“I..” Kimberly stammered and Landon showed up staring at both of them suspiciously. “Would someone love to tell me what the meeting behind my back Is all about?” Landon asked, looking at Kim. “It is nothing son. I just wanted to have a chat with her.” Sara responded and Landon nodded slowly.
“Then I would be so glad to join the conversation,” Landon said, sitting near his mom and Kimberly scoffed silently. “Oh, never mind. We are done. Right, Kim?” she asked and Kim nodded, putting on a fake smile. “Yes ma'am. We are done.” She said happily. Thank God Landon came to save her from his mother.
“Fine. What do you want to eat?” Landon asked Sara, ignoring Kim. Kim stood up and waited for Sara's response so she could go and start preparing it. “Anything goes. You have known that before Landon. Let her go into the kitchen and cook whatever she feels I will love.” Sara said, and Kim's eyes widened.
“How will I even do that? How will I know what she likes?” Kim thought but still kept her fake smile on. “You heard her, Kim. Get into the kitchen and prepare something for her.” Landon said and Kim nodded. She walked away with a frown on her face. “how do I go about this?” She got to the kitchen and opened the refrigerator. She was damn confused, she didn’t know what to cook, or where to even start from.
“What do I do now? What if she doesn’t like what I cook? I may be fired.” Kim mumbled in fear. “Hey,” Landon whispered behind her, making her flinch in fear. “What the…” She yelled and he quickly placed his finger on her mouth. “Shhhhh”.
“Don’t scream or you are gone.” He said and Kim nodded with her eyes widened. He released his hand from her mouth slowly. “Why did you do that? You startled me.” She whispered, and he sighed. “What do you want to prepare?” He asked, and she shrugged.
“I don’t know. She didn’t specify what she wants, and I can’t prepare what she may not like.” She answered. “So you just came into the kitchen to do what? To think?” Landon asked, and she frowned. “Don’t start acting like it is an easy thing. Who knows if she has allergies like you? What if I prepare something that could cause harm to her?” Kim asked, waving her hands in the demonstration.
“Fine. Make pasta, the sauce should not be peppery, and add some balled meat.” He said in a whisper. “Now that is better. You should have done this first, not trying to act like the boss every time.” She muttered, facing the refrigerator again. “Don’t start your drama. Get the meal done, and I am still your boss.” He stated, and she rolled her eyes.
“Expect it in the next forty minutes.” She said and Landon's eyes widened. “Forty minutes? For just pasta and sauce?” He asked, and Kim sighed looking back. “Will you do it instead? Keep her busy with mother and son's talk. Forty minutes will pass in no time. And you should go now so I can concentrate, if not that forty minutes will extend to an hour.” She uttered nonchalantly, and Landon glared at her for minutes before walking to the door.
Why does he tolerate her so much? If it was someone else, he or she would have been sent out of the house. But he didn’t want to chase her, he kind of loved the drama. He almost walked out of the kitchen when he paused again. “What was my mother discussing with you?” He asked and Kim sighed, dropping her shoulders weakly. “Nothing Mr. Landon, nothing you should know.” She replied without looking at him.
“Just know that whatever she tells you, don’t mind her. She loves talking.” He said and she smiled. “Thank you.” She replied and he finally turned to take his leave. He got to the living room and met his mother staring at the TV.
“You went to tell her what to cook right?” his mother asked and he furrowed his brows. “Of course not. I went to do something else.” He said, and his mother giggled. “You keep proving to me that you see this lady more than a maid. I know you went to tell her what to cook so I won’t be disappointed in her. You truly care about her.” She said, and He shook his head.
“It’s not the way you are seeing it. I did it for you, I don’t want you to eat something you wouldn’t enjoy. It’s been a long time since we had a meal together, I want it to be perfect.” He said, and his mother smiled. “That is so sweet of you. But I still stand on my instincts because they don’t deceive me. You are in love with that lady, you can fight it all you want. You are in love with her.” She said and Landon scoffed.
“Mom, she isn’t my type,” Landon uttered. “Really? Then why don’t you have your type with you now? Why are you still single?” His mother asked. She was ready to tackle him over the issue.
“That is because none of them are to my taste. I am searching for one, Mom, believe me.” He said, and she smiled. “Then I think I can be of help then. She will be here in a few minutes.” She uttered and Landon furrowed his brows.
“Who?” He asked. “A Lady I have been keeping for you. You know I know your type of lady, so you would love her. No need to search anymore because she would be here for you.” She said, and Landon creased his brows even more. “What? Mom, you didn’t have to do that.” He said in shock. “Since you claim you don’t have feelings for your maid. Trying to make something out with another lady shouldn’t be hard.” She said, and he sighed.
“Fine.” He said and she smiled. After minutes of Landon thinking about what his mother said. The doorbell rang, and Landon exchanged looks with his mom. “She is here.” She said and he stood up to get to the door. He opened the door and found a beautiful lady in front of the door. She was wearing a skimpy dress and beautiful shoes. “Hi.” She said, and Landon was stunned by her voice. “Hi, come in,” he said, and he could hear his mother giggling.
“Thank you.” She said walking in. She stood at the door looking around the house in awe. It looked so big, and she felt so happy inside of her. “Come on in.” His mother said to her and she nodded walking to where she sat. “Welcome. Sit.” Sara said, and she sat on the couch composing herself.
Landon walked up to them and sat on the other couch looking at the new girl. “So Landon, this is Abigail. And Abigail, this is my wonderful son Landon.” Sara introduced him. “Nice meeting you, Landon,” Abigail stated and he smiled.
“Nice meeting you too.” He replied and they stared at each other.
Kimberly came out of the kitchen carrying the pot of pasta in her hand. She got to the dining room and looked at the living room to see a new lady among them. “Who is she?” She asked herself, placing the food on the table.
“Food is ready.” His mother said and they all looked at Kimberly who was still staring at the new lady. “Why is she wearing such a short gown?” She thought as they all approached the table. She walked to the kitchen to get the remaining dishes and while she was still in there, Landon walked in.
“You didn’t use up to forty minutes.” He said and she scoffed. “I used forty-three minutes, but I guess it flew so fast because you are busy with your girlfriend.” She said with a smile on her face walking out of the kitchen.
