"Gabrielle?"
Lucian came to view even as I tried to calm my frantic heart.
I watched his eyes scan around and prayed silently that Anya was already out of view, his intimidating grey eyes returned to me as he completed the distance between us in long strides.
"I've been searching for you around the house, I didn't think you would be here." He muttered.
I forced a faint smile, praying that my features give nothing away of the panic I felt inside, didn't he say he had some work to attend? why was he searching for me only after such a short time?
"You said you'd be busy, so I came here, I really like it here."
At least I didn't have to lie about that, the flowers and the atmosphere reminded me so much of home.
"I knew you appreciate flowers, this place has already been yours for years, waiting for you, and here you are." The corners of his lips lifted lightly, if only he knew how uncomfortable his words made me.
But I found myself wondering about it, if he had this garden cultivated for me, did it mean that he cared a little about my likes?
I studied his hard features for a moment, those cold eyes and harsh lines of his lips were only capable of doing cruel things.
Nothing would ever change the fact that he sees me as his possession, and I was trapped in his cage, it didn't matter how beautiful this prison might be, I was still but a wingless bird.
He was studying me again, I wished I could read what was going on inside his mind.
"Why did you change your mind? You don't hate me anymore?" He suddenly asked, taking me by surprise and I didn't know how to respond.
"Wasn't t..that what you always wanted? For me to be a good and obedient little wife for you? I'm being exactly just that. " I tried as much not to let the bitterness slip through.
His fingers touched my chin, lifting them to his gaze and I held my breath.
"And do you think you are being an obedient wife? hmm?" The corners of his mouth were quirked in a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes, I tried not to tremble under his stare as the panicked kicked in.
What if he knew of my plans to escape?!
My heart quickened rate when his fingers pushed my hair aside to caress the back of my neck.
I was still pinned under his stare as he asked.
"You are still yet to answer my questions, do you still hate me, Brie?"
I was set at ease when I realized that not answering his question was perhaps what he meant, the relief didn't last for long when I was magnetized under his consuming stare.
"I don't h..hate you, Lucian. Not anymore, I already t..told you that I'm willing to accept you." I managed breathlessly when he traced my bottom lip with his thumb. I gave him the answer I knew he wanted to hear, I thought he would be pleased, the forbidding look that passed across his features made my heart thud with confusion as well as fear.
The steely stare was replaced by the slight curve of his lips.
I still couldn't dispel the feeling that something was wrong with him, he almost seemed like a predator who was having fun toying with his prey.
"Always remember wife, that you are MINE!. Nothing can ever change that. Accepting me is your only option because I'm all you will ever get. Tell me you know it! " He whispered darkly even as his fingers dug into my hair. His grip wasn't harsh enough to hurt, but it mirrored the urgency in his words.
"I know it!" I cried out.
His nostrils flared as he inhaled sharply.
"Good girl. Never forget it." He whispered just before he lowered his head to mine.
I whimpered against the force of his lips which parted mine apart.
I was knocked out of breath when he groped my ass, pulling me closer still until I was completely flattened against him. He angle our heads to deepen the kiss.
His hands traveled down the side of my body until he gripped the materials of the dress I was wearing, inching them upwards to my waist.

I blinked against the tears furiously, thankfully it was dark, and from my spot in the shadows, Lucian wouldn't be able to see them.
Without warning, he hauled me to his chest, scooping me bridal style as he marched into the house in long heavy strides.
