Juliana's Pov:
Sitting graciously at his chair, Carter ordered "Let the torture begins………
And instantly one of his men whips the lashes forcefully at my back. The whip pierced through my skin like a deeply cut, still trying to regain from the lashes. I felt another whip at my back, and the routine continued. I gritted my teeth to avoid tears rolling down my cheeks, my nails stung deeply inside the tree as I forced myself not to make a voice or show any sign of pain.
My back is full of bruises which I knew will take long before it heals, they kept whipping at the same spot, therefore, causing the wound to get deeper and deeper. Blood was seen bathing out of the place, the more I forced myself to take in the pain, the harder they went on with the whip. Tears started clouding my eyes as my head felt dizzy and I found my surroundings spinning. I fought to keep my eyelid open, I won't allow them to get the reaction that they want from me. Though I don't know how long I can pull up I have to fight back. I refused to gaze at Ariana, I could hear her cries and whimper. Who couldn't feel sad for me? Not after seeing the marks, bruises, and wounds that were covered with blood on my back. I so much wanted to scream and shout, I wanted to let out the pain that burns in my throat but my lips seemed like it was being glued together as no words were coming out.
The whip kept on going as Carter commands them to go harder without any mercy, that man is evil and ruthless. Cruel that he didn't know what it means or feels like to be in pain. I didn't know but my heart hurts more than I could ever imagine, it hurts more than the pain from the wounds on my back. Having gone through tortures and sufferings since your existence, all trampling all over you.
" Ahh!!......." The pain in my heart aches as the word suddenly grunts out of my broken heart.
"Haha……" Carter sneered, "I thought you couldn't feel the pain like it does not affect you….," he narrowed his tone with a wicked smile across his lips, he thought that I was hurting because of the whip! Yes, the whip hurts like hell but the void and aching of my heart hurts more. The pain of always having to experience miseries, grief, and agonies hurt and leaves one shattered.
"Hmmm……." Was the only sound that could be heard from my side.
"Hah, dear, you think so highly of yourself…… I was waiting for you to fight back but you proved to be a weak thing, I thought you act all strong. So tell me why are you drifting back, fighting to stay awake,"
His mockery towards me knew no bounds, I watched with terror as they makes the gist of me. In the end, he ordered his men to go harder despite seeing my condition. Despite seeing the damage that they have done to me, they have condemned my back that even if the wound heals the mark will always be there.
My life was destined to be restless and full of grief.
My body is getting weaker with each passing minute, I slowly glanced at the faces of the slaves, those that we were passing by. None of them wanted to stare me in the eye, they walked with their head lowered though you couldn't dare to miss the pity on their faces. The wounds hurt likewise the pain in my heart, I felt choking, drenched, and unloved. My heart bleeds and breaks into tiny pieces. It slashes and shreds like scrapes. Their laugh kept echoing in the whole place, they were enjoying every single thing.
My life was destined for pain, I was exiled from my pack into the woods as a rogue where I finally found my way to Lucien's pack. There, they conspired and planned on killing me. Escaping I found myself here, being held captive. No bond of happiness and joy has ever entered my life, it was from one problem to another as if I wasn't a human as if I didn't have emotions.
My whole being hurts, and my heart breaks. I only have one wish in this world, even if it seems impossible yet that has always kept me going. I needed to help this person escape from these trenches and livelihood which is not facilitative for them but the problem is how can I do that without blowing my cover? Without the misery power? Without the curse of a power? A disheartened sob escaped from my throat, I shivered in pain.
"So sorry, baby girl, but you have to keep enduring," I shot him a deadly glare causing the silly smile on his lips to widen.
"So are you not going to beg?" He blurted out with a slight frown and with a voice void of no emotions.
I couldn't endure the pain any longer, so I did the only thing at that moment by begging him "Please……. Please, I am sorry," with doused lips and a dry throat, I pleaded.
He slowly walked towards me, holding my chin, he lifted my face to face him. There was going to be a huge bruise where his hand was holding me, I looked up at his face to find him glaring at me. His eyes shot a deadly glare at me as his face was contoured in hatred and disgust.
"Why did you challenge my word?"
"You shouted at my men!" Using the other hand, he pointed at his men, one after another.
"You break every single rule on the first day of stepping your foot here, how ridiculous?" He snarled.
"You thought acting all good will help you here rather it will crush you harder than you least expected,"
"I am warning you, to behave your disgusting self to avoid my troubles……" he instantly shoved my head away from his hold as soon the word left his tongue.
"Uhmm….." I groaned in pain.
Lifelessly staring at him, I watched as he walked back with his hands on his back, "Free her…." That was his order before turning around and leaving the place.
His men untied me, immediately my hands were untied from the tree. I fell instantly to the floor there looking helpless and weak. My whole body felt so heavy to move around, I let out a sad smile as I stared at the sky. My body seems so weak and my eyelids feel heavy to keep awake causing me to slip into the darkness. Closing my eyes, I allowed the darkness to take over.
