I stared at her as she helped me slice the vegetables, she looked old to still be in this kind of environment.
"You stared too much, you know," she muttered, startling me. I gave out a small nervous laugh before diverting my attention away from her.
"What's your name?" I asked.
"Ariana…." She countered.
"From the look of things, I could say that you have mastered their lifestyle here," she spared me a quick glance before focusing on what she was doing.
"Don't worry you will soon get used to it," she assures.
"Used to be here, never!" I reject it.
"Haha…… that is what we all do say on the first day but as time goes on we become comfortable here though not that kind of comfortable," she frowned at the last word that caught my scrutiny.
"What do you mean?" I almost whispered.
"Not every information will be disclosed to you, you find out on your own," she states.
"Come on, these men here seemed mean, so please I need to know how I can be able to avoid their troubles," I lied. I pray she doesn't see through me because I suck at lying. I need to get all the information and run away from here, maybe go into the human world and live there as a normal human. I can't just escape from Lucien's hostage into another one without a break. If this thing continues I might break down.
"How did they find you?" She suddenly asked.
"I was abducted by a man who sold me to them," I said to her.
"How did the man abduct you?"
"I collapsed inside the woods and waking up I found myself in a moving truck," I mumbled.
"What were you doing inside the woods? Collapsed!" She questioned with a raised eyebrow.
"Well, I escaped from home," shrugging my shoulders I told her, this is the only information that I will give her. I don't want to be reminded of my past, the pain and suffering that I went through.
"Why?" Leaving what she was doing, she turned toward me but after hours of not getting any information from my lips, she deeply sighed and looked away.
"I understand that you don't want to talk about it….. Home can be scary sometimes," smiling sadly, she continued "I remembered how I lost my husband after we were turned into a rogue by the Alpha of our pack……." She paused.
"Why…….?" I was confused.
"He stole from the Alpha's personal chamber," she replied.
"Stole!" I gaped.
"Yes…." Nodding her head, she answered. "I can clearly remember that day, the day that my child was very sick. There was no food for her to eat and water to use and drink her medicine……." She sneezed before proceeding with what she was saying.
"Being an omega brings in a lot of pain especially when your back didn't regard them as anything….. We barely eat so my husband strived everything to ensure that we never complain,"
"He stole the food but he was caught and beheaded in our presence……. Being the family of a criminal we were outlawed from the pack and turned into a rogue," she whimpered.
"Staying as a rogue is a terrifying sight, wandering in the woods. I lost my child since she couldn't make it due to hunger, and her sickness…… I decided to give up on life when I was abducted by these angry creatures, I have attempted to take my life at any given opportunity," I rub her back to assure her that she is with someone. She bit her lips to control her pains.
I so much wanted to take away her pain but I couldn't since I don't know how to use the power bestowed on me, I see myself in her though hers was the worst. Having to watch the two people that you cherished too much on the earth die in your presence isn't a good omen.
Mine wasn't good either but I wouldn't like to be in her shoes, but staring at her all I saw was a strong woman. She is too powerful to be able to withstand all this as nothing happened.
"Is all in the past, dear, though you are the first person that I have opened up to since the incident at times when trying to take my life everyone here thought that it is maybe because I am tired of staying here but hell no it was because of the pains that were engraved on my heart for years now," she voiced.
"I understand what you might be passing through, mine wasn't good either……… the pain of not being loved by anybody to the extent that they wished you dead hurts so much," wigging my head, I let out a sad laugh.
"So sad, you are still young to pass through that kind of torture, is that why you ran away from home?" Staring at her for some minutes I nodded my head in response. As much as we are good but I don't think that I am ready to reveal to her my true identity, I am afraid that she might despise me as others have done.
"You are beautiful and seem strong to me, especially your long pink flowy hair," she compliments.
"Thanks," I retorted.
I am a gorgeous maiden but I don't seem to have any happiness within me. Who could be happy when having this cursed power as a gift? I know that I am a curse because the last time that I experienced happiness it ended in a bad state. I was born not to experience any joy in my life which doesn't surprise me because all my life has been from one problem to another. The one person that showed me what true love truly means ended up with my best friend more like my sister, they turned into my enemy and tortured me day to day.
Despite my beauty, I couldn't get a mate of mine, they all rejected me without any second thought. I know that the stigma will live in me for eternity till I perish from the fouls of this earth. I flare my nose as a burning smell hits me, I nervously exchanged a look with the woman and that's when it dawned on us the meat was burning.
"The….the meat!" I screamed.
