"What is it? Why are you apologizing?"
He asked, hoping that whatever it is would not make him lose her as an assistant, he liked her too much to lose her.
"The results of the Congress, it came in from the department of mining and mitigation this morning, I don't think it's in our favor,"
She revealed and he realized she might not have looked so down because of what was going on with Caleb and her, neither was she thinking of quitting, he looked at the file she was carrying.
"Is that it?"
"Yes sir, it got in as I entered the office,"
"But I thought it was till evening,"
"I know that's why I feel it didn't go as planned,"
She said handing him the file, he opened and flipped to the end, a deep frown taken over him as he read the rejection, that wasn't the part that made him make, no, it was the reason for the rejection that got him all angry, he should have known those old fools will pull a stunt like this, they always mess up and always try to justify what they do, what? They don't think he is fit to run his own mine? What the heck the that even mean? He was fit in every way, he had all the resources and everything needed to smoothly run a mine but they had the gust to reject his proposal saying he wasn't fit?
"Fuck!!"
He let out.
"They didn't approve it? I knew that would be the case,"
"Yeah, this is bullshit, I don't get how I am unfit to run this thing when I have the finances and every damn resource,"
He said feeling his rage getting worst, this shouldn't be happening, he expected it but at least with a good reason, not with something like he was unfit, what did they mean he was unfit? He called the man in charge of the mining department but could only get through to his secretary, he left a message, he had all the paper works, everything, he just needed the people in power to give their words but they failed.
"Armani, I am out, cancel everything on my schedule,"
He said picking up his phone and suitcase, he needed to talk with someone that stuff written on that paper wasn't a good reason, they had better come up with a better reason why they are not letting him do his thing, he waited at his office till six pm but the stupid man didn't show up even after a call was put across to him, mad beyond definition, Rafael decided to cool off and rebrand after leaving a message with the secretary, he went into the Jokers club and asked for his usuals, she sat at his favorite spot in the VVIP section.
Rafael tried to control his intake of alcohol but he couldn't, this was too much, all he needed was for them to give a go ahead, he wasn't asking for a loan, he had all the money needed to carry out this plan, he just needed the governor and everyone who had the power to approve it do the need for but they choose not to let him do his thing, he should have known, they didn't even give him a good reason for not accepting, he downed another glass of alcohol and another, he hated this feeling, hated to be made a fool of, for once he had gone against his moral and dined with those fucked ass politicians trying to please them so that they would talk in his favor but at the end it has all been a waste of time, he should have known better than to trust people in power, he should have done his thing and just wait for their usual talk then he could have shut them up, but a mine wasn't just like any other thing, it requires a lot and he had spent money, millions of money making sure it will pass, but still it didn't.

He let out, he was past this, long passed this, he shouldn't be experiencing rejection again, he hated it so much, didn't like this feeling of being powerless, he was rich now, was powerful, he shouldn't let their rejection get to him but he fucking worked hard for it, he wanted that mine and he had to get it, his goal was to become a trillionaire by the middle of the new year and if he could get those damn papers to approve them he would be on his way there, not just him, slot of people will benefit from it too.
For once Caleb wasn't around to be his drinking buddy, he was alone, once again he was a loner, Caleb was out of town for business and he didn't want to disturb his only friend with his problems, there was only one other person he could call, but he doubts if she would take his call, not with the way he acted with her in New York, she would hate him now, still he picked up his phone and shamelessly called her number, expecting another rejection.

He called, she picked up, he hadn't expected her to, taking another glass full of alcohol and pouring another in, he waited to hear her voice and let out a heavy sigh when she talked.
"Rafael? What do you want that you call me so late?"
"Why? Can't I call you? You are my wife,"
"Did you forget Rafael? You can't call me that anymore, what do you want? Have you been drinking again?"
She asked, her voice sounding harsh, he hasn't heard her talk like that before, she really changed so much.
