The Second Chance of Reincarnator Chapter 7

Thomas opened a locker with a brass key—inside there was a brown money pouch, some garments, an old backpack, and a tarnished silver locket. "I really can't wear my clothes here?" Kael asked as he unbuttoned his jacket, folded it down on the table, and then started removing his shirt and trousers. "Yes. We'd like to keep the original citizens of Whitesky from feeling uncomfortable. If they see everyone walking in clothes that seem futuristic to them, they will lose the sense of normality in their lives. "Which is why you aren't allowed to bring your phone with you or anything electronic." Thomas said, took out the tarnished silver locket, and looked inside—there was a faded photograph of someone who looked like Kael and a pretty bobcut-haired girl. "Is that locket my brother's?" Kael asked as he looked over after he finished undressing all the way till he was only standing in his briefs. "Yes. This locker is your brother's. Since he doesn't have any need for it anymore, it will be yours to do as you wish. "Put your Earth clothes inside, and everything else that you brought from the outside world. Take those garments, and put them on. "I don't know how much money is in that brown pouch, but it should be enough to help you get going in here." Thomas said, and also handed him the silver locket. Kael looked at it, put it around his neck, and felt the silver cool against his skin. He then changed into new clothes—brown trousers with two pockets, a white linen shirt, and brown leather boots. A belt was cinched around his waist, and he put a high-collared coat over the white linen shirt—he then brushed his dark hair back from his face and adjusted the collar of his coat. He then slipped the locket through the opening of the coat and tucked it under his shirt—the locket was now close to his heart. "I saw that the sky was also dark, and there was a crimson moon in the sky—it is pretty late, yet there are many people in the altar. Do people not sleep here?" Kael asked as he put his stuff inside the locker, brought out the brown pouch, and then locked it tight with the brass key. "They have grown sleepless during the Dark Days—when Rav'akari first appeared, they started with whispering nightmares into their ears and stealing their dreams. "It was an appetizer for them. "They wanted to make them fear all and everything—only then would they go for the main course and feast on them. "Before it came to that point, the Ten Gods made a drastic decision—they sought help from the other world, which is our Earth. "We came to their aid, and in return, they gave permission to us to mine valuable resources of this world. "While the threat is still ever-present, it isn't as dangerous as during those days, but those sleepless Dark Days did leave a mark on the citizens of this world, and most of them had lost the ability to dream." "They're that evil, huh. I've only heard whispers and rumors, but my brother refused to tell me much about this world. "It didn't matter how much I begged. "It was probably because my brother didn't want me to come here, so he tried to dampen my excitement about this world." Kael said, pulled open the brown pouch, and looked inside—there were about five hundred pieces of Iris Coin, the currency of this world. "Iris Coins… I have one back in my home. I asked Soul to bring one for me for my experiments, but I never thought I would see so many of them in one place." "It isn't much that he left behind, but that should be enough for you to purchase supplies for your journey and a carriage ride, if anyone is foolish enough to take you there." "How much does a weapon cost here?" Kael asked, closed the pouch, and put it inside a small backpack—then he slung it over his shoulders. "I am sure you could purchase a dagger or some cheap shortsword, but you won't be able to do anything with a weapon. "Most classes give you the ability to materialize a weapon specific to your class, and those weapons are capable of hurting Rav'akari and the other evil creatures that roam the land. "Without a blessing, even with a purchased weapon, you can't even make a scratch on Rav'akari, if you encounter one. "All I can suggest is for you to run—run like the wind—at the first sight of Rav'akari, and don't look back, no matter how much they try to taunt you. "They'll use the feelings you have towards your brother as a weapon against you, but don't let them use those against you." Thomas said with a serious tone. He wasn't kidding, and he meant every word—he put great emphasis into every word—so that Kael would never forget the importance of what he just said to him. "I understand. I appreciate your help here, Thomas." Kael said and headed over to the door—they were still inside the altar temple, so when he opened the door, he came across the view of praying men and women—some old, some young. They hadn't stopped praying to the statues even for a moment. "And don't die, Kael. I don't want to bring the news of your demise to your family. It would be too much for them to bear." Kael said and left, with his footsteps fading into the background—he left the altar and stopped at the start of the stairs, which were going down towards the streets of Rask. It was only street lamps, light from the windows, and the glow of the crimson moon that stopped the city from going into complete darkness. With him just standing still there, people leaving the altar happened to bump into him, cursed at him briefly, and moved on. "Watch where you're standing at!" Kael stayed silent, just chuckled to himself, and started running down the stairs as fast as he could—he almost skipped a few stairs in his haste and could've sprained an ankle. 'Before I leave, there is something I am after in Rask—I have to buy supplies and visit a certain someone—Kang Huang!'
