"OMG!. 7: 30 am. I will be late for work.”
I shudder out bed.
”You!. What are you still doing in my bed?. Get up!. And leave right now!."
I yell with no mercy.
”Dam, Grace!.”
He flinches, wrapping himself with the bedsheet.
This pisses, work starts at 7:30 am and I'm still not ready, yet!.
”James, I'm serious!. You have to leave!. You know how it works!.”
I scowl.
<In the past, we agreed on no sleeping over, especially at my place, no matter the circumstance. And he knows how much I hate when dudes sleepover at my place.>
He feels the bitterness in my voice tone.
This makes him quiver out of bed.
"Ok, ok!. I am leaving your house. No need to get hostile!.”
He picks up his dresses and hurriedly wears them.
He moves closer to me as soon as he gets done.
”Give me a kiss, baby!."
He unexpectedly clenches my waist and yanks me closer to him with a deep kiss.
This completely alternate my mood.
"Haha!. You got to leave!."
I nudge him out, taking steps towards the door with his lips still plugged in mine.
As soon as we got to the door, I unfasten my lips from his, and I thrust him out.
"No, breakfast baby?!."
He cries strutting at my doorstep.
"Sorry, ba...by...!."
I nuts, more of a mockery, and I bang the door at his face.
”Grace...!.”
He yells my name.
This makes me slightly chuckle.
With that, he leaves.
"Finally, he is gone!... Now, work, work, and work!.”
I repeat to myself. Reality hurts.
I rush to the bathroom for a quick bath, then
dress.
After which I hurriedly drive to my work site. I wish I could fly.
”My Boss is going to kill me!.”
20 minutes late,
I ender the building praying not to meet with my boss on my way to my office.
"Grace you are late!."
My Boss welcomes me with this.
We meet in the corridor, with me trying to sneak into my office slightly opposite his.
”Busted”
I cry deep within. I dislike this man.
I take a slow-motion before turning to face him.
"Sorry, sir, it isn't intentional!. Somethings came up!."
I retort with a trembling voice.
He scowls.
"Grace, Another warning!.”
He warns
I bend my stare down to the ground, with a very gloomy look like that of an inoffensive newborn baby.
”I sent some files to your office. Start working on them, right away!."
He adds with a strict tone. And he walks to his office.
"Yes, sir!. I will do just that!."
I quickly enter my office and I start my daily work.
”Heavenly Ghost!.”
I cry aloud.
The files are damn much. ”Are these decades Archives?”.
One of the many reason I hated Monday mornings. Just staring at these files makes me weak. And I feel so sleepy, I didn't sleep well last night.
I'm unable to review these files and we have a meeting. Another reason why I hate Monday mornings. We have a weekly conference every Monday. I'm the one to expose. I'm in charge of the statistics department.
It's something great, especially for a young girl of my age. 26yrs. It's a good job though very exhausting most of the time.
These files give me a headache.
Comfortably seat on my office stool, I place my head on the slap right in front of me, just to relax for a couple of minutes.
This is how I fall asleep without realizing it.
A few minutes later, close to hours.
The office phone rings.
I abruptly quiver out of my sleep, like I'm being followed by some demons. So embarrassing to see.
I hastily pick up the phone call.
"Grace hope you are done with the files. I need the summaries in my office 30 minutes before the meeting starts. That will be all for now!."
My boss freaks me out.
" O...ka...y... sir!."
I pull my wards in shocks, but he already offed the call.
I start working on the files but I'm left with an hour. The meeting is in the afternoon, directly after our break. I'm left with 2 hours before the meeting but my boss needs the files sooner, I think I'm going to grow made.
He phones calls but I don't pick it up. I know what he wants.
He finally barges into my office yelling so loudly that nearly everybody on our floor can overhear.
The bitterness in his voice gets me guilty.
He threatens to fire me if I don't present the files in time.
With that, he leaves back his office!.
I'm terrified, I can't work quicker than this. I try to, but I end up mixing up things and time is passing.
I know my job is gone. I have no superpowers to read all this is in this short period.
My eyes become red, filled with tears of regret.
It's already too late. God knows how I love this job.
”Consequences of my stupid actions!.
I preferred my sex over my job. If not why didn't I sleep very late last night?.”
I blame myself for this.
When I think everything is over, James barges into my office and finds me steaded on the ground, helpless.
James has been around. He heard every the boss said.
"What are you doing!. Get up and work!. Stop wasting time. I will help you do this, after all, it's my fault.”
He gives me a soft smile of comfort.
I'm weak, I can't even smile.
” you should start with those and I do this. Let's be fast about it.”
He sets the timer.
I get relax.
The work goes faster.
He seriously works with any break, not even to stare at each other.
I hurry to my boss' office as soon as we are done. I place all the documents on his table. He gazes at me in shock.
"Great job Grace!. And next time do it at the right time. You are excused this time. Not well, it's the last!."
He insists
A few minutes later,
We all gather for the meeting. I'm so happy. All thanks to James. He was of great help.
The meeting goes on well and everybody seems happy. May I feel this way because I'm the one happy here?. Anyway, I'm really grateful to James.
After the long meeting which lasted for a few hours, we all moved back to our offices and resumed work. Completing our various jobs for the day.
I can say the day ended up well for me.
A few hours ago, I thought that I was going to be fired. Just thinking about it still hurts.
