"Do you think I’m dead?" Zhao Changsheng’s fox-like eyes narrowed, thunder surged in her hands, and a five-meter-long Thunder Whip slowly formed in her grip.
The man took one look and muttered in trouble, "Damn, this woman is a Level 2 Thunder Element, quick! Let’s go!"
His face almost distorted with fear as the driver revved the engine and charged forward.
The Thunder Whip narrowly missed them and struck the ground, sparking a flurry of sparks.
"Damn it, told you to keep it down," the driver cursed resentfully.
"It’s fine, isn’t it? Their junk car can’t catch up," the bearded man retorted stubbornly.
No sooner had he spoken than a one-meter-tall ice spike burst from the ground, piercing straight through the jeep’s body and severing it in half into scrap metal.
The two men tumbled out of the car and rolled on the ground.
In the military vehicle, Lu Chen’s eyes shone with a cold light.
"Dare to insult my sister, I’ll crush you to death."
Jianxiong floored the accelerator, driving directly over the bearded man’s wrist.
Accompanied by the man’s agonized screams, Zhao Changsheng blew a kiss from the roof of the car and showed her middle finger to the rear. Su Mo still wore a smiling face, some people just needed to be dealt with.
The sorry state of the jeep made the cars behind them keep their distance, having seen the whole process.
She leaned back in her seat, opened the panel, and summoned the fishpond. A Crucian Carp cost 5 points. Su Mo glanced at the upgrade progress bar below and bought a few more to throw in.
The energy from the grass carp was too little; she decided to use less of it. The pond still teemed with lively shrimps, and Su Mo resolved to cook some shrimp for dinner later that evening.
After driving all morning, the repair shop indicated on the map gradually came into view. Two modified cars were parked at the entrance, indicating someone had got there first.
The group got out of the car; Li Qian’s spiritual power had enveloped the entire repair shop already, he frowned and said, "There are quite a few people inside."
There were clearly Level 2 superpower users in the repair shop; he detected the spiritual power spying on them right away.
Outside, a large iron gate was shut. Inside, one roller door was raised, and two bare-chested men walked out.
"Do we have any other repair shops we can go to?" Su Mo asked.
Li Qian glanced at the map and shook his head, "There are, but this one’s the biggest and the next one is too far."
Zhao Changsheng had already jumped down from the car roof and walked over, Su Mo looked at her and said, "Let’s get out of the car."
Lu Chen tossed a backpack full of food to Jianxiong, and Su Mo stuffed a few bottles of superpower restoring tea into it before getting out.
The people inside the iron gate didn’t underestimate them but rather heightened their alert.
Worried that Zhao Changsheng might act impulsively, Li Qian walked over first and said, "Don’t misunderstand, our car broke down and we just want to fix it here."
Zhao Changsheng huffed through her nose and stepped aside to let him speak.
Li Qian pointed at the front of the military vehicle. The two men inside looked at the front bumper, which was dented halfway in and hanging off, one of them asked him, "How many people are you?"
"All here," Li Qian smiled warmly, his glasses lending him a polite appearance.
Su Mo and Lu Chen stood by the roadside while the rest came down from the vehicle.
Three men and three women, one of them a child and a woman.
The caution of the two men lessened considerably. After a quiet discussion, the iron gate was opened.
Li Qian smiled his thanks.
After getting approval, Jianxiong went back to drive the car, and Su Mo followed alongside Lu Chen as they walked inside, Zhao Changsheng with his long legs followed right behind.
At the entrance was a large open space fenced off by a wall, inside which were three roller shutter doors, and they followed into one that was half open.
Inside the door was a large internal repair shop, spacious with many people, mostly young and strong men, and among them a few disheveled women with downcast expressions.
As Su Mo passed these women, she knew what role they were playing.
They were led to an office.
On the office desk was a radio, continuously broadcasting the latest news about Base City B.
"I am Jiang Hai, the highest commander of Jiang Residence, we have the most complete defense system, safety equipment, with a vast capacity to accommodate a hundred thousand people, Base City B welcomes you..."
"Brother Sheng, the people have been brought here," the person said and then stepped back and left.
Behind the square desk in the office sat a slender young man who looked to be just a student, and beside him, a woman in a black strappy tight dress with a figure that seemed devilishly enticing.
When that woman saw Lu Chen, her beautiful eyes paused for a moment.
Upon entering, Lu Chen had deliberately concealed his aura, yet his outstanding appearance and distinguished presence still caught the young man’s attention at a glance.
"My name is Sheng Yuan," the young man pushed the woman off him and reached out his hand.
"Lu Chen," the man reciprocated his handshake.
Su Mo sized up the young man, short black hair, a malnourished physique—was he the leader of these people? Deeply hidden indeed.
After the handshake, Sheng Yuan lazily fell back into the chair, and the sexy woman obediently sat back on his lap, "Are you passing through?"
"The car broke down, just borrowing some tools," Li Qian replied with a smile.
"Of course you can," Sheng Yuan nodded, his long narrow eyes slightly lifting as he stroked his chin and added, "But... there will be a repair fee involved."
His fingers waved at them, blinking his eyes, "What price can you afford?"
"What do you want?" Su Mo quipped with a smile, raising an eyebrow.
"Clearly, it’s food," the woman on Sheng Yuan chuckled covering her mouth as she answered for him.
He patted the woman’s buttocks approvingly, his gaze resting for a moment on Su Mo and Zhao Changsheng, "If there’s no food, offering those few brothers a share of women could also work, how well it’s fixed will just depend on how well they serve them."
Su Mo’s smile at the corner of her mouth froze. Sheng Yuan only felt a chill on his neck as she was suddenly in front of him, a Tang Blade inching a few millimeters into his flesh, drawing a line of blood.
"I think... you might want to show some more respect towards women," she pushed the knife a few millimeters deeper with a smile, "Don’t you think?"
The frightened woman from Sheng Yuan’s lap fell to the floor and shrunk into the corner.
"Girls, shouldn’t be violent," he didn’t seem worried at all, his body emitted a golden light, his skin becoming incredibly hard. Su Mo, relying on the strength bonus from the Crucian Carp dish, chopped a few more millimeters in until the blade could no longer penetrate, and then she stopped.
Lu Chen’s superpower condensed in his hand, an Ice Blade charged with massive energy thrust towards Sheng Yuan.
The man was taken aback, the Ice Blade grazed his head and embedded in the wall behind, slicing off a lock of his hair that had hardened.
"I think, I might be able to offer you free repairs," he said.
That instant, he felt the terrifying dominance from those superior to him, his hairs stood on end, his superpower dissipated and fresh blood flowed from his neck, staining his shirt red.
Su Mo sheathed her knife with a smile and went to stand beside Lu Chen, "Then we are so very sorry."
