Thea’s Point of View
Craig had papers in his hands. He followed Cray’s gaze to Wayne. He brushed Cray’s hair and kissed his brow. He pinched its nose but did not carry him. Cray also didn’t come to him and simply stood there watching him.
“It’s great to see you, big boy. How are you doing?” His formerly soft eyes are now beaming. I saw the dark circles around the rims of his eyes. Is he having trouble sleeping? He now glanced at me after he asked Cray.
“I will send money to your bank account for Cray. Please, don’t reject that. Even there, I can be a father to him.” He never looked at me again and just talked to Cray. When he finished, he kissed his forehead and started walking. When he was away, I was just staring behind him. His body had changed so much, I didn’t even notice it. As he walked away, it was as if I wanted to extend my hand and grab him. Until he got in his car, he didn’t look at me. I felt a pain in my heart.
“Thea!” Wayne snapped his fingers in front of my face so I was brought back to reality. His eyebrows met as I looked again at where Craig’s car had left earlier.
“Let’s go inside.” I still have a pain in my heart, but I just don’t care about it anymore and I just put up with it. I never asked Wayne why he wasn’t surprised when he saw I had a child.
When we entered, we saw noisy people. Some complain, get angry and some are being handcuffed to be imprisoned. We approached the man in front of the computer who was typing.
He had on a black leather jacket and was seriously looking at the monitor. They are the ones with high rank and personally investigate serious cases, so I went to him.
“Good morning, officer. I would like to ask about the case of Cynthia Curtis and Jaydon Curtis.” As soon as I sat down, I immediately said my intention. He didn’t speak at first because it looked like he was finishing something on the computer, but suddenly he spoke and leaned back in his chair.
“There is also a man who just asks the same question. Just now. He just left.” The officer yawned, then he stretched his bones and they sounded.
Is Craig the one he is referring to? Why? Why is Craig involving himself in my parents’ case? He should not be affected in this case. I leaned in and was intrigued by what the officer told me.
“He is my husband. Why is he here?” I don’t know if it’s right to say the word husband, but I can’t say anything because we’re still married on paper. I can’t say he’s my friend.
“Isn’t he your husband? You should know what he came here for. And what is your connection to people you asked?” He started typing again on his computer while my thoughts were dancing. Why did Craig come here?
“They are my parents. There was a problem, so I could not immediately handle their case. I learned that the case was closed without any suspects being arrested.” I stared at him as the computer light reflected on his face. He answers me even though he is busy typing.
“We have already investigated. We have not found any problem. That is a pure accident that happened. If you want to open your parent’s case, I can’t do that. We have tried several times to find out what happened and all our investigations have come out the same.” He stopped typing completely and then looked at me. “It was a pure accident. Because it was a chemical factory, the explosion was a big factor in just a small fire.”
I could not answer what he said. I can’t believe it because until now they couldn’t find an answer and could give a reason why my parents went to that place in the middle of the night. What sensible person would go to that place at such a time? The officer got up because it was already noon and it looked like they needed to eat lunch. I bit my lip as Wayne pulled me upright. I’m now thinking about how I can get Mason and Joana out of the company if I don’t have enough evidence.
Entering the car, the helper I asked to come with me was asleep. I didn’t want to wake her up because she looked tired after Cray’s run earlier. Wayne started the car and then made a U-turn when we reached the highway. He will take me to our mansion. As I was thinking, he spoke.
“Why don’t you hire a private investigator. It will cost you a lot and the process will take a long time, but at least you will get the answers to your questions.” He was already slowly running the car, and I saw we were about to enter the gate. In the depths of my thinking, I did not realize that we were close.
“I will think about it. For now, I want to find out what’s going on in the whole house and company so that I can get my answer.” I shook my head because my eyes seemed to hurt.
The car stopped completely. The helper I brought with me was also awake and she was the first to come down. She opened my door and picked up the sleeping Cray. I thanked Wayne... He messed up my hair, but before I could get out of his car, I noticed the little doll in front of his car. I didn’t notice that much earlier.
That doll looks like the beheaded doll that was sent to me when I still have amnesia. I even ran my eyes and saw there was also a sticky notepad on the front and it looked like the notepad that was sent to me along with the beheaded doll. Where it says “The secret hides in the past.”
When he saw where I was looking, he immediately took the sticky note and opened the glove compartment and quickly put it there. I didn’t ask him, but I knew. Doubt lived in my heart.
