Chapter 95: Chapter 92: Piercing the Heart
Wen Xian cast her eyes down, unsure of what to say anymore.
The time to leave had finally come, and she couldn’t hold on even if she wanted to; better to preserve the last of her pride.
Lu Xiao was driving, his slender eyes suddenly turning dark and heavy. His throat moved, gripping the steering wheel tightly.
She didn’t know what he was thinking.
After a long while, he managed to blurt out a few words, “That’s for the best.”
Even though she knew that was his attitude, hearing him say it out loud still made her heart tremble slightly with an indescribable disappointment and bitterness.
She really was a failure, rarely finding a man so interesting, only to be treated so harshly; maybe this was karma for all the men she had rejected before.
The car fell into an eerie silence.
After her words, the atmosphere became inexplicably stagnant.

Lu Xiao got out of the car without responding to her.

“This place is so beautiful, what is it called?”
Lu Xiao, without even a glance at her, pulled out a cigarette, placed it between his lips, leaned down to light it, and took a couple of puffs before saying in a detached tone, “Fairy Lake.”
“Ah? Such a mystical name!”
And indeed, it did fit the scene, with the fog wafting at the end of the lake, adding a truly ethereal touch.
“When do we leave?” Wen Xian looked down at the time and asked him.
