Rafael woke up the next morning with a banging headache, he looked around the room, it was nice and clean, he got off the bed holding his head, trying to remember the events of last night, all he could remember was him getting himself so drunk and then calling Nicole, God the things he said to her made his head spin, what made it even worst was the fact that after all those things, she still hung up and told him to sleep it off, she really hates him.
"You are finally up,"
Josie said entering his room, she was on an apron, he didn't remember calling her, how did she get here? She didn't know where he lived either, maybe he called her, he couldn't remember anything from last night except talking to Nicole.
"Josie, hi, did I call you?"
"Huh, no you didn't, Caleb did, he said you drank too much last night and was drunk calling him, he is out of town as you may already know and he asked me to check up on you this morning, he was the one that gave me your address, I didn't even know you can live somewhere like this, it's really nice,"
"Oh, thank you, I recently got it, did you meet anyone here when you came?"
"Huh? No one, I didn't meet anyone, you were alone, did you come home with someone?"
"No, I was thinking my ex-wife dropped by, must have been a dream,"
He wondered how the dream had looked so real, he could have sworn that he could still taste her lips against his, how could he have imagined that much.
"I am the only one here, must have been a dream, Caleb told me what happened, is that why you drank so much? You should have called me, if Caleb hadn't called then I won't have known, I thought we agreed to be each other's knight?"
She said sitting on the bed with him.
"Yeah, I didn't think of it, I am sorry, next time I will call you,"
He didn't really think of her and didn't even remember her, the only person he could remember talking to was Nicole, maybe he had called Caleb again after he has gotten too drunk.
"Good,"
She responded pushing him back and getting on top of him, before he could protest, her lips were on his, her two hands holding his face, he had his eyes open for a few seconds, he slowly closed them and let her kiss him, he couldn't resist kissing her back, taking over the kiss, he turned so that he was on top of her, she had her arms wrapped around his neck as the kiss grew even more intense, it's been so long he tasted lips, the last time he kissed someone was the day he left Nicole in the house, he shook off her thoughts and concentrated on the woman beneath him, she tasted better than he thought but not as good as his woman. His woman.
He thought pushing Josie off him, he couldn't do this, at least not now.
"But why? She has someone else now and they have probably kissed a lot,"
His subconsciousness whispered, he ignored it, even if that's the case, he still wasn't ready to be intimate with another woman yet.
"What? Why?"
She asked still dazed from the kiss.
"I am sorry Josie, but I am not ready for that kind of intimacy right now, I don't want to rush into anything and regret it,"
He said getting off the bed, his muscles hurt it must be from too much drinking, he didn't know how he got home last night and couldn't remember anything.
"Why? For how long do you plan on holding on to the past? You said it yourself that your ex-wife already moved on so what's stopping you from doing the same? Is it because you don't find me desirable?"
Josie asked, she was offended by his words and he didn't even know why, his words weren't referring to her but himself, he was the one not ready and he hasn't promised her anything yet.
"It has nothing to do with you being desirable or not, it's more of I don't want to rush into anything right now and regret it, I have a lot on my plate, just because some crazy power-obsessed old men sat together and have a rejection to a project I have spent months on doesn't mean I will give it up just like that, and also I can't be with anyone right now because as much as I am trying to lie to myself and say I don't feel anything towards my ex again, I can't lie to you, that won't be good, I am not over Nicole and I can't be with you while my heart belongs to another, if you don't want to be friends then it's fine,"
He replied.
"I am sorry, I was just, don't take what I said the wrong way, I guess I understand where you are coming from, sorry,"
"It's fine Josie, you don't need to apologize, I am not pushing you away, just asking for you to give me a little time to work on myself and sort out my current mess,"
"Okay, I will give you time, but I can still be around you right?"
"Sure but we can only be friends,"
"Understandable,"
She said and left him in the room, he walked into his bathroom and took a bath, he could still feel her taste on him, when he got out of his room, she was sitting on the dining table.
"Hey, wanna eat something? It will help with a hangover,"
She said, he already sat before she could finish, he ate as much as he could before thanking her.
"Thank you for coming around Josie, I am guessing you are the one that brought me home?"
"Huh, no, I didn't, I came in this morning and met you sleeping,"
"What? How did I get home and how did you get in?"
"Huh, well, the thing is,"
