From inside the car, Ye Ranran spoke with a trace of bitterness in her voice, “Thanks for earlier.”
If not for his timely arrival, she wouldn’t know how to extricate herself from that situation.
She hadn’t intended to want the house at all, but she hadn’t expected that despicable pair to be so nauseating.
That being the case, she was no longer going to hold back.
Before Jun Mochan had a chance to say anything, Ye Ranran’s phone rang.
“Director, oh, okay, I’ll be right there.”
When Ye Ranran finished her call and looked up, she noticed that Jun Mochan had already made a U-turn in the direction of her office.
He was a surprisingly considerate man.
“How did you know where I work?” Ye Ranran asked, coming to a belated realization.
She began to suspect, since he seemed to know so much about her, her husband to be, was he perhaps plotting something?
“As I said, you’ve satisfied my criteria.”
He didn’t elaborate, but Ye Ranran understood that he must know who she was.
Otherwise how could this exceedingly busy man just conveniently appear when she needed him.
“Don’t worry, I have no other intentions.
I just need a marriage, and it seems that you do too.
I’m quite satisfied with you, that’s all.”
Indeed, she had nothing to lose at this point, and he, with his towering influence and power, had nothing to take from her.
With that thought, Ye Ranran felt somewhat reassured.
Seeing her visibly relax, Jun Mochan continued, “Also, Mrs.
Jun, does a husband really need to be thanked for helping his wife?”
Did she know, her gratitude irritated him as if she was trying to create a boundary between them.
His eyes overflowed with warmth and concern, like a placid lake into which one could easily sink.
Ye Ranran thought, for whatever reason he had sought her out, as long as he did not betray her, she would be content with him.
Upon her return to the office, she noticed a slight change in her colleagues’ expressions as they looked at her.
Ignoring that, she walked back to her workstation with her head held high and chest puffed out.
After placing her belongings down, Ye Ranran headed towards the director’s office.
“Knock, knock.” She politely knocked on the door.
In the office, besides the director, there was another person — Zhao Yue Li.
Both of them had an unusual flush in their faces.
Pretending to not to notice, Ye Ranran stood at attention, “Director.”
“Ranran, you must be aware of our impending collaboration with S.Z Magazine?”
“Yes.” Ye Ranran nodded.
As a fashion designer employed with a medium-sized apparel enterprise, she knew that the company was planning a collaboration with the top domestic S.Z Magazine.
With her wedding around the corner, she had planned to postpone it, but now something had come up.
So, there goes her break.
Back to work directly.
S.Z Magazine wants us to present ten fashion designs.
This task falls on you and Yue Li.
You two will share the workload.”
Amongst the designers in the company, only she and Zhao Yue Li were official designers, the others were more like assistants.
Thus, this result didn’t surprise Ye Ranran.
“Is there anything else, Director?”
“Submit your designs within half a month.
That’ll be all for now, you may leave.”
Ye Ranran felt the urge to strangle the director.
It must be really easy for him since he’s not the one doing the work, right?.
On top of having a good grasp of the trends, the designs needed to cater to the taste of the magazine’s readers.
As Ye Ranran flipped through the magazine in her hand, her mind went blank.
The phone on her desk rang, out of the blue.
Without glancing at the caller ID, she picked up and said, “Hello.”
“Where are you?” Jun Mochan’s tender voice echoed through the line.
“I’ll come pick you up.”
Staring at the disconnected call on her hand, Ye Ranran felt a headache coming on.
She hadn’t even had a chance to reject his offer.
Why did this man have to be so domineering?
