Lu Yifeng didn't join them there since he was having a video call conference in his office.
Looking at the clock, Xia Meilin realized that it was almost time for Little Melon to go to sleep.
"Xiao Gua, do you want to sleep with mommy and daddy tonight?"
"Mello will not sleep with momma and dada tonight so that momma and dada can make baby sister. Dada said baby sister cannot be made if Mello will sleep with momma and dada," Little Melon said with a serious face.
Because of Little Melon's statement, Xia Meilin felt her head start aching. Lu Yifeng is definitely tricking their son!
When Mo Jing entered the living room, Little Melon stood up and went to her. He grabbed her long skirt. "Let's go, auntie Mo Jing. Mello's sleepy."
Xia Meilin watched them leave the living room. She sighed in defeat. She stood up and followed them.
Xia Meilin watched Little Melon lie down on his bed while Mo Jing picked a book to read for him.
"Let me do it," Xia Meilin said with a smile as she entered the room.
Mo Jing smiled back at her and nodded. She handed her the picture book and left the two in the room.
Xia Meilin went and sat beside Little Melon. The little boy snuggled close to his mother. "Momma..."
She smiled and gently stroked her son's hair before she turned to the book. "Puss in boots and the three diablos."
Little Melon's eyes sparkled as he saw the adorable cats on the front cover. "Cats!"
"Yes, cats." She chuckled. She opened the book and started reading the story for him.
Little Melon was quietly listening and looking at the pictures of the books while he was hugging his mother. Whenever it was time for his story time, he would always become quiet so that he can listen carefully to the story that was being told.
"And then, Puss in boots said: 'Gracias my little friends for you have shown me that there is glory and sometimes gold in doing the right thing.' They may have gone in their separate ways but the three little kittens will never forget what Puss in boots has taught them. The end." Xia Meilin closed the book and turned to Little Melon.
She can see that Little Melon was trying to keep himself awake until the end of the story.
Xia Meilin smiled at this. She fixed the blanket on him before she placed a soft kiss on his forehead. "Go to sleep, love."
"Good night, momma..." He hugged his cat plushy and finally closed his heavy eyes to sleep.
"Good night, little one."
Xia Meilin watched her son for a while, making sure that he has fallen asleep. She got out of his bed and went to place the book back in his mini shelf.
When she turned off the lights of the room, a starry night light projector lamp was automatically turned on. It filled the room. This made the room look magical.
This lamp wasn't there before... had Lu Yifeng bought one for Little Melon?
Xia Meilin couldn't help but be touched by her husband's sweetness. Aside from being a good husband, he was also being a good father to Little Melon.
Just by looking at Little Melon's room, she can easily tell that it has been carefully designed. She didn't realize this back then, but now that her view of Lu Yifeng has changed, she was able to notice every effort he makes for them.
He may be a person that does not speak about what is on his mind. Others may view him as someone scary and dangerous but they would never know this gentle side to him. His actions speak for himself.
She smiled at this thought. He really wasn't hard to love. Who would not love a person who makes an effort for his family?
As a family-oriented woman, she can tell that Lu Yifeng was the same.
Xia Meilin went to Lu Yifeng's room and found it empty. If he was not in his room, then he should be in his office.
She decided to prepare him a coffee so she went to the kitchen to prepare him one before she went to his office.
Lu Yifeng was in front of his laptop. When he heard a knock on the door, he ended up turning towards it. He saw Xia Meilin enter his office. He was about to ask her why she was there but when he noticed the mug she was holding, he quickly understood.
Xia Meilin quietly walked towards him. "For you." She placed the mug on his desk.
"Thanks." He then turned back to face his laptop to continue the video conference. He was conversing with others in English as they talked about some business project.
Xia Meilin took a piece of paper and wrote something on it before she placed it beside the mug.
Lu Yifeng took a glance at it and upon reading what was written on the paper, his lips slightly curled.
'Don't stay up late.'
He looked at Xia Meilin and nodded.
She smiled at him before she turned away and left his office. She went back to their room and lied down on the bed.
Xia Meilin stared up at the ceiling for a while. She wasn't thinking about anything, she was just staring blankly at it for a while. She ended up sighing when she couldn't fall asleep like that.
She took her phone and started playing games instead. It was until she heard the creak of the door which made her instantly keep her phone under her pillow and start pretending to sleep.
Lu Yifeng entered and saw her figure on the bed. He smiled at what greeted his sight.
He went and lied down beside her. He stroked her cheek with his thumb as he watched her sleep. He leaned and placed a soft kiss on her forehead before he placed his arm on her.
He was about to sleep but he suddenly noticed her face was becoming red, he furrowed his brows. "You're still awake?"
