“Alpha Andrei. I need to have a talk with you. Please come here.” I yell across the yard, just before he starts walking towards me.
It’s amazing. One minute I was in the room with Arabella and the pups, smiling and hopelessly happy, the next, I am out here waiting for Alpha Andrei to start a fight with me. If he doesn’t try anything, I will be forced to initiate the battle, because I can’t let this go unpunished, especially where Arabella and the pups are concerned.
Of course, there is no need to worry about any of that. Soon after he walks over to me, his eyes turn gold, and I can tell that he wants to fight me. “Come and get me. I know you want to take over. Were you the one who tried to kill Arabella?” I say, as I try to coax him into the fight that I can tell we both want so badly.
Already, I am inclined to let my wolf take over and end this battle in just a few moments. However, I need to know if anyone else is involved and if any other rogues have been already hired to kill us. So, I calm my inner beast for the moment and try to find out the information I need before I settle the score.
“What do you mean?” He asks me with contempt in his voice.
“Don’t play coy with me. I have been told by several parties now that you were the head of the takeover and hired the rogues to kill them. If you insist on playing dumb, I will make sure to knock some sense into that thick skull of yours.” I say vehemently, as I run my claws over the cement wall and stare at him with an increasing hatred.
I watch as he cocks his head and then smirks, before launching himself in my direction. When he contacts with my shoulder, I realize that he intended on knocking me on my ass, not really hurt me. “Would someone who wanted to kill you, or your mate do that? I think they would have wounded you instead.” He starts to laugh as I grow more and more impatient.
“Don’t fuck with me!” I roar, before standing my ground and shoving him backwards.
“I am not, I am merely stating a fact. I am not the cause of your worries, instead you should be watching your back. Someone else is trying to take over the throne and I don’t have a clue who it is. If I did, I would be the first one to tell you.” He states, while lowering his voice when he notices the doctor walking up behind me.
Noticing the look in his eyes, I turn around and see the doctor walking up quietly behind me. As he approaches, I see a needle in his hand and a strange look on his face. Perhaps the doctor is in on it after all.
While I have been gone, what has he done to Arabella? Surmising that he is at fault too quickly, I lash out and ask with worry in my voice, “What have you done to her?”
In his eyes, I see the turmoil brewing, right before he quickly looks away from my gaze. “What are you talking about? I have come out to tell you the good news. She can go home now. Her incisions are healing in record time, even though she is a human. Our pups’ blood must still be flowing through her.” He changes the subject quickly, to avoid the situation entirely.
Glancing between Alpha Andrei and the doctor, I furrow my brow and wonder if they aren’t working together. Deciding to play along, I nod to them both and then follow the doctor back inside. As I follow behind him, I notice something peculiar. He has something stuck to his pant leg that is a neon yellow.
Once we are in the hospital, I stop him and take ahold of it. “Hold on, there is something on your leg.” I lean down and pull it off to inspect it.
The doctor glances at it with a nonchalant look on his face. He doesn’t seem to be concerned that a label for a high pain narcotic is on his leg. How strange is that? I hope he didn’t give that to Arabella.
The minute we step in the room I stop and stare, because Arabella is sitting on the edge of the bed, smiling at me with 6 pups on either side of her. Omega Celeste and Omega Skye are on either side of them, as they watch all the pups closely. “Oh my.” I declare, as I forget completely what I had just been thinking about before I walked in the door.
“What a beautiful site. Not only is my lovely mate sitting here waiting for me, but all our pups are healthy. A man couldn’t ask for any more than this. Are you ready to go, love of my life?” I stand there proud, while admiring the site.
“Yes, I do believe so. The doctor has just given me a shot, so I am a bit tired, but other than that everything is wonderful.” She smiles at me so happily, just sitting there.
I don’t want to burst her bubble with all the bad news ever, so I keep my mouth shut when I walk over to pick her up and carry her home. With all the pups in tow and 3 omegas to carry them all, we manage to get back to the vehicle without any problems. Somehow, we fit them all into the car and drive back to the castle shortly thereafter.
“Baby, I love you so much. I am just so glad that you are alright and on the mend. I think everything will be alright if we are together. Just remember that no matter what, I won’t let anything happen to you and that is a promise.” I smile and say to her, as we pull up to the doors.
