I miss you, Audrey. I miss holding you to sleep" he muttered feeling wronged. Audrey preferred sleeping with her mom most of the time with the guilt of making him sleep with a cripple but she can move now yet she won't go to him.
" I know. I know" she whispered wondering where the wind of life is taking her to. How long will Luke have to endure with her? She doesn't seem right for him anymore. She just wants to get better if fate will grant her wish.
" Let's go inside. I want to hold you to sleep" he coaxed
" I love the scenery, Luke. I'm not sleepy. I can trust Roman with Lola, right? She asked changing the topic. She doesn't talk about themselves.
" We'll see. I guess they've to give us a show" he stated turning her to look at him
" What? Don't worry about me. I can't hang myself even if I want to, not in here anyway and I can't run away either. I'm stuck here " she murmured resting on his chest
" Perhaps you should move on. If you miss me that much while I'm living in the same house with you then I'm ruined. I don't know what to do about that. I'm clueless. Just let me know if you have fallen out of love with me. I won't blame you. No hard feelings. I can take it. No need to lead me on. " She coerced as his face darkens from anger
" Shut up if you have nothing to say. " He snapped walking out on her.
She leaned against the wall watching his retreating back. Her heartaches. But she can't do what he's asking for. She had to be certain of her future. Not on saddles and chairs.
She reflected on herself. Understanding maybe she was too harsh on herself but she can't put her hope on people. Everyone might change their mind later, hurting twice isn't a good experience. It's not every day she gets to meet a man as wonderful as Lucas Hamilton. She sighed walking slowly to her room.
She missed walking around the city which he restricted with the fear of her running away from him .' If she could run from Viola for years then she can do the same to him ' he thought which was her guess.
While having a siesta Stella ran past her in tears as she stopped her
" Mrs. Stella, what's wrong? She inquired as she kept sobbing
" They won't survive the shock. Audrey" she said between sobs
" What happened? Why are you like this? she asked worriedly taking a quick pace to comfort her
" It's Luke, we received a call that he had an accident minutes after he left home" she announced as Audrey's eyes widened in shock. She made him angry. She didn't have time to think if he was driving or not .she felt cold immediately
" Audrey? Stella snapped a finger at her stunned face
" Luke!? Oh God " she exclaimed dashing out of the garden to the gate. run is an understatement. She sprinted thinking of how she treated him after he had been a wonderful and understanding man to her for fourteen months. How dare she say those words to him,' she thought blaming herself.
" Genevieve, Take me to him or give me the keys" she ordered as Genevieve stared at her legs then at her and could see she was serious. Damn the annoying part of her is back she thought.
" Now. " She commanded though she followed her orders not that it was hers.
She drove out of the house in high acceleration due to Audrey's persuasion.
" Calm down. He's been resuscitated. He lives" but she wasn't ready to take that chance. She can't lose him to her wild imagination.
