The Ascendant Wizard Chapter 6

[Running Simulations... 685,465 Simulations Complete.] [Further Simulations Are Improbable.] Morena sat still, staring at the projected results in her mind. The AI had run countless iterations, analyzing the technique from every possible angle. It would use any information she had to run a possible route, every change it made was a change she could make in reality. From how often she trained, to how she trained, even interactions with people in her memories, using information from her mind, and so on. It ran every possibility with the information she currently had, and while that in itself was amazing, the truly amazing fact was that this was merely the surface. The conclusions were predictable, yet still frustrating. [Modified Training Method: Functional but Highly Ineffective.] Severe Energy Loss: The technique fails to retain most of the absorbed energy, resulting in wasted effort. Low Elemental Sensing: While it allows limited sensing, the sensitivity is far lower than a normal warrior’s based on collected statistics. Core Stability Risk: Overuse of elemental energy could worsen fractures or trigger backlash. Warning! Danger to life is possible! Required Training Style: Sessions must be short, controlled, and evenly paced to prevent further degradation. Due to this, the timeframe is extended beyond the optimized frame. Estimated Growth Rate: Time needed to reach Stage Three Trainee: 4-5 years.] She clicked her tongue as she finished going over the important things. The time required to reach the third stage wasn’t slow in normal warrior training terms, in fact, it was quite average, and that was after the AI took into account her slowed pace. But for someone like her, who needed power as soon as possible, it was still far from ideal. But it was better than nothing. At least she could gain some power while working to improve it along the way. She let out a slow breath and leaned back in her chair, rubbing her temple. "Not great. But I’ll make it work." There was no point wasting time. She needed to train, but first, she had to deal with her dutiful maid. She had already prepared the meal that Morena had ordered and came to notify her, yet she was simply waiting to the side to avoid disturbing her. The scent of warm food drifted toward her as she entered the dining hall, her meal already set at the table. The maid had done as instructed, and done it quite skillfully at that. A simple, balanced meal—light meats, grains, and vegetables, enough to sustain a training regimen without excess. She sat down and ate in silence, the hall empty aside from her and the maid, her family all out at this moment for various reasons. But that was perfect for her. After all, her mind was focused elsewhere. The AI’s results kept replaying in her thoughts. If she wanted to change the results, she needed more data. She didn’t know how to collect that, though. For now, she focused on her meal. The meal was necessary, but her true priority was what came after. Finishing the last bite, she set the utensils down neatly before standing. She avoided the main corridors, taking a less-traveled route back to her room. She had no desire to be seen or questioned. Once inside, she locked the door behind her and closed all the curtains so that no one could look inside. The room was dim, only the faint light that leaked through the curtains illuminating the space, but it was perfect for what she wanted to do. This would be her training ground for the foreseeable future, at least until she had a foundation to stand on to be made public. She took a deep breath, steadying herself, before moving to the center of the room. [Training Mode Activated.] Her breathing slowed, body settling into the proper stance. She guided her limbs according to the technique’s revised flow that was implemented into her mind. Warriors trained by moving their bodies in such a way that it could naturally absorb and condense the elements around them. While it may look simple to some, these movements were very strenuous on the body. Because of this, Morena was already covered in sweat after merely a few minutes. This new technique was supposed to be a controlled cycle, allowing her to circulate the surrounding elemental energy through her body without full absorption. The only issue, however, was that she couldn’t feel the element around her. She never could. But she had a solution for that as well. Sensing the element attuned to them was a warrior’s natural capability. They were born with it. To them, it was the same as seeing or hearing, and it should have been the same for her. The only issue was she couldn’t detect them because of her damaged core. Maybe her senses were so weak because of the fractures, or maybe it was something else. What mattered now was that it came as a sense, and the AI interacted with all her senses. She could feel something, just barely out of her reach. It was calling to her, but she couldn’t seem to grasp it. It was weak, fleeting—like trying to grasp water in her hands. The sensation slipped through her fingers, vanishing as quickly as it came. She gritted her teeth, focusing harder. A dull ache settled in her core, then pain, sharp and twisting. Her muscles tightened, her breath hitched. The AI’s warning flashed. [Energy Flow Instability Detected. Adjusting Circulation.] She followed the AI’s corrections, shifting her posture, regulating her breathing. Thanks to this, the pain eased slightly, and she continued. Minutes passed—five, ten, fifteen. The sensation never grew stronger, but it was there. She just couldn’t get it just yet. [Training Limit Reached. Stop Now.] Her body gave out before she could argue. She staggered, catching herself with one hand against the floor, breathing heavy, limbs trembling. It was like forcing open a door that wasn’t meant to move. She lay there for a moment, her heartbeat loud in her ears. Slowly, she pushed herself upright, still catching her breath. She had done it. Barely. Her voice was steady when she spoke. [Minor Progress Achieved.] [Energy Circulation Efficiency: 3% Increase.] Morena smirked as she saw the number. It wasn’t much, but it was a start. And now she had an idea of how to better scale her growth.
