"Do you know what's funnier than a girl in a boy's outfit?" she inquired.
"What is it?
"A grown man beat with a blade by a girl dressed as a boy."

Scarlett leaned back on her haunches and closed her eyes. She let the cool, misty air cool her hot skin. He sat down next to her and gave her a water skin. She nodded her thanks and took a big gulp. The cool water calmed her insides just like the mist had calmed her skin.
"You fight like a demon, girl. I think you'd beat most men in a fight."
"Except you," she said with a smile, "I haven't beaten you yet."
Henry gave a shrug and replied, "Well, it's hard to deny the truth. I am quite skilled with a steel blade."
She gave an eye roll. "And so humble, too," she laughed. "But it was a good fight. I like training with you because you're more skilled than I am. I'm learning from you. When I can match your skill, I'll know I'm ready."
He laughed, a gleam of amusement in his eyes. "Oh, girl, flattery will get you everywhere. But don't underestimate yourself. You are smart, determined, and have a fire in you that can't be put out. If you keep pushing yourself, one day you'll be better than me. I have no doubts about that."
Henry took a big drink, never taking his eyes off of her until he lowered the skin on his face and pursed his lips.
