The System Makes Me a Player Chapter 4

Since discovering the system, Kelvin hadn’t stopped training and completing the missions given to him. A new Chapter was beginning for him, now that he was entering high school, leaving middle school behind. He had always been someone who learned things very quickly and dedicated hours of his day to studying, which is why he earned a spot at Sanu School. A school well known for its extremely dedicated and intelligent students. The first thing he did upon arriving wasn’t going to the library, meeting his classmates, or getting to know the teachers... It was something completely different. "Augusto, where do I sign up for the school’s soccer club?", Kelvin asked, his voice revealing clear restlessness. "The soccer club? he muttered, averting his gaze from the boy The coach is Rafael, the physical education teacher for the first years. You should talk to him." Augusto, the school principal, was quickly caught off guard by the question, as most students at Sanu weren’t interested in sports, making it rare for someone to ask about them. Kelvin began leaving the principal’s office, inspecting the room as he did. The walls were covered in a subtle dark wood texture, contrasting with the soft glow of natural light coming in through the large window behind the desk. Long beige linen curtains were half open, letting the light shine over hundreds of books stacked on side shelves. Some shelves held framed certificates, academic awards, honors from the city council, and commendations, but not a single soccer trophy. There was also a large photo of the school’s first graduating class, students neatly dressed in uniform, with Augusto himself smiling proudly in the center. The principal’s desk was wide, made of solid wood, its surface impeccably polished. On it were a brushed metal lamp, papers neatly sorted in labeled folders, a closed laptop, and a porcelain mug with the school’s emblem. In the right corner of the room stood a small glass cabinet holding relics from the school’s history: old balls, medals, photos of tournaments, all from decades ago when sports still mattered there. It looked like a forgotten shrine. Kelvin observed it all in silence, showing no interest in any of it. To him, the only thing that mattered was figuring out how to join the team. His eyes only paused on photos that showed soccer fields or anything remotely related to the sport. He left the office and gently closed the door. He sighed as he pulled out his phone and saw that there were only two minutes left until the bell rang for class. Though he loved soccer, he knew well he couldn’t miss class. At his old school, staying on the soccer team required high grades and good behavior, so it was best not to be late. The most update n0vels are published on 𝙣𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙡⁂𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙚⁂𝙣𝙚𝙩 The walk to his classroom wasn’t far, the principal’s office was downstairs. All the classrooms were on the second floor, and his was no different. He climbed the stairs and, turning left, found a wooden door with a window, likely serving as a small view panel. Above it, the sign read “Class 1-A.” That was his. He took a deep breath and entered. Everyone seemed very shy, it was the first day, after all, but Kelvin didn’t care. He just sat at any desk. Right after sitting down, a tall white man appeared, with a full beard and a completely bald head. "Hello, class!", He smiled brightly. "I’ll be your PE teacher! My name’s Rafael." Kelvin widened his eyes at the name, but he knew it wouldn’t be appropriate to ask about the soccer club during class, so he decided to wait. "Teacher, you’re the soccer club coach, right?" A voice behind Kelvin surprised him. He frowned, thinking it was rude to ask such a thing during class. Rafael was a bit surprised too, but then smiled. "I am, yeah. Planning to join?", he asked, walking toward the student. "Not sure... maybe", the student answered in a casual tone. Kelvin frowned without turning around. Something felt off. Rafael chuckled lightly, as if not taking the question too seriously. "Well, if you’re really interested, practices are on Wednesdays and Fridays after class. Feel free to come check out the group." Kelvin took a deep breath. He almost felt like he’d missed the right moment to speak up, but chose to wait until the end of class. He knew the importance of doing things the right way, at the right time. The class went on for a few more minutes as Rafael gave a short introduction to the semester’s content, talked about the importance of physical education not just for the body but also for mental discipline, and ended with a few notes about the uniform. When the bell rang, most students got up quickly, relieved it was break time. Kelvin, however, waited for the room to empty a bit before approaching Rafael. "Teacher, my name is Kelvin. I’m the student who spoke with the principal earlier. He said I should talk to you about the club" Rafael turned, more attentive now. "Oh, I’m glad you came to talk to me. You want to join the club?" "Do you have experience? Ever played on a team?" "Only in school tournaments back at my old school. But I train every day." Rafael’s eyes narrowed slightly. For a moment, Kelvin thought he might laugh or dismiss the comment. But instead, the teacher nodded slowly. "You seem pretty serious, kid. That’s good. Meet me at the court tomorrow after the last class. Bring cleats and proper gear. Nothing fancy, just be ready to show me something" Rafael extended his hand, and Kelvin shook it firmly. Kelvin left the room without rushing. As he walked through the hallways, the system in his vision began to flash a new alert: [Mission: First Soccer Club Training] [Objective: Make a strong first impression on Coach Rafael and earn recognition from club members] [Reward: +1.5 to Random Attribute / +30 XP] Kelvin smiled as he made his way to the school cafeteria.
