Jaden's POV
I kissed her deeply, savouring her lips with tears falling from my eyes as I closed my eyes tight, gnashing my teeth while my wolf howled in sadness. My dark past was creeping in, and as much as I tried to push it away, it kept coming bit by bit.
I tried to focus on the kiss so I would forget this miserable past trying to hunt me down, but it wasn't enough. My hands wrapped around her as I drew her closer, dipping my tongue in as I gave her a deeper kiss, enjoying the softness of her lips and how plump they were.
She let out a short moan as my hand moved up and rubbed the corner of her left breast. Her moan gave me more courage as I cupped the entire boobs in my palm, pressing and teasing the nipple with the tip of my finger.
Her hand reached up to brush and tug at my hair, trying to muffle whatever sound was escaping from her lips.
It seemed her left breast was a very sensitive part of her body, as I could see her reacting to it. I could feel her boobs swelling with the nipple becoming harder while she kept moaning silently, moving her hands all around me.
I broke the kiss and drew my lips down to her neck while she quickly threw her head back while holding on to my back. I licked her neck and made sure to avoid the side where that slave mark was. I don't want anything to destroy this sensual moment as I was trying really hard to forget I was doing all this with a slave.
It was as if she got back to her senses as she instantly broke away from me, jolting up to her feet while gasping and breathing heavily. I gulped and swallowed hard, knowing full well why she had that reaction.
"Jaden, you have to tell me all about that recent reaction when you saw this slave mark! The resentment I saw in your eyes was very deep, and I am afraid you will end up hating me later!" She cried, and my heart tingled with pain as she mentioned the word "slave" again.
Even her cries didn't hurt me more than the very fact that my mate turned out to have that slave mark which I dreaded in my life. Her pretty sapphire blue eyes glistened with tears as she kept a fixed gaze on me, folding her hands while waiting for me to talk.
If only she knew I would never tell her about this dark past. It was against the rules, and if anyone finds out what I did, my life will be jeopardized. It was not like I was afraid that I would be killed by anyone, but I had yet to know who the moon goddess's daughter was.
She will be the one to destroy me once she hears about my past because I was like a nightmare to the wolf kingdom. It might seem safe to tell just Ava, but the ears have walls and anything could happen and the secret would leak.
My life will come to an end when the Moon Goddess's daughter sent to this earth hears of it. She will do everything possible to kill me off. If you're wondering why I despised slaves, it's because they reminded me of the evil I committed.
They were the vessels used to build me into the beast I was, and thousands died gruesomely. They were normal wolves that had a life to live and a family, but I became a terror and disaster that took their lives away.
My obsession for power led me to all this, and when I returned to my senses, I did all i could do to forget it, which included sending away every single slave around me. How does it then turn out that the girl I finally fell in love with had that mark?
A single glance at it enrages me because of how much I am haunted by its sight. I would keep seeing flashes of that horrible sight of their deaths as they all had the same mark around their necks.
I did a lot more evil to the werewolf kingdom than I can say, so how does Ava expect me to spill it to her? What if she's the death lurking around me? I just need to be very careful.
"Can we forget about it and enjoy this moment because we might never have this opportunity ever again." I sighed, looking down at the ground sadly, my heart hazed with gloom and hopelessness.
It was like my wolf and I were in a battle in which we didn't know if we were winning or losing. The right thing to do was to reject Ava and send her out of the Lycan kingdom to avoid the looming danger, but it seemed to be the same as slitting my throat.
Rejecting Ava as my mate and banishing her out of the kingdom might save me from getting caught up in my dark past, but at the same time, it will destroy me. I don't know much about love, but I know what I am feeling for Ava could lead me to go mad if I ever send her away.
I could remember my promise to protect her and also those times I assured her that I wouldn't let anything happen to her. She will be shattered the moment I reject her. I wonder what her life will be like?
Her pack members will finally have victory over her and I am very sure she won't hesitate to kill herself, as it was clear I was the reason she struggled to stay alive when she almost died.
"For how long will you hide it from me? When will I hear the reason why you hate slaves to the extent that you were petrified and yelled at me? You were so furious. Jaden, am I still safe in your arms or should I go elsewhere to look for that solace I needed." My lips quivered as she spoke those words, slightly above a whisper.
She looked so pained and heartbroken, her legs trembling while she shed endless tears.
"Am I still the woman you fell in love with? This slave mark can still be changed into your mark of ownership when you mark me, but it seems you are not angry at just the blemish, but it also serves as a remembrance of something awful you did! The way you look at it, it was like one who was caught after having committed countless murders." She whimpered, blinking those beautiful eyes.
I looked away as my heart rammed inside my chest like it was struggling to break off from my rib cage. Her words were like arrows piercing my heart. She could read my expression. I must have sucked at hiding the panic in a cover of mere anger.
My eyes became teary and my vision turned blurrier when I gazed at the love of my life crying in heartbreak and fear.
"Please don't reject me. I did no wrong to deserve it from my first lover just because I was forced to get this slave mark by my enemies." She begged, falling down to her knees with her palms against each other as she rubbed them together while begging me like her life depended on it.
The pain I felt was beyond my power to bear, and I didn't know when I fell to my knees in front of her. She was stunned and gasped, but I quickly held her hand and pulled her into a tight hug.
"I can never reject you because you are like the air that I breathe. The sun in my dark heart. The only one my heart beats for. You are like a breath of fresh life that swirled its way into my life and made me see the better side of life. How will I reject such an important person? Let's keep this secret aside, and I swear to be the man for you, all the days of our lives on earth..." I poured my heart out, hugging her tight as she also gripped and pulled me tight into her body, as if we were afraid the other would disappear if we left them.
"Jaden, I love you."
"Ava, I love you more than words can explain. With you, I wish to start a new chapter in my life. " I cooed and heard her giggle happily.
It was like a soothing balm to my soul. Each moment, I kept realizing how much I loved her. Not even the slave mark can stop us.
