Epilogue 3
Five Years Later…
"Papa!" Niall shouted as he run his tiny feet towards Liam as the man leaned from the side of the car. He smiled at his son as he stared at Niall's blue eyes that resembles Louis' so much and made his heart ache.
"Hey Ni. How's school?" He bent to pick his son up. He kissed his son's cheek which made the toddler giggle that Liam knows will sound so much like Louis' in the future.
"'M good! Draw at school! Wanna show to Daddy!" The four-year old said excitedly.
Liam's features soften at the mention of his husband, five years had passed and he's still deeply in love with his little husband. "You can't, Ni. Not now."
Niall's eyes became teary. "But wanna show to Daddy!" Niall whined, kicking his tiny feet in the air. "Now!"
"Niall, behave. You know Daddy is not here." Liam said sternly which made Niall stop and stifle a cry. Liam sighed as he put Niall down in his car seat and he sat in the driver's seat. "You know Daddy wouldn't want you to sulk or be sad, Ni." Liam explained to the toddler.
"But Papa, I wanna be with Daddy all the time."
"I know bud. Me too.” He ruffled Niall’s hair making the toddler giggle again. “Why don't we buy your favorite food on the way?"
Niall's face lit up at that. "McDonald's, Papa?" The toddler asked excitedly.
Liam nodded as he started the car, smiling at the fact that Niall likes McDonald's just like Louis. They stopped and ordered food at the drive-thru and as Niall munched his food and fell asleep after,
Liam's eyes kept on glancing at the picture on his dashboard which is him and Louis.
He smiled, remembering when they took the picture. His eyes got a little bit teary remembering but he blinked it away. When they reach their home, he parked the car properly and unbuckled him and Niall. He carried Niall to the toddler's own room and tucked him in.
"Let’s go to Daddy." Niall murmured.
"Sleep, Ni." Liam whispered, kissing his son's forehead.
He walked towards the living room and looked around taking in the stillness and quietness of the place. He went to the bedroom and opened the balcony as he let the cool wind touch his face. He remembered that fateful day very clearly. It was the day Niall was born. The day he heard Louis' heartbeat stop beating. The day he held Louis' cold face. The day Louis' hands lost its warmth. The day Louis' life slipped away under his fingertips. He blinked back the tears threatening in his eyes.
"Why do you look so sad, Li?" Came Louis' soft voice as he wrapped his arms around Liam's torso. He just came out of the bathroom and Liam sighed in relief as he turned around and held Louis' warm face.
Louis stared at Liam's teary brown eyes and he reached his hand up to wipe the tears with his thumb as he placed his palms on either side of Liam's face.
"Nothing, Lou."
"I know that look, Li. You're thinking about it again." Louis stated.
Liam kissed Louis' forehead, nose, cheeks, chin and lastly, his lips, lingering on each point. "I'm just so happy that you're here with me and Niall."
"There's no place I'd rather be, Li." Louis said softly.
"I'm so scared." Liam whispered as he kissed Louis' palms before pulling him in a tight and loving embrace. "I saw it. I saw how your heart stopped beating. I heard it stop. You were white pale and..
and so cold. You're not responding to me. You d-died, Lou. I saw it.I don't know what to do. I just want you back and you-"
"And I did. I came back. I'm here now, aren't I?" Louis pulled away to caress his husband's face as he stared into his eyes. "Stop thinking about the past, Li."
"I can't help it, Lou. Sometimes, I still feel like this is all just a dream and I'll eventually wake up and I'll find myself inside that delivery room again while you-re-"
Louis cut Liam off by tipping his toes and attaching his lips to him and of course, Liam kissed back, delving in the sweet taste of his husband's lips. "What's important is we're together now, with Niall." Louis whispered against Liam's lips.
Liam placed his arms on either side of Louis' waist. "I love you so much, Louis William Tomlinson-Payne."
"I love you too, Liam James Payne." Louis giggled as Liam pecked his forehead. "By the way, where's my little bugger?"
"In his room. He'd been looking for you since I picked him up from daycare."
"He's taking his nap now?"
"Yes, he is." Liam murmured as he peppered butterfly kisses on Louis' face which earned him a giggle from the smaller man. "Do you know what that means?" Liam whispered, voice an octave deeper as he nuzzled Louis' neck and bit a little bit of skin there.
"What?" Louis half whimpered, half moaned. He took a step back with Liam’s every step forward, the man was careful as he guided them towards the bed while still marking Louis’ skin.
Liam licked the reddened skin that he bit, then he pulled his face from Louis' neck and stared into the cerulean orbs. "That means..." Liam trailed off as he wiggled his eyebrows.
Louis laughed as he leaned forward and licked the skin below Liam's jaw. Liam groaned making Louis smile against the skin and suck on it. "What does wiggling your eyebrows mean, Li? You need to elaborate.." Louis said seductively, his hot breath fanning Liam's skin, making Liam groan louder and deeper as he gripped Louis' waist tightly and pulled the boy closer to his body.
Louis squeaked at the sudden motion, placing his dainty hands on Liam's chest. Liam took Louis' lips with his own. He bit Louis' bottom lip making the smaller man gasp.
"Li.."
"Hmm?"
"I have a doctor's appointment in 30 minutes."
"What?" Liam asked, pulling away and looking Louis straight in the eyes. Louis took his phone out and showed the appointments to Liam, grinning and wiggling his eyebrows. Liam plopped down face-first on the bed and groaned as he buried his face in the sheets. Louis laughed as he waddled his six months pregnant belly towards the door.
"I'll go check on Ni-ni."
"You're punishing me." Liam said, muffled by the sheets.
Louis laughed again. "I am not."
Just when Louis opened the door, Niall came padding towards him, closed fist rubbing the sleep in his eyes. "Aww, my baby's awake."
Niall perked up at the melodic voice of his Daddy. "Daddy!" He said, running towards Louis and hugging his legs because Louis can't pick him up anymore. Louis cradled his fingers on his son's hair. "How's my ball of sunshine?"
"Good! I missed you Daddy! I wanna show you somethin’. Wait here Daddy." Niall said as he ran towards his room again. Louis sighed happily, staring at his son, leaning on the door frame.
A muscular pair of arms surround Louis' waist and rested on his pregnant belly protectively. "Your son is very hyper." Liam whispered.
"Well, he's very active in my belly." Louis said, leaning against his husband's chest.
"Lou?"
"Hmm?"
"My mind won't change. You're going cesarean this time."
Louis turned around to face his husband. "Liam-"
"I don't want to lose you again like last time. I can't and I won't."
"Alright, alright. If that's what you like and will make you feel better, then its a deal." Louis surrendered, smiling up at his husband.
"Thank you. I love you."
"You're welcome. And I love you too."
"We'll always be together, Lou, right?"
"Of course. It's our pact."
