Chapter Twenty Six
[Going On A Break]
“Open up.” Jake shouted hitting the door of his room. No response.
“Jayson, are you there?” Jace asked worriedly.
“I am fine.” He said in a faint voice but they were unable to hear. At long last, after hitting and trying to push, the door went wide open. They all barged in and stopped suddenly. They looked around and saw how shattered everything was.
“Oh, man, what have you done?” Jace said as he went out to bring some sweeping brush.
“Jayson, what happened?” Jasper asked as he took a seat beside him.
“About what that egocentric girl said, don’t tell you are affected by it?” Jasper said.
“You don’t need all of this, for as long as you know that you are not as she described you then you don’t have to be so down.” Jasper said.
“And besides what was written in that paper?” Jeremy asked as he turned towards Jake. Neither Jake nor Jayson could talk. It was disheartening.
“I want to take a walk.” Jake mumbled and exited the room. Jayson watched him leave and sighed when he could no longer to see him.
“You have to calm down.” Jasper said and patted him on his shoulders.

“Shawna, what happened?” Betty asked as soon as she sighted her. Shawna was walking like a person whose heart has been broken into a million pieces. Dejection and pain showed in her features as she kept staggering towards her dorm.
“Shawna.” Betty called out shaking her. Her body was limp due to the entire stress she has been passing through. She looked at Betty and closed her eyes. She sighed.
“I am okay.” She said with her voice breaking.
“You don’t look okay to me.” Betty said and helped her inside.
“I am just weak, you know, stress and reading.. All that is so tiring.” She said and smiled a little.
“Have you eaten yet like did you passed by the café to eat?” Betty aske as she poured water into a glass of cup.
“Not hungry.” Shawna said.
“Not hungry?? The last time I checked you did not eat lunch.” Betty complained.
“But I ate breakfast.” She said. Betty walked closer to her and handed the glass of water to her.
“Thanks.” Shawna said and gulped it down within seconds.
“And where are the rest?” She asked.
“They went in search of you since they did not see you after class.” Betty said.
“We even went to the library and all places we thought we could find you but you were no where to be found.” She said.
“Did I miss anything?” Shawna asked and yawned.
“No, you did not.” Betty replied.
They soon heard the sound of the door opening. They looked up to see Crystal and Tessy.
“Oh my goodness, where have you been since morning?” Tessy asked worriedly as soon as she saw her friend.
“You missed prep today and also an announcement section.” Tessy said.
“Thought you said I did not miss anything?” Shawna asked turning to Betty. Betty shrugged and said, “Not like it mattered anyway.”
“What was the announcement about?” Shawna asked tiredly.
“In a month’s month time, there will be a basketball competition between Scholars high and Shining stars high.” She said and giggled.
“And why the giggle?” Crystal asked.
Shawna smiled. “ Her boyfriend is actually there.”
“Oh.” Betty said.
“Shawna, hope you are good.” Crystal asked calling her.
“Yes, why do you think I am not good?” Shawna asked.
“Nothing actually, you… you don’t.. Forget it.” Crystal said while Shawna looked away.
“Gosh, I am so tired. I have been walking and running around in search of you since.” Tessy said and yawned.
“I am going to take my bath and sleep immediately, Goodnight.” Tessy said lazily and staggered sleepily to her room.
“Will be in my room, Crystal and Shawna if you need anything, I am always available.” Betty said and left for her room.
Crystal kept staring intently at Shawna like she was trying to detect something.
Shawna was about to stand up when Crystal caught hold of her hands. Shawna turned to look at her.
“Why are you weak?” Crystal asked. Shawna snatched her hands away from her and was about to go when Crystal spoke up again.
“Before Betty and Tessy came, you and I have always been friends. Not just friends but close friends. What happened?” Crystal asked.
“You have changed.” She said. Shawna turned towards her and smiled bitterly.
“I have changed? We were close friends?” Shawna asked. Crystal only stared at her.
“I think I should ask you that question.” Shawna said.
“What happened? I thought you have always loved Jake, what happened? You are no longer talking about him or even fantasizing about him?” Shawna asked.
“Because I won't force someone that does not love me to be with me and more so I don’t want to become obsessed.” Crystal said.
“And that is not like you.” Shawna said and smirked.
“The Crystal that has always been my friend will always get whatever she wants.” Shawna said and pointed fingers at her.
“Yes, I get whatever I want but after I got home this last holiday. I was not happy with my position that is why I need to focus on important things.” Crystal said.
“Stupid excuse.” Shawna scoffed.
“These twins are now stealing and taking them away from us and you are doing nothing? Huh?” Shawna asked.
“They are not taking anyone from anybody.” Crystal said matter-of-factly.
“Shawna, you are still a student. Don’t be blinded by this distraction.” Crystal warned.
“I don’t need your stupid advice.” Shawna said and walked out.
Crystal sat down on the chair beside her.
“Have I really given up on him?” She thought. Several thoughts coming into her mind.
“Yes, I have.”
“Definitely.”

“Elsa, don’t you think that was way too harsh?” Ellie asked her sister as soon as they entered their room.
“I don’t care if I was harsh or not, I don’t give a damn about them since I already made it clear to them never to come closer to us.” She said.
“Elsa, what is wrong with you?” Ellie asked.
