The Lowest Royal Returns Chapter 79

Shouldn’t she be in the infirmary? Beside Julian was a seemingly unscathed Zeri. However, from the blank look on her face and the fact that she was wearing some sort of medical collar around her neck, it was safe to assume that the healers weren’t able to do much aside from stabilizing her condition. "She has made a miraculous recovery," Julian said with a slight smile. "However, she did suffer some vocal damage. We just have to wait until Emperor Kaelith contacts the Divine Healer. After that, she will be back to normal. I’m sure of it." Raelis’s brows slightly furrowed. There were several beings considered Divine in this world, and one of them was the Divine Healer. It was said he could heal any injury, any illness, and on some rare occasions, even bring people back from the dead. These Divine beings were just normal humans most of the time, but complete experts in their fields. So because of that, even someone like Emperor Kaelith couldn’t summon them on a whim. He would need to pay a cost, and Raelis could only imagine what that might be. "Anyhow, she will be participating in this lesson, and all the lessons moving forward. Do try getting along," Julian said and pointed toward the many alchemy stations ahead. Zeri slowly moved her head, wincing at the pain. Then, she locked eyes with Raelis, and a moment later, with Clea. Despite what they had done to her, she seemed relatively calm. But when she approached and sat beside Clea, Raelis realized that she was going to be like a permanent rain cloud. Clea pulled her chair closer to Raelis and adjusted her desk. However, Raelis had another idea. "Let’s switch," Raelis said plainly. "You sit in my seat, and I’ll sit in yours." "Hm? Why?" Clea asked. "Do you think I care if she tries to backstab me? I can handle myself just fine." "I’m sure, but at least for this lesson, let’s switch," Raelis urged, and after a few moments, Clea caved in. They switched seats, and now, Raelis sat beside Zeri, who had been eyeing him since the very start. She opened her mouth slightly and let out a hoarse laugh. "Came to torment us?" Raelis mused, turning to Zeri and leaning in slightly. Then, he whispered into her ear. "If you so much as try to kill either of us, I will make sure to end you with everything I have." It wasn’t a subtle threat. He didn’t need subtle threats. After all, playing mind games with a person who couldn’t even reply to him was nothing short of foolish. Therefore, after not getting a response, he turned back to the alchemy station, then to Julian. "I will now hand out the materials as well as the recipe to you. Sit still, and try not to lose anything. If you fail to brew the potion or mix it up, you will have to go back into the forest and scavenge more herbs," Julian said sternly. Just like that, he went around the entire classroom, handing out finely chopped herbs, a few vials, a metal chopstick, and the recipe. When he was done, he walked back to the front, pulled back his chair, and sat down. "Follow the recipe. You may now begin brewing." "Sir, shouldn’t there usually be an introduction to how it’s made...? Like an example of sorts?" Julian shook his head. "This isn’t martial arts. This is like cooking. Follow the recipe, and you will never go wrong." He clapped his hands once. "Now the next time you speak up, I assume you have an actual question related to the lesson. If you don’t, then I will give you detention." "Oh and..." A faint smile appeared on his face. "Raelis. You’re getting detention. See me after class." Raelis paused, then rolled his eyes. What a roundabout way of telling me he wants to discuss the mentorship. But fine, I can do that. Nevertheless, he brought his gaze onto the recipe. 1. The cauldrons already have water inside them. Heat the water up to a boiling temperature. 2. Toss in the Sugar leaf first. Wait for it to dissolve, then stir it. 3. While you are stirring it, put in a single Dashcap mushroom and wait for it to dissolve. 3. Once the Dashcap mushroom dissolves, put in the Yellowleaf flower, and after exactly 5 seconds, put in the last Dashcap mushroom. 4. Stir for 10 seconds, and when the potion turns a dark shade of blue, take it off the flame. Let it cool down, and then pour it into any vials of your choosing. P.S: This is the third easiest recipe in history, so if you mess this up, I’m really going to be disappointed in you. –Julian E. Raelis let out a sigh and began the brewing process. He turned the alchemical fire up, and within a few seconds, the water was boiling. He tossed in the Sugar leaf, then began stirring it. Soon after, he tossed a Dashcap mushroom inside and waited for it to dissolve. And without wasting a beat, he tossed in the Yellowleaf flower. Raelis counted to 5 inside his mind. Finally, he tossed in the last Dashcap mushroom and began stirring for exactly 10 seconds. After the potion turned dark blue, Raelis took it off the flame. While it cooled, he picked out four medium-sized vials and poured the contents inside each one. Then, he carefully corked the vials, and just like that, he was done. But once he left his state of focus and glanced around, he was met with a slightly shocked look from Julian that even left him confused. "Is there something wrong...?" Raelis asked. "Hmm... not exactly wrong," Julian said, eyeing the four vials. "Though the outcome is certainly interesting." He took a few steps closer, then uncorked one of the potions and brought it closer to Raelis’s face. Immediately, the potion shimmered slightly, then settled down. "When a potion is brewed to perfection, it’s said that the potion expresses its thanks to the alchemist who brewed it." But the recipe is so damn simple? Why is he making such a big deal out of this? "This was your first time brewing the swiftness potion, yes?" Julian asked, and Raelis nodded. "I see... it’s a very splendid first attempt." A faint smirk appeared on Julian’s face. "You might not understand the implications of what it means to brew a perfect potion, but I’m willing to explain it during detention." He took a few steps toward the podium and sat back down on his chair. "Good job, Raelis," Julian said, turning to the other students. "As for the rest of you... get back to work."
