Juliana's Pov:
Stepping inside the room, all eyes were on us. They all irk a powerful aura. Their cold eyes pierced directly at me which made me want to shrink back and hide behind him. I still didn't even know his name but that is not an issue because I am flicking out already. None of them had a smile on their faces, my legs started getting weaker as we strode inside the room. The guards there stared at me with disgust and if I am not mistaken almost all of them had their eyes fixed on me at one spot with a look of irritation they bore their eyes at me. I yelled within for the ground to open and swallow me up but it looks like at this moment that the ground also has an ear of its own because it seems like I am alone in this one.
All alone with no one to run unto, or to comfort me. It was as if I was in a den full of wild creatures waiting for an opportunity to strike and devour me.
I tightened my grip on him and with difficulty, I managed to keep up with his pace. With a nervous look, I noticed them discussing within themselves. As we approached them I started hearing their murmurs, I felt awkward and troubled as we moved toward them.
"Good day, Queen Rebecca…" he bowed slightly before raising his head. I was waiting for him to bow at the remaining others but to my utmost surprise, they bowed submissively at him.
"Who is this guy?" I asked myself.
"So who is this……..tattered eyesore," the supposed queen Rebecca said with disgust and an irritated look. If I am not mistaken she was the one addressed as the queen.
"She is not an eyesore, and about her clothes……. She was attacked, that's why," he explained.
"I didn't ask you for an explanation and besides how I addressed her as nothing to do with you," she glared. I shift uncomfortably with my head lowered. Her cold voice sends horrifying chills down my spine.
"Attacked as in how," A huge tall guy asked with curiosity.
"Did you see the mystery girl?" His question had my nerves pace at a fast rate.
"No," he replied.
"Then how is she attacked?" He drew.
"Enough of those silly questions, Liam…….. You ask him that at your leisure time," Queen Rebecca said, clearly, looking annoyed with the whole thing.
"Sorry, Queen mother," The huge guy, what's his name again? Oh! Liam bowed in apology. The queen looked stern and strict…….. She looks like a no-nonsense woman.
"Where have you been?" She turned to the guy behind me, I was gazing everywhere to know if I could see the woman he referred to as his mother that would be waiting for him but all I could see was the queen, Liam, and four elderly men.
"I went to have some fresh air and cool my head a bit," he replied.
"You went to cool your head and brought in a hungry giraffe on your way back…….. Should we applaud you for a job well done?" She snarled with a taunting brow.
"She is not a giraffe for goodness sake," he snapped. I indirectly rubbed his palms to stop him from shouting at the woman because she seems like a vicious wolf. I don't want him getting beheaded or punished for my sake. To my surprise, the rubbing of my hands on his palm calmed him down.
"She is a giraffe because the so-called girl doesn't have a wolf," she pretentiously sniffed the air before she focused her attention back on me as mockery and bitterness flashed on them.
"I have the right to call her anything and treat her the way I wished," she furiously snarled as her eyes shone mockery at me. I quickly tore my eye away from her, and a wicked smile slipped into her lips. I felt uncomfortable, my hands started sweating due to tension and nervousness.
"So I told you that I wanted to have a word with you and you left without letting me know your way about," a distinct frown caressed across her face with an arched eyebrow she said.
"We will discuss that later but for now……. " he paused before staring at me, his hard expression softened. I could notice the angry and resentful look I was getting from queen Rebecca but I ignored it and stared deeply into his eyes. It has different emotions in them that I couldn't read no matter how much I tried.
Removing his attention away from mine, he turned to queen Rebecca, "I have a visitor and you know that…." He let out.
"I asked you a question," she glared with anger visible in her tone.
"And I have a visitor," his words angered the queen more, she gritted her teeth together in anger with a clenched fist. I knead his palms to remind him who he is talking to in that manner, despite being here for a few minutes……. I have learned never to mess with this woman if I ever want to survive my stay here.
"But I didn't see anybody here," she snickered wickedly.
"Just stop it!" He loudly exclaimed. He seemed annoyed and angry at the same time, his sudden outburst had me worried. What is his relationship with this woman that makes him talk to her anyhow? I suspiciously stared at him.
"Ryan, you know……
"Don't call my name," he shut Liam up before he could utter a word.
"Ryan," his name calmly rolled out of my lips unknowingly and before I could stop it, it had already slipped out of my lips.
"Hmmm," I scratched my neck nervously, he tenderly looked down at me with a sinful smile. His eyes glinted as his smile widened and I swear this time that I saw something like love and admiration flickered on them. My eyes deepened in confusion, the love in his eye is something that I still can't understand. What have I done to make him love me? We just met not a few hours ago, at least that is not enough time to love someone, but I feel a strange pull towards him.
"I still don't know why you want me to notice this thing here," her words startled me and yanked me back to reality. I unexpectedly distanced myself away from Ryan, he sensed my sudden behavior. He swallowed hard before his eyes turned ice cold sending terrifying chills to my spine.
"Mom! I am trying to keep my cool, don't push me," despite how calm the words came out of his mouth, it still sounds cold with a hint of warning on them.
"Mom!" The word sounds in my head, it vibrates in my ear. I can't seem to wrap it around my head, does he mean as in mother, his mother? Is queen Rebecca his mother? Why did he call her mother, if she is not his mother? Different questions kept popping inside my head at the same time.
I skeptically glanced at the two people in front of me ignoring the rest, he clenched his hands and curled them into fists. I know that he was trying to control his anger because he is bricking his eyes, from his Lycan to his normal eye which scares me.
"What is wrong with you?" His mom yelled.
"My king!!
" My king…… you okay," the elderly men and Liam walked up to him in a flash. I backed away from him as he slowly glimpsed at me.
"My king! As in he is the king…….. The king of the whole supernatural realm," my heart sank inside my stomach. What relationship did I have with a king? I just want to live a normal life without any stress, why found myself amidst the royal ranks? Am I really brought into existence to suffer or dwell in pain forever?
