Dave's crew continued their journey through Fish-Man Island, exploring its unique beauty and absorbing its rich culture. The streets were alive with activity, colorful coral buildings lining the paths and schools of fish swimming above their heads. The bioluminescent glow of the water created an otherworldly atmosphere, and the crew couldn't help but marvel at their surroundings.
The group eventually found themselves at Coral Plaza, the heart of Fish-Man Island's trade and commerce. Merchants shouted their wares from brightly decorated stalls, selling everything from rare seaweed delicacies to intricate jewelry crafted from pearls and coral. It was a hub of life and energy, with mermaids and Fish-Men mingling in the bustling crowds.
Tony, in his less imposing human form now, walked alongside Enel, who seemed utterly entranced by the underwater kingdom. "This place feels alive," Enel said, his voice tinged with wonder. "I've never seen anything like it."
Tony nodded, scanning the market with an appraising eye. "It's remarkable. The engineering alone—look at how they've harnessed the currents to power their homes. Genius."
Meanwhile, Enel was engrossed in examining a stand selling electric eels, the shopkeeper nervously explaining their properties as the self-proclaimed god mulled over their uses.
Dave, however, was less distracted by the sights and more focused on the people. He noticed how some Fish-Men whispered as they passed, their gazes lingering on him with awe or uncertainty. A few merfolk children pointed at him excitedly, giggling as their parents gently scolded them.
He wasn't here for admiration, though. His mind was already working through the potential alliances Fish-Man Island could offer. With its strategic location as a gateway to the New World and its inhabitants' unique abilities, it was a key piece in the puzzle of his larger plans.
Soon, Jinbe rejoined them, having arranged an audience with King Neptune and his family. The group made their way back to the palace, its massive gates opening to reveal the grand hall they had visited earlier.
This time, the royal family awaited them in full, with Neptune seated on his throne. To his left stood his three sons: Fukaboshi, Ryuboshi, and Manboshi, each radiating a mix of authority and curiosity. Shirahoshi lingered near the back, clearly still gathering the courage to speak.
"Welcome once again," Neptune greeted, his deep voice reverberating through the hall. "I trust your exploration of our island has been enlightening."
Dave inclined his head respectfully. "It has been an honor, Your Majesty. Your people have built something truly extraordinary here."
Neptune smiled, though it didn't quite reach his eyes. "You've stirred quite a response, not just here but across the seas. News of your actions against the Celestial Dragons has reached every corner of the world."
Dave didn't miss the weight in Neptune's words. "And what does Fish-Man Island think of those actions?" he asked, his tone even.
The king's gaze softened. "Many of us have suffered under the Celestial Dragons. To see someone stand against them is... inspiring. But it also places a target on your back—and by association, on anyone who harbors you."
"I understand the risk," Dave said. "But the world can't change without someone challenging the status quo. Fish-Man Island shouldn't have to live in fear of the surface."
Neptune nodded slowly. "You speak with conviction. Perhaps you are the storm this world needs."
From the back, Fukaboshi stepped forward, his expression serious. "What are your intentions here, Dave? Are you seeking an alliance with Fish-Man Island?"
Dave met the prince's gaze without hesitation. "I won't deny that an alliance could be beneficial. But my primary goal here is peace—for now. I've no intention of dragging your people into my battles unless they choose to stand with me."
Fukaboshi studied him for a moment, then nodded. "A fair answer."
Before the conversation could continue, Shirahoshi finally found her voice. "Sir Dave... may I ask you something?"
Dave turned to her, his expression softening. "Of course."
She hesitated, then said, "Do you truly believe the world can change? That there can be peace between humans and Fish-Men?"
Dave's gaze held hers, unwavering. "I do. But it won't happen overnight. Change takes time—and effort from both sides. But I promise you this: as long as I stand, I'll fight for a world where everyone can live without chains."
Shirahoshi's eyes glistened with unshed tears, and she nodded, seemingly reassured by his words.
As the meeting concluded, Jinbe approached Dave as they left the palace. "Your words carry weight," the Fish-Man said. "But you've also drawn attention from powerful enemies. The Marines won't sit idly by after what you've done."
Dave smirked. "Let them come. I've faced worse."
Jinbe shook his head, though a faint smile tugged at his lips. "Your confidence borders on reckless."
As they walked back toward their ship, they passed a group of Fish-Men whispering amongst themselves. One of them, a burly shark-like figure, stepped forward. "You're Dave, aren't you?"
Dave stopped, meeting the Fish-Man's gaze. "I am."
The Fish-Man grinned, baring sharp teeth. "You've got guts, standing up to those bastards. If you ever need fighters, you've got a few right here."
Dave's smirk widened. "I'll keep that in mind."
As the crew returned to their ship, they found themselves watched by an increasing number of Fish-Men and merfolk. Some gazes were wary, others admiring, but one thing was clear: Dave had left an impression.
Back aboard the ship, the crew gathered to discuss their next move. "The New World isn't going to welcome us with open arms," Shakky said, her tone serious. "We need to be ready for anything."
"Well, given our strength, I doubt any one will come to make trouble" Rayleigh shrugged as Shakky glared at him.
Tony nodded, already pulling up schematics on his onboard computer. "I can make some upgrades to the ship. With what I've seen here, I might even integrate some of their technology."
Enel leaned against the mast, arms crossed. "The stronger the storm, the more thrilling the journey. Let's see what the New World has to offer."
Dave stood at the helm, looking out at the underwater expanse. "We have already face the Admirals, defeated them, New World is just Another place to be conquered ."
