It wasn't long till Dong Hua arrived to pick her up. He was there to take her back home so that she could get ready for the Charity Gala.
Lu Yifeng hired professional hairstylist and makeup artist to help his wife prepare.
Her hair was swept into a half-up, half-down hairstyle—leaving out two fine layers of hair to frame her face. With her near-perfect features and good skin, the makeup artist decided to apply a light makeup on her face, emphasizing her beautiful hazel-colored eyes and her beautiful oval shaped face. With her makeup and hairstyle, she looked very sophisticated.
Once they were done with it, the hairstylist and makeup artist couldn't help but admire her beauty, it was as if an angel was standing before them. How could someone be so beautiful?
Sitting in his office, Lu Yifeng looked exhausted since he just came from a meeting that lasted four hours straight. He looked at the wall clock in his office and saw that it was almost time for him to pick up his son.
"Dada, why is Momma not with you?" Little Melon asked whilst sitting beside his father inside the car.
"You'll know soon." He patted his head.
When they arrived home, Lu Yifeng went to his room to change into his suit.
Dressed in a well-fitted black suit and a silver necktie, Lu Yifeng's tall and trim physique was accentuated. He didn't need to do anything with his hair and face since his devilish features were already exquisite. His sharp nose, thin lips, and thick brows were dazzling.
He was waiting for Xia Meilin downstairs while checking his phone.
Little Melon, walked up to him while his nanny trailed behind. "Is Dada going out?"
Lu Yifeng turned to him. "Mm. I'm going out with your mother."
"Can Mello go?" His eyes sparkled when he asked this.
"For today, you can't." After all, he didn't want anyone to disturb his moment with his wife, even if it was his son.
Little Melon sulked hearing Lu Yifeng's answer. He hugged his leg. "Will Dada and Momma get a baby sister for Mello?"
His lips curled up upon hearing his son's words. "We will make her for you, but you need to be patient. This is a high-class mission for me."
"Why?"
"You can ask your mother."
Lu Yifeng realized that Little Melon's attention was caught by something so when he turned, his eyes went wide in surprise when he saw Xia Meilin coming down the stairs.
She was wearing a beautiful silver dress that hugged her body, allowing her to show off her curves. With her porcelain white skin, she was able to perfectly pull off the dress. The neckline exposed her elegant collarbone. The design of the dress was perfect for her. She was wearing the diamond jewelry set that paired with the dress. She looked so delicate and elegant.
Xia Meilin walked to them while holding her purse. "I'm sorry, did you wait long?"
He snapped out of his trance. He was captured by her beauty again. Before Lu Yifeng could say something, Little Melon stole the words right out of his mouth. "Momma! You're so pretty!"
Xia Meilin couldn't help but smile at her son's compliment. She bent down and kissed his cheek. "Thank you, baby."
A faint blush appeared on Little Melon's cheeks as he let out a cute and happy giggle.
Lu Yifeng's brow twitched. His son was stealing his wife's attention from him. "We should get going."
She stood up straight and looked at him. "Okay."
After bidding their son goodbye, Xia Meilin and Lu Yifeng entered the limousine.
"You look beautiful tonight." Lu Yifeng finally gave her the compliment as he sat beside her.
She blinked a few times and turned to him. "Thank you. You look ravishing as well."
Lu Yifeng was so tempted to kiss her soft looking lips but he controlled his urge since he already gave her his word that he won't force her.
"Can I kiss you?" That's why he's going to ask her permission instead.
Xia Meilin was startled by what he suddenly said. It made her heart jump. "W-what?"
"I want to kiss you... can I give you a friendly kiss?"
Her face instantly became red. "F-friends don't kiss..."
Lu Yifeng sulked. She still wouldn't allow him. How could she consider him; her husband as a friend and restrict him from showing his affection towards her?
The atmosphere in the car became awkward for both of them. Because of the promise he made his wife, Lu Yifeng was chained by it.
Arriving in the hotel where the Gala was being held, the event was extravagant and star-studded.
Elegant music was being played in the hall. Waitresses and waiters were weaving their way around the guests as they balanced their serving trays. There were well-known artists and businessmen seen chatting while holding wine glasses.
When Lu Yifeng and Xia Meilin entered the dining hall, they were quickly noticed by everyone.
Everyone in the room knew who they were. Lu Yifeng and Xia Meilin were the power couple that the social media had been talking about lately, ever since their marriage to each other was announced.
"Meimei!"
Xia Meilin turned and saw Li Bingbing walking towards her. She was accompanied by an ash grey-haired man who Xia Meilin knew. It was none other than Lu Xian Yu.
Li Bingbing was wearing a strapless red dress with a thigh-high slit. She looked different that night, especially when she was not wearing her glasses. Unlike Xia Meilin who gave off a delicate and elegant look, Li Bingbing was sexy, bewitching everyone with her bold look.
Meanwhile, as usual, Lu Xian Yu looked like he was up to something thanks to his mischievous look. His ash grey hair was neatly pulled back. He was wearing a white tuxedo with a black bow. Aside from that, Lu Xian Yu had a gold earring on his left earlobe and this enhanced his frivolous face.
The moment Lu Yifeng saw Li Bingbing, his eyes became as cold as hell.
"Bingbing, what are you doing here?" Xia Meilin couldn't help but ask since she knew that Li Bingbing wasn't the type of person who would attend such events.
Li Bingbing pointed her thumb towards Lu Xian Yu. "He dragged me here."
Lu Xian Yu placed his hand on her waist, "I needed a partner, and you were the best choice I had." He chuckled as he leaned down and gave Li Bingbing a peck on her lips in front of everyone. This made her earn jealous stares from the women who were eyeing Lu Xian Yu.
Seeing the two act so intimate, Xia Meilin couldn't help but ask, "Are you two dating?"
Did Li Bingbing actually go and meet him that night? Did Lu Xian Yu deceive her? Lu Xian Yu is a player! How could she date someone like him?!
"Nah, we're just friends." Li Bingbing said as she grabbed a glass of wine from the waiter nearby.
"... Friends?"
Lu Xian Yu nodded, confirming what Li Bingbing said. "Yes. We're just friends."
Xia Meilin suddenly felt a chill run down her spine which made her turn to Lu Yifeng.
"They're friends." He said with his low and deep voice.
Although, the way he said it was different as if there was a continuation to it. Xia Meilin was able to understand his envious stare. He was telling her that, 'they're friends and yet they shared a kissed with one other, so why can't we?'
