It was all over the tabloids.
Just when Rella thought it couldn't get any worse and each one of them were spinning tales out of the lies they made up claiming sources close to the Diamonds. One thing they got right was Stefan's and Jenny's past fling which they speculated to have been rekindled recently. They went as far as claiming that the boy was Stefan's son. Rella hadn't realised the depth of the spectacle they made at the charity ball last night until she flipped the next page and there it was, a gigantic shot of them in the garden filling an entire page it was hard to miss them. There was also a shot of her passing out in Stefan's arms. In short last night had been a disaster and the city was abuzz with it seeing as it involves a Diamon, which makes it a big deal. It would be a hassle going out in public but Rella didn't want Stefan to know she was meeting up with Christian or what they plan to discuss so she got a pair of sunglasses and scarf and her disguise was complete.
She tapped her foot nervously against the marbled floor of the café while taking small sips of her coffee. Her stomach was in knots as she waited. Would he show up or not? Frankly she wouldn't blame him if he doesn't. When she lifted her head again she spotted him walking into the café and waved him over.
He smiled at her and some of the tension in her body eased, at least he wasn't showing any signs of malice that's a good start.
"Thank you for coming, I didn't think you would honestly."
"Why wouldn't I?" Christian raised a brow as he took his seat across from her.
"Well… after you dropped that bomb last night I haven't seen you since and I thought… " she trailed off biting her lower lip.
"you thought I was gonna tell Stefan." A waiter came to take his order and he ordered cappuccino. "I know the truth, yes, but it wasn't my secret to tell."
"How and when did you find out?"
"At the after wedding party. I went to find you after you disappeared with Chloe Moreno and that's when I heard the two of you talking."
After wedding party? That was months ago! How could he have stayed silent for so long?
"You kept it a secret for long? You must've hated my guts when you found out."
"hate you, God no! I was angry yes, I asked myself why would she do that? I still did not believe it then until I decided to do my own little research. I know the whole truth now. Frankly, I was furious at first and then I thought about telling Stefan."
His coffee came then and he took a hearty sip before he glanced up at her and smiled. "I thought this could be the perfect opportunity to end the marriage he didn't want in the first place, but the two of you look so good together regardless of the circumstance that brought you two together you were able to make it work. I've never seen Stefan so hung up on a woman he wouldn't stop talking about how much she irritates him." Christian chuckled and Rella smiled through the tears stinging her eyes. "I don't think even then he realises how much feelings he had for you. You make Stefan happy Rella."
It warmed her heart to hear someone that wasn't her mom and dad or Van say her name like that.
