Dugu Yan slowly lowered, her feet brushing the ground as the dragon spirit shimmered and coiled behind her like a deity waiting for her command. Her emerald eyes blinked once, glancing at her grandfather—and for the first time, his aura bowed to hers.
The moment her feet touched the ground, the balance shifted.

"Exactly," Dave said. "It’s like comparing a poisonous snake to a divine dragon that chose poison as its domain. One survives by instinct. The other rules by right."
Dugu Bo’s eyes softened as he looked at Dave, and then... he bowed his head deeply.
"I can’t thank you enough for this," he said. "Before, I may have followed you out of helplessness. But now... I submit with sincerity. From this day forward, as long as your orders don’t go against my morals, I will follow you without question."
Beside him, Dugu Yan bowed gracefully as well, her jade-green eyes calm but respectful. "Thank you, Young Master," she said gently.
Dave gave a casual shrug, brushing it off with a faint smirk. "No need to be so formal. You two are now under my protection. It’s only natural."
Dugu Yan raised her head slowly, her voice softer now, but with a teasing glint. "Oh? So what you’re saying is... I belong to you now?"
Dave glanced at her, eyes drifting for a moment over her graceful form. She was beautiful—undeniably so. Strong, confident, and proud.
"If you want to," he replied smoothly. "You can also be my woman. But Meilin’s already my fiancée—so as long as she’s fine with it, I don’t mind making you my second."
He looked toward Meilin, who stood quietly to the side, watching everything unfold with an unreadable smile.
Meilin gave a small, amused nod. "I don’t mind. As long as she understands her place... and doesn’t try to steal the first seat."
Dugu Yan blinked, then laughed lightly. "In that case... I accept. I don’t care about rank—I care about the man. And if that man is you... then I’ll stand by your side."
Dugu Bo simply nodded, eyes calm but filled with quiet gratitude. He didn’t protest. He didn’t question.
If his granddaughter found joy, strength, and purpose with someone like Dave... then as her grandfather, what more could he ask for?
He’d gained not just salvation today—but hope for their family’s future.
"Welcome to the family, Sister Yan," Meilin said with a small smile, stepping forward and offering her hand.
Dugu Yan returned the gesture with a graceful nod. "Thank you for accepting me."
Meilin chuckled softly. "It’s okay. I know I can’t monopolize Dave all to myself."
