"I am tired, what the fuck do these people take me for?"
Rafael yelled, this was not the way he wanted the year to end, it was not going according to his plan, how hard was it to just approve the damn thing.
"Sir, calm down, we just have to I keep calm to get what we want, you know the way people in power act, we can't let them get to us, that would be giving them what they want,"
His lawyer said, Rafael understood what he meant but still he was pissed, he met with the governor three times already, there was no problem, yet the department of mining and mitigation is refusing to give their final approval, he was this close to just going ahead with his works without getting their signature, all they need to do is a sign, he already agreed to their ridiculous rules and regulations and had everything they asked for, every safety precautions, Every damn thing and yet it was just a day to the end of the year, no today was the last day of the year and still no answer from them.
"I understand what you mean but this is too much, they are holding my other works down, I can't keep going over the same things,"
"Sir, it's the holidays seasons and you know a lot of things can't be done, my advice is we wait till when the holidays are over, which it will be next week, I am sure there will be responses,"
"And if there is none?"
He asked, if only things had gone the way he planned, he won't be sitting here in his office on New year's Eve still talking about a deal that should have been done already.
"We will file for a petition,"
"Okay, fine, I don't want to be the one to keep you drop your family today, let's call it a day here and we will meet again next year hopefully under favorable conditions,"
"Of course, thank you,"
The three of them chorused, he stood up and followed them out of the office, he didn't have anywhere he wanted to be, he didn't want to go back home yet and he didn't want to enter the new year drunk, so alcohol was out of it, he was still thinking if what he was going to do when his phone rang, he had heard it buzz during their meeting and had ignored it, he looked at the call.
"Josie,"
He whispered, he didn't want to take the call, he didn't want to meet with her today, but if he didn't take it she would keep calling.
"Josie?"
He called after reluctantly picking up the call, he was in no mood for small talks.
"Rafael, finally, I thought you were ignoring my calls on purpose,"
"No, I wasn't, I was in a meeting with my legal team,"
"Oh, but it's New Year's Eve, you are supposed not to be at the office today,"
"Says who? There is no law stating that I can't come to work today,"
"Yeah, I know but,"
"Josie, please,"
"Alright, can we hang out tonight and start the New year together?"
"Hmm, I don't know about that, I am not doing anything special, just going to go home and sleep into the new year,"
He replied he hoped she would back out he wanted to be on his own, alone with his beer.
"You will die a lonely man if you continue this way,"
The voice in his head whispered.
"We can do that together, I want to start the New year with you,"
She said.
"Say yes, say yes, say yes,"
The voice singed clouding his head.
"Huh, Josie, I don't think that will be possible,"
"Come on Rafael, anyway whether you like it or not, I am already at your house, so start coming,"
She ordered, okay that was offensive, both her order and her going to his house without telling him, he hated it when people overstep the line he draws, he never gave her permission to go to his house when he wasn't there, heck he didn't even tell her his password.
"Josie, how do you know my password? And why didn't you tell me you were coming over?"
He asked not caring if he sounded harsh.
"Relax Rafael, you unlocked it in my presence before remember? And I am pretty good at keeping things like that in my memory, as for not telling you, that's why I have been calling you, o just got here, so if you want me to say outside and wait for you I will."
She replied. He didn't like it, she was doing too much, first telling Nicole that they were in a relationship, he hasn't even confronted her about that, and now she was in his house without waiting for his permission, he wasn't going to let it slide, he got in his car and drove all the way home in a bad, bad mood when he opened the door, Josie was once again wearing an apron in his house, he didn't like her agenda, she was pushing it and it went pleasing, to make things worst, she ran to hug him, he hugged her back, of course, he didn't want to look cold but her words, it kept making it worse.
"I made dinner, you can go take a shower and come and eat,"
She said, it was supposed to be a nice gesture but it wasn't for him, he didn't like it, didn't like that she was acting all wifey to him.
"Josie, please stop,"
He said, when he opened his door and realized she had been in his room, he left it unorganized and she had cleaned it up, for some reason he didn't like that.
"What? I didn't do anything or say anything,"
She said coming behind him.
"Yes, you did, not only did you come to my house uninvited, but you were also in my room,"
"Okay I know I should have waited for permission to go in but about the room, I just helped in tidying it, how is that a bad time Rafael?"
"It's not a bad thing, I am just saying you shouldn't be doing this, we don't have that kind of relationship, you shouldn't be in my personal space especially when I am not there, everything about this whole thing is not sitting well with me,"
"Wow, calm the heck down a minute, I was only trying to help,"
"And I am saying I don't need your help, I don't need you cooking for me or cleaning after me I can do that myself, if I can't I can get workers to do so just fucking stop pushing this domestic agenda we are never going to have that kind of a relationship,"
He yelled at her, he knew he shouldn't be yelling but he has told her before, okay not everything but when she had cooked for him, he had told her not to do it again, seeing her with an apron on trying to be domestic didn't go well with him.
