To his astonishment, in Hu Xue’er’s mind, aside from an unexpected closeness to Xu Ziqing, all it harbored was an insatiable appetite, fixated solely on Jiuxuan Meihu’s heart, yearning to tear it out and devour it alive!
Contrary to what he heard earlier, these two foxes, seemingly father and daughter, were actually bitter enemies, set on killing each other. Was it a peculiarity of beasts to drive father and daughter to such extremes? Or was there an undisclosed mystery?

Caught in the gaze of Jiuxuan Meihu’s blood-red eyes, Hu Xueer felt as if thorns covered its body. The relentless intent in its chest yearned to pounce on him immediately, tear out his heart, and devour him alive!
The nature of their conflict was evident—the fox before it, related by blood, was its eternal adversary, prey, and a source of great nourishment. Fully aware that consuming this heart would result in immediate growth and assist its master, the two monsters locked eyes in a fierce standoff, each unwilling to yield an inch!
Observing the situation, Xu Ziqing furrowed his brow. This wasn’t the opportune moment for Xue’er to confront the Fox King, and although the Fox King’s proposition couldn’t be accepted, Xu Ziqing promptly declined, stating, “Xue’er has been adopted as my beast pet; I’m afraid I cannot fulfill the Fox King’s request.”
The pupils of Jiuxuan Meihu contracted suddenly. “You’re not interested in knowing the price?” he inquired.
Shaking his head, Xu Ziqing replied, “Principles stand firm, regardless of the cost.”
Jiuxuan Meihu deeply gazed at Xu Ziqing, and the blood in his eyes gradually faded. No longer exhibiting the beastly behavior from earlier, he regained composure and allure, reminiscent of their initial encounter. Controlling all emotions and desires, he smiled, saying, “It doesn’t matter.”
Raising his eyebrows, he continued, “The two of you are unusual, especially…this one.”
When Jiuxuan Meihu mentioned exchanging Hu Xue’er for consumption, Xu Ziqing felt a heightened sense of alienation, and Yun Lie’s unyielding intent to kill persisted. The sword once again targeted the Fox King. Though he appeared calm, a bead of sweat on his forehead hinted at his inner turmoil.
Gently stroking Hu Xue’er’s back, Xu Ziqing infused true energy to calm it. Gradually, the hostility dissipated, leaving Hu Xue’er tranquil and lively.
Addressing them, the Fox King remarked, “This cultivator’s emotions are frozen, and his skills are quite unique. Could it be… the way of ruthless killing swords?”
Yun Lie cast a cold glance, devoid of mercy. “Now that you know, understand that this place will be your final resting place,” he declared. The desire to kill intensified and sword intent surged.
