The Lowest Royal Returns Chapter 90

It seemed like a couple of hours had passed, and in that time, Raelis leisurely played around with his knives, waiting for Isabel to wake up. And as he was starting to grow bored, she suddenly opened her eyes. They were no longer crimson, and instead, they were a deep shade of blue. For a moment, Raelis was confused, but her eyesight soon returned to crimson once again. And with it, she finally spoke. "I see you’re being targeted by quite the troublesome people," Isabel remarked with a giggle. "Do you know who they are?" Raelis asked right away. "Of course I do. I just saw his memories. I know all about that stunt you had performed," Isabel replied. "Rather, it was not a stunt, but the sheer fact that you oversaw the Eternal Scribe’s punishment deems you fit for execution." Hearing that, Raelis simply stared at her in a dumbfounded manner. "What are you even talking about?" Sure, he knew who the Eternal Scribe was. He had heard it from Baron Ingram himself only a week ago. However, the fact that Isabel was calling his goons a cult was not exactly reassuring for Raelis. Nonetheless, she soon went into more details. "There exist five beings who are deemed as Eternal. One of them is the Eternal Scribe. He is supposedly the creator of magic. It has also been speculated that he was the one who created the demons in the first place," Isabel said in a bored manner. "However, he’s only one of the Five Eternals." She cleared her throat and continued. "There is the Eternal Scale. It’s a being who is responsible for the fates of everyone in this world." "Then, the Eternal Flame. Not much is known about this being, but it’s been speculated that they are responsible for the cycle of reincarnation and purification. Rather, what happens after death, that type of stuff." Isabel glanced in the distance and sighed. "Now, the trickiest of them all: the Eternal Mirror. A being who can mimic everything and everyone in existence. It’s been confirmed that the first rulers of this world were all controlled by the Mirror. But that’s not the only reason it has that name." She clenched her fists, her face slightly red with anger. "He’s also responsible for the Space and Time elements. Because of that, he’s the most powerful being in the world. On a whim, he could open a portal and let in multiple Grade 1 monsters. If that happens, we’re all dead." Raelis kept nodding, making sense of most of what she was saying. The beings she was describing resembled the symbol he had seen and stored in his suitcase. The hand with a crimson eye in the center of the palm, and then five miniature beings on each finger. Of course, there was one more being, and from Isabel’s expression, which had returned to normal, she didn’t seem too impressed with the last being. "Then there’s the Eternal Prayer. An outcast. It doesn’t do anything. Instead of using its immense powers, it just prays, searching for some ’True God’ that might exist above the Five Eternals. Personally, I think that’s complete bullshit." With those words, Isabel stood up and dusted herself off. Her back was slightly aching from the uncomfortable position she had passed out in, but even so, she had finished her explanation and also given him a warning. But for the sake of Raelis understanding who he was truly going up against, she decided to leave a few more words. "The Eternal Scribe tampers with demons, or that’s what I heard anyway," Isabel said. "Demons have black blood, and some people have made the connection that demon blood is actually just ink that the Eternal Scribe had implanted in them." It was a pretty horrifying theory, but that also meant that whoever Raelis was going up against was definitely not normal either. She looked around, puzzled. "Where did you put the body?" "I burned it," Raelis said right away. Hearing that, she let out a relieved breath. "Good... those things don’t die easily. You didn’t try to inspect its body before killing it, right?" Isabel asked skeptically. "Because if you did, then tell me now. I’ll have no choice but to take you to the Black Lotus headquarters and have you cleansed." "I’m fine. I didn’t touch him," Raelis replied. "Also... does that mean the man was a demonic human?" Of course, by demonic human, Raelis meant a human who had ingested demonic blood. Once demonic blood enters a human’s system, it changes them inside out. They become more irrational, and the more blood they drink, the more they start to resemble demons themselves. Yet that was the only thing he had heard. Or rather, that was what he had read in his father’s journal. "He was a Demonic Human, but a pretty weak one. You don’t have to worry about him coming back from the dead to kill you or something. Just relax and let me protect your mother," Isabel assured. "But yes... I suggest you hold off on fighting demons that seem stronger than normal. For all you know, you might be fighting the Eternal Scribe’s apostle." Isabel facepalmed. "Have you never read a history book before?" "Varekan history is drilled into our heads. Something has never even been mentioned," Raelis replied. "Then you should read it when you have time," Isabel said flatly. "The Five Eternal beings are myths that have been studied for centuries. No one has managed to figure out their true motives, but it’s safe to assume they’re evil." "I see..." Raelis nodded. "Thanks for the heads-up, but I’m sure I’ll be fine." "Alright Raelis, it’s time we head back. We’ve played a few games, but that’s enough. If you try to attack me again, I will crush your balls. Understood?" A shiver ran down Raelis’s spine. "Yep... don’t worry, I’ve had enough as well." With that mutual agreement, the two finally made their way back to the mansion.
