Tobias POV
I put her in danger. I should have never left her alone. I know better. The way Alpha was sniffing around her. He wants her. He almost had her. He could have damaged in ways I could not fix. She is covered in bites and terrified. I cannot let this happen. I have to take her back. I will just be alone forever. There will not be another. I am done with all of this.
I look down at her cradled in my arms. I want to hold her just a few more moments. I will give her a shot to knock her out. I will take her back to her apartment and leave her there. When she wakes up this will all have been a bad dream.
“Kendra, daddy is going to dress you for bed,” I say to her.
“Oh, daddy I just go up. I do not need to sleep right now,” She says.
“Daddy I have something important to tell you later,” she says.
“Okay baby. Let daddy get you dressed,” I say.
I lay her on the table. I dress her for the last time. I am going to miss her in ways I never thought possible. I have had others. They always left rarely quickly but not her I wanted her to stay with me. I wanted her to be mine.
I pick her up. I hug her tightly. I place her in her bed. She will hate me soon. When she goes back to her life. This life will be like a prison she escaped from. I will be just as bad as Alpha when she recalls this time here with me.
I go downstairs to my room. I open the lockbox I keep the drugs in. I pull out a syringe and a vial. I draw up enough to make her sleepy. I need her to sleep the entire time. When she wakes I want her to be in her bed. I want to be nothing but a dream for her.
I go upstairs. She is already asleep. I gently put the shot in her arms. She should be out long enough for me to return her. This is over. I will leave the pack. I will go far away.
I pack her things quickly. I put a few things in the bag for her to remember me. The stuffed bear I bought her and her favorite sleep shirt. She can keep it or burn it. It is up to her. She loves those two things. I want her to have them if she wants them.
I reach into my pocket. The ring. I slip the ring into the bag. I bought it for her. I want her to have it with her always. I take her bag downstairs. I open my safe. I get out cash for her. She will need it to pay bills until she finds work again. I kept her apartment paid up for her in case she ever wanted to go back. She is good there.
I write down a number for someone who will know where I am. I put that in her bag. I think I have everything. I take the bag to the car. I place the bag in the trunk. I look around to see if anyone is around. I know Alpha will be back. He is pissed.
I go back upstairs. I watch her sleep just for a moment. I gently scoop her up into my arms and carry her downstairs. I walk out the door and place her in my car. I don’t even bother to close the door. Fuck this place. I am not coming back. Her memory is here. I do not want to be here without her.
I buckle her in the seat. I go around to get in the car. No one is coming. Not a soul. Maybe I hurt him enough he will wait before he tries anything else. At least that gives me time to get her out of her.
She sleeps all the way back to her apartment. I pull into the parking garage of her apartment. I get her pass key and door key out of the glove box. I get her bag and purse. I come around to get her out of the car. I gently cradle her in my arms. It is night no one should see us. I walk to the elevator and push the button. She opens her eyes.
“Where are we?” she asks.
“Sleep Kendra,” I say softly.
We go up to her floor. I walk carefully with her. I open her door. The apartment is neat and clean. The cleaning lady I have been paying to clean it has kept it up nice. I take her to her bed and lay her on it. I begin unpacking her things for her.
I have to lay with her just for a moment before I leave. I take off my shoes. I lay down beside her in the bed. I put my arm around her. I hold her. I try not to cry. I am going to miss this more than anything.
She begins to stir a little. I need to go before she wakes up. “Did you drug me? What are you doing?” she asks.
I do not answer. “Tobias do not leave me,” she begs.
I keep walking toward the door. I have to leave. I have to get out of here.
“Wait Tobias, I have to tell you something before you go. You can go but I have to tell you something,” she screams.
I stop. I will let her say what she needs to say. I will let her have closure to this awful mess I created for her.
“Come closer, please. This is not something I want to scream across the room,” she says.
I walk to her bed. I kneel beside her. She takes my hand.
“Tobias, I am pregnant,” she says.
