“Sir?”
Valerie raised her brows, confused. Why would the President ask her who she was conversing with over the phone? Is that part of her work in the mansion? Should he invade her privacy? Plenty of thoughts kept running through her mind.
Ethan shook his head, and scoffed. “I just asked you who it was you were speaking with”.
“Uhm… it's a friend of mine” Valerie managed to say. Ethan turned his gaze at her immediately. It was obvious he was in doubt. His facial expression showed it all.
“A friend? A friend that you miss so much, isn't that too much for a friend?” The President smiled dryly, and she turned her gaze away.
After a few minutes of silence between them, Valerie broke the silence. “I'll retire to bed, Sir. I'm glad you liked the food”.
With that, she walked out of the bedroom and shut the door behind. Heaving a sigh of relief, she headed towards the servant's quarters. Then she thought of Nicole again, and giggled.
She met Nicole the moment she arrived at Northridge. She was homeless, cashless, and jobless. Likewise, she didn't have anywhere to go. Luckily, she met Nicole. He offered her a place to stay, and she was able to get a job with his help. That was where she met Susan and Andrew. Even though they weren't related in any way, he still treated her so nicely. But then, Nicole had to leave Northridge all of a sudden.
“After two long years, Nicole. I can't believe you're coming back again”.
She dialed his number, and placed the phone on her ear. She couldn't wait to speak with him.
“Hey, doll. Where the f*** are you? You had to cut our conversation short” Nicole's deafening shriek echoed out of the phone.
Valerie laughed, and replied. “Scoundrel! Do you plan for me to lose my job? I'm sure you don't know that I already got a decent job at a reputable home”.
“Reputable home? What kind of job is done at home? How awkward!” Nicole snorted, clicking his tongue noisily.
Valerie responded. “I got a job as a nanny in a very wealthy family. Trust me, Nick, the pay is so good to be true. Though, I'm still on probation”.
“Whatever. I'm coming back to Northridge tomorrow, baby. Aren't you coming to the airport to see me?” Nicole seductively said, and Valerie chuckled.
“Rascal! Why not? I'm off work tomorrow. I'll be there, okay?” Valerie giggled.
“Good girl, doll. See you tomorrow”.
“Bye, Nick” Valerie hung up, and smiled broadly.
“I can't wait to see you tomorrow, Nicole”
Meanwhile, the sun rays directly from the window to Justin's eyes. He gradually opened his closed eyes, and felt his head banging hard.
“Ouch! How did I sleep off last night?” He mumbled, and his gaze went straight to the person who was lying beside him on the bed.
Furthermore, he was shocked to realize he was half naked, and so was the person sleeping beside him peacefully. “Patricia?” He called out.
Patricia smiled at him immediately and she opened her eyes. She grabbed the duvet tight, and held Justin's hand.
Shocked, Justin stared at her with confusion written all over his face. Why the hell was Patricia sleeping beside him? Why are they both naked?
“What is going on here, Patricia? What in God's name happened here?” He tried as hard as he could to keep his voice down.
Patricia pretended to be confused as well. Of course, she knows everything she was doing. “Justin, what are you talking about? Isn't it obvious that something happened between the both of us last night?”
“What? You took advantage of my drunken state, you scheming witch”.
Blinking her eyes rapidly, Patricia feigned tears. “How dare you?” She slapped Justin hard on the cheek.
Justin narrowed his eyes. He still couldn't believe it was Patricia who was lying next to him. “How dare you, Justin? You got drunk and pounced on me. Do you still have the guts to accuse me wrongly? Furthermore, you're unbelievable, Justin”
Upon saying that, Patricia gathered the duvet to her chest, shedding crocodile tears, she rushed into the bathroom and shut the door.
Justin was in a trance. Did he really take advantage of her? How could he get so drunk by taking just a glass of dry gin?
Patricia chuckled softly. Finally, she had turned the table over. Now, Justin will always blame himself for taking advantage of her.
“Now, I have Justin in my palms. It's time to take him all to me”.
At the airport the next day, Valerie couldn't help but wait impatiently and glancing at the airport terminal.
“Shouldn't he already be here?”
She was busy on her phone when she felt someone tap her shoulder, and she turned around swiftly. “Nicole!”
Squealing in excitement, she hugged him tightly. The tall, handsome looking dude couldn't help but kiss her forehead with smiles all over his face. “Doll, you look chubbier”
That was all he said. Valerie quickly disengaged the hug and punched his stomach a little. “Ouch! I just got here, but you are already hurting me. How fierce!”
Valerie laughed, rolling her eyes. “How dare you call me chubby? I've always been a slim, beautiful lady. Don't you dare, you rascal!”?
“Oh, I missed you, doll” Nicole hugged her again, and they pecked each other.
“Me too”
They were on their way out of the airport when three sparkling Porsche cars drove towards them. “Who are they?” Valerie stood behind Nicole.
“There's no need for you to be afraid, doll. They're here to pick me up. We'll get into the car” Nicole patted her hair.
Upon hearing that, Valerie pouted her mouth, and said. “Porsche cars? When did you become that rich, Nick?”
“Come on, Val. Who said I was poor, anyway?
“But…” Valerie paused. The car door opened, and to her greatest surprise, President Ethan got out of the car. Her jaw dropped in astonishment.
Ethan couldn't believe his eyes when he saw her, standing beside Nicole with her fingers wrapped together. “Miss Valerie Watson?”
