It was an awkward meal as they were still angry with each other. Nonetheless, Edward kept stealing glances at her; she looked adorable with her curly hair in a ponytail. Cassandra is wearing a cream blouse with a black skirt and knee-high Korean boots.
He also thought she appeared to be in better shape than when he first saw her.
The dark circles were gone, and she didn't appear as haggard, though she still appeared sad. That touched his heartstrings.
He was completely smitten by this woman. And since they were here, away from any distractions, he decided to try to win her over. Oh, he knew it wouldn't be easy, but he only had three days to win her over.
"Cassandra, I just wanted to say how impressive you've done with Akia; it must have been so difficult for you. Was there no one in your life, a man? I seriously can not believe you're alone."
She had no idea what Edward was up to because he was suddenly friendly, smiling, and making small talk. "I was too preoccupied with Akia and work to have fun."
"There had to have been someone," he said, unable to believe that a woman who resembled her had not been out on a date.
"We went out a few times, but they didn't want anything to do with a child, and I couldn't be with a man who couldn't accept my daughter," she explained.
"That's good because you're only mine," Edward said quietly.
Cassandra inquired, "What did you say?"
"Oh, I said that's good. You should marry a man like me," he said, studying her face and noticing the loneliness in her eyes. "Anyway, Akia probably wouldn't have liked them obviously," he said, smiling.
She couldn't help but smile back when she looked up. "Let's not talk about it but you're right, she's a very picky little girl who doesn't take to just anyone," she said solemnly as she looked at Edward. "Except for you and everyone at the mansion, it amazes me how quickly she warmed up to you like she's known you and the others her entire life."
He sat back and snickered, his dimples on display. "Can you blame her? Look at me, I'm so handsome," he jokingly said.
"You are so narcissistic," Cassandra laughed.
But it's true, she thought.
The ice had been broken, he thought as he watched her laugh. "Dance with me," he said, holding out his hand. When she managed to slip her hand into his, he felt a surge of relief.
As Edward led Cassandra onto the dance floor, she felt the heat from his hand on the small of her back. She had ended up missing being in his arms. The feel of his hard body when he held her close made her heart skip a beat.

"I'll walk you up," he said, and she took his hand as they walked a couple of miles to their rooms.
He opened the door after taking the key from her and handing it back to her. "I'll see you for breakfast," he said, leaning over and kissing her on the cheek.
She watched as he went to his door, then went inside, undressed, and entered the shower. With her eyes closed, she felt arms go around her waist from behind, then lips on the back of her neck, and one hand inappropriately touched her boobs.
