The System Makes Me a Player Chapter 17

End of the first half. The pairs head to the bench on the side. Kelvin sits on the floor, taking deep breaths. Sweat drips down his forehead, but his eyes remain sharp. Ian, also out of breath, stretches his legs beside him. "This is a massacre", he says, smirking from the corner of his mouth. Alisson, their team’s goalkeeper, approaches and crouches down. "I’ve never seen a first half like that. You’re unstoppable, Kelvin" Kelvin only gives a discreet smile. "I’m just getting started. But this won’t last forever" On the other side of the court, Elias and Bruno sit together, clearly shaken. Elias rubs his face with both hands, frustrated. "It wasn’t supposed to be ..." Bruno stares at the floor. "He’s on another level, man" Bruno kicks off. Elias controls the ball and tries to push forward. But Kelvin is already in front of him, body leaning forward, ready to explode at any second. "Gonna try the same as before?" he asks calmly. Elias pushes ahead, attempts a quick dribble. Kelvin mirrors him perfectly. Clean steal. The ball sticks to his foot like it’s part of him. "It’s over", Ian says, sprinting to open up space. Kelvin lifts his head and accelerates. The whole gym seems to move with him. Bruno chases from behind, desperate. Alisson yells from the goal: "Pass if you need! But go, go!" Kelvin keeps control. One, two feints. He beats Elias again. Spins and leaves Bruno on the ground. In the stands, Takumi watches, arms crossed. His eyes don’t blink. "This isn’t just talent", he murmurs. "This kid is seeing the game in a way no one else is." A student beside him asks: "Takumi, do you know this guy?" "I’m getting to know him now" Kelvin enters the box. The goalkeeper tries to close in, but Kelvin calmly places it in the opposite corner. Dante jumps, screaming: "He’s destroying the game!" Kazana watches in silence, biting her nail. "How is he doing this?" Kelvin walks slowly as Ian runs over. "We’re not playing futsal anymore. We’re watching a live show" The most update n0vels are published on 𝓷𝓸𝓿𝓮𝓵※𝓯𝓲𝓻𝓮※𝓷𝓮𝓽 "I don’t know how, but... I can see everything" Across the court, Elias slowly gets up. Sweat dripping down his face, he stares at Kelvin like he’s seeing someone else. Takumi still hasn’t looked away. "If this keeps up... this guy’s going to be a problem" Bruno kicks off again. Elias takes a deep breath, but fatigue is settling in. He looks at Kelvin, who walks back to his position like he didn’t just score. No fatigue. No hesitation. The ball moves between Bruno and Elias, trying to hold possession. But Kelvin gives them no space. He moves with precision. Every step seems calculated — yet natural. Elias gets the ball near the sideline. He controls it, but Kelvin is already there. Elias tries to spin, but before he can act, the pressure hits. "I’ve given up trying to dribble you", Elias mutters, between frustration and sarcasm. "Thanks. The ball’s mine now" Another steal. Fast. Silent. Surgical. He spins with the ball and bursts forward. Ian runs on the opposite side, pulling defenders with him. Kelvin doesn’t even need to look. He knows where everyone is. "Left side’s open!" Ian shouts. But Kelvin keeps going. He feels the path. One, two short touches. Ball glued to his foot. Bruno tries to cut him off — too late. Kelvin slips through like smoke. "Go, Kelvin!" Alisson shouts, pumped. He enters the box, the goalkeeper braces. But Kelvin doesn’t shoot yet. A gentle touch with the sole, slowing everything down — and tearing the defense apart. The keeper hesitates. That second of doubt is all he needs. A low shot to the far corner. The gym almost shakes. Students stand. Some shout. Others just stare in silence, unsure how to react. In the stands, Takumi leans forward, elbows on his knees. His expression changes. It’s no longer just surprise — it’s respect. "He’s not playing... he’s dancing with the ball", Takumi whispers to himself. Next to him, a senior from the school team says: "That kid doesn’t belong here. He should be in the pros" On court, Elias says nothing. Just breathes. Kelvin? Already waiting for the next play. The match resumes. Elias tries a quick pass, but Kelvin intercepts again. Another perfect move. Kelvin charges up the middle. Now he’s fast — almost floating. He beats one, cuts inside, splits Bruno and Elias. Dante jumps from the bleachers. "What is this?! He’s going in alone!" Only the goalkeeper ahead. But Kelvin doesn’t need power. He curls it into the top left corner. Alisson is ecstatic, slapping the ground and yelling. "Bro! I’m getting your jersey after this game!" Kelvin chuckles lightly, raising one arm in a restrained celebration. Ian approaches and playfully punches his shoulder. "You’re from another world" Kelvin stares at the center of the court. He says it flat, his eyes scanning the stands — but he doesn’t find him. Further back, a silent scout jots notes in a notebook. Takumi keeps watching. "If he stays ... he’ll be impossible to ignore" Elias lowers his head. "This game’s over..." But Kelvin doesn’t slow down. The court feels different now. The cheering fades — not from boredom, but from disbelief. People simply can’t react anymore. Kelvin walks back to his side, breathing through his nose. Eyes locked in. No smiles now. Bruno kicks off again, out of duty more than will. Elias gets it but doesn’t try to attack. Just passes sideways, avoiding a duel. They want the clock to run. But Kelvin’s not finished. He reads the pass before Bruno even moves. "Again?!" shouts a student, stunned. Alisson roars from the back: "Finish it, Kelvin! Wipe them out!" Kelvin says nothing. He runs. But this time, he slows down first. A short touch. Then a quicker one. Bruno tries to catch him — but it’s like running through sand. Elias retreats to the middle, already beaten. Like the ball is just an extension of himself. He reaches the box. The keeper rushes out, desperate. No one can stop him now. A soft flick. A lob over the keeper. The ball bounces gently into the net. For two seconds, the whole gym hears nothing but the net rippling and the ball slowly rolling to a stop. Shouts. Applause. Screams of names. Phones in the air. Students standing. Alisson jumps behind the goal. "THIS IS FOOTBALL! THIS IS MY TEAM!" Ian rushes to Kelvin, completely euphoric. "What was this game, bro?! What was this?!" Kelvin takes a step back, eyes on the swaying net. "It’s all I needed to do. Show what I’m capable of" On the other side, Elias bends over, hands on knees. Bruno just walks in silence to the back of the court. The referee looks at the clock. Kelvin closes his eyes for a moment. Sweat drips down his face, but he doesn’t feel tired. Dante shouts from the stands: Kazana says nothing. Just watches. Lips slightly open. Eyes lost. Takumi remains seated, arms crossed. His face calm — but eyes sharp. "His name... it’ll be all over school tomorrow" Ian collapses on the floor, smiling. "That was the craziest match of my life" Alisson walks over to Kelvin, extending his hand. "You’re a monster. If you don’t go pro, that’s just wrong" Kelvin grips it, firm. And right there, in that sweaty, noisy, electric court... Kelvin finally realized: He wasn’t just some player anymore. He had become one of the best school-level players around.
