Melissa sat on a bench in a quiet place, after what she had gone through that day, she just wants to be left alone. She had called Molly several times but it kept on going to voicemail mail.
"This is Molly, you know what to do". Molly's teasing voice repeated the same phrase for the fifteenth time.
Thank goodness she brought her laptop, she wouldn't have known what to do at that moment. Within the next two hours, she was done with her online lecture and was preparing to make another call to her lover.
"This is Molly, you know what to do".
In a rage, she exchanges her phone for her violin. In years, she had learned how to control her mood swings without letting anyone notice.
Different thoughts filled her mind, like how she was going to pay for her next month's rents. Since the first day she arrived at the new apartment, she had never talked to her father or heard about him.
If it was only the rents it would have been better. She still had many other problems to worry about, like how she would feed, how she would go to school maybe take cabs or subway, how she would clothe when most of her clothes are worn out, how to get tampons, or even about Ryan's phone!.
That gave her an idea, if she could get to Sam, she could borrow some money and pay it back when she gets to hear from her father. She flinched as her phone vibrated on her body.
"Speaking of the devil" she grinned "I was just about to call you Sam".
She held the phone with her neck and shoulder as she began to arrange her violin into its pack and her laptop in a laptop bag.
"I'm few miles away from my house but I am coming now".
With a rare smile, she walked away.
"You won't believe I had sat out there for 3 hours Leah" she pout "I nearly felt like crying. Molly is not picking up and your guys were out".
It didn't take much for her mood to be lightened before she began to run-walk. At last, she had someone to seek advice from or tell about her problem.
She saw Karen walking off the elevator immediately she was about to enter. She felt confused, she even had to stare again to be sure she was seeing the right person.
The marks Karen had on her face were not seen, probably covered by the heavy max of face foundation. Her lips still had a slight wound mark even with the purple lipstick coating them. Totally ignoring her, she rushed in.
"Did you guys meet her?" She asked.
Leah scoffed, dismissing the talk with the winkle of her fingers. "I feel great I didn't see her if not.... Oh my gosh melissa what happened to your neck?".
Melissa hissed in pain as Leah check her neck, mistakenly brushing her fingers on the injury. Sam join, they both looked horrified.
"Were you trying to commit suicide?". Sam whispered.
Melissa shrieked, she closed her eyes and yelled "Why the fuck will I do that? I have many more years to live and besides I am fine".
"Did someone try to break in or something?" Leah lead her to the couch "I don't understand! This looks too serious".
"Guys I'm fine, I mistakenly choke myself when I was trying to get a bar of chocolate off my throat". Melissa lied.
With their mouths and eyes open, Sam and Leah yelled "What!" In unison.
"Do you think we are stupid or dumb or maybe both?" Leah sound pissed "What the fuck are you lying about melissa".
Melissa froze, scared. She didn't want something more to happen so she just stood up and tried to walk to the room but Sam blocks her. She moved to the other side but Sam did the same thing.
"I'm fucking calling the cops, and I will lie to them someone broke in and tried to rape you".
"That's not fucking true! I can explain this" Melissa muttered, "just give me some time".
"Did Karen try to kill you?".
Melissa chuckled softly, Her big brown eyes went bigger as she moved her stray red hair off her face.
"If you had seen her you would have seen what I did to her face".
Sam crossed both hands under her breast, her lips twist in disbelief and she looked at Leah who also has the same look.
"I'm freaking serious about this guys" Melissa moved closer "Yesterday when I closed from school, I went home with Molly. The truth is that Molly and I had been in a kind of secret relationship but I want it open now".
Sam blinked "This is unbelievable!".
"I actually spent the night at her place...".
"You guys had sex?" Leah wiggled her eyebrows.
Melissa blushed, she covered her face with her palms revealing her bruised knuckles to her friends.
"Did you get into a fight with her after sex?". Sam exhaled "oh fuck shit! What...".
Melissa smiled "I disorganized Karen's beautiful face." Her smile increased, she was smiling ear to ear like she had defeated a lion.
"Them what happened to your neck?".
"It was Williams".
Sam brought out her phone and began to dial something. "I am calling the cops on him".
"No!" Melissa snatch the phone "I kind of pissed him off, I spoke I'll against his mother after he suggested I have twosome with him.
"That's disgusting!" Leah frowned "Have you guys talked about sex before?".
Sam eyed Leah, a very disappointed look appeared on her anger face "You are impossible Leah! What the heck?".
Leah shrugged "Just saying" she raised both hands "I give up, but this is trash. He has no fucking right to harm her".
"Are you still saying we shouldn't call the cops" Sam suggested, it sounded more like a rhetorical question "Okay I get That. You were beating up his girlfriend and he held you".
Melissa nodded gently, she walked towards the window and began to stare at the busy sight of the street. She remembered when Karen was behind Williams and the way he had to say harsh and arrogant things to her.
"There is something strange about them" she put her index finger on her lips "He sounds too arrogant and harsh to her. He even suggested we both agree to do the twosome with him".
She turned back to meet the anxious faces of her friends "I think they had broken up before, he tried to take her back but he is too arrogant and proud to be committed".
"Why do you say so?" Leah crooked her brows "They seem perfect".
"You can't tell".
"That's not my problem" Sam hissed "No Matter what you had said, he shouldn't have tried to kill you" She moved back to the couch and collapsed on it "Where the fuck is Molly, by the way, she had refused to pick my calls".
"Even mine" melissa sound worried.
"Awww" Leah pout "I want to be a lesbian".
Melissa blushed again, she waved her left hand as she walked to her room, she returned a second later with a new outfit. She had a matching scarf that covered her neck, she wouldn't want Molly to be worried about her well-being.
"Let's go check up on Molly". Leah said, pointing her index finger up.
"I just said that" Sam hissed.
"Well coming from the oldest I think it kind of means more" Leah smirked as she threw the car key at melissa "You are driving".
"No!". Melissa half-shouted almost immediately.
Sam and Leah looked puzzled.
"I mean 'no?'" melissa smiled "I can't drive".
Sam scoffed, she took the key as she walked out, saying something melissa didn't bother to listen to.
At that moment what she cared about was seeing Molly first. During these few hours, she had been having these strange feelings like Molly was doing something bad!
That wasn't what she was supposed to think about, at least not at that moment. She was supposed to think about her real problem. Like her rents and other things.
As they drove in awkward silence, many things wandered around her void mind. Like how she was going to finally meet Ryan. Or should she just imagine she didn't see it and forget the phone thinking if Ryan had really wanted it, she would have come looking for it.
Luckily she had found Ryan's apartment but the bad news was that she doesn't stay home for long. She stays around once or twice a month.
Waving off the thoughts she stepped out of the car immediately Sam killed the engine. The only thing that could calm her would be a pain killer hug from the love of her life. Molly.
Blushing badly, she rushed in.
For what seemed like centuries as she stood transfixed, she wished she had never tried to visit.
Seeing Molly wrapped in a strange dude's arm scattered her heart more.
