As the Dark Elves' invasion was over before it even began, Odin invited Dave and his group to an Asgardian-style celebration.
The grand feast was held in the golden halls of Asgard, lit with floating lanterns and enchanted fire. Music filled the air, and warriors, nobles, and citizens alike danced and drank in celebration. Long tables overflowed with food and mead, laughter echoing through the great hall.
Thor, Frigga, Odin, Dave, and his companions sat together at the high table, looking down at the festivities with relaxed smiles.
The golden glow of the great hall bathed everything in warmth as the celebration roared on. Valkyries clinked mugs with Einherjar, children danced around pillars of light, and musicians played strings of celestial tone. The air was thick with the scent of roasted meat, sweet mead, and magic.
At the high table, Dave leaned back in his ornate chair carved from Asgardian oak, a goblet of shimmering wine in his hand. Thor sat beside him, already halfway through a massive roasted boar leg, laughing heartily between bites.
Frigga sat gracefully, watching the crowd with soft pride, while Odin, though stoic as ever, wore a rare smile as he observed the joy around him. His one eye occasionally turned toward Dave, clearly contemplative.
"You've brought quite the storm with you," Odin finally said, raising his goblet slightly toward Dave. "The Dark Elves' invasion was turned to ash before my spear ever left its stand."
Dave gave a modest shrug, sipping his drink. "Can't take all the credit. Emma and Trish got impatient and wiped the floor with them."
Frigga chuckled softly. "Then I'm glad they were impatient. Asgard owes them thanks... and perhaps new dresses." She looked toward the women seated just below the high dais, smiling at their laughter.
Thor elbowed Dave lightly. "You may have more power than you let on, friend. Or maybe just excellent taste in companions."
Dave smirked. "Both. Probably both."
As the conversation flowed, Emma, Trish, Diana, and Boa chatted with curious Asgardians, who were clearly fascinated by these strange, powerful women. Emma playfully ignited a flame in her palm, drawing gasps and laughter from a nearby group. Boa, of course, basked in the admiration, while Diana maintained her regal calm. Trish challenged a few warriors to a friendly spar — and was already three wins in.
"Tell me," Odin said suddenly, his voice quieter but firm, "what do you plan to do with the Aether now?"
Dave glanced at the red mist-like mass that now rested in a sealed crystal orb beside him, pulsing gently. "I'll purify it. Restore it to its original state as the Reality Stone, if I can. But if not..." He looked Odin in the eye. "I'll make sure no one can ever use it again. Not even me."
Odin studied him for a long moment, then nodded with slow approval. "Wise words. You may not be of Asgard, Dave... but you carry the heart of a king."
Dave smiled slightly at that, raising his glass. "Well... I am working on a throne of my own."
They all laughed, and Frigga leaned closer to whisper, "If you ever get tired of Midgard's chaos... I'm sure Asgard could find room for a few more rulers."
Dave gave her a wink. "I'll keep that in mind."
And so the feast continued — a rare moment of peace, celebration, and light in a universe often clouded with shadows.
The Next Day – Asgard, Morning
The golden skies of Asgard were clear, touched by streaks of soft morning aurora as the city slowly came back to its calm, majestic rhythm. The celebrations of the night before had quieted, though faint traces of music and laughter still echoed in the marble halls.
Near the Bifrost, the group was gathered — Dave, Emma, Trish, Diana, and Boa — each dressed in their usual attire once more, their weapons and belongings secured. Heimdall stood ready at the controls, ever watchful, his great golden eyes shining in the morning light.
Thor approached them, a thick fur cloak slung over his shoulder, Mjolnir resting at his side. Frigga was just behind him, her expression serene and warm, while Odin remained atop the Bifrost stairs, watching silently from afar.
"Heading back already?" Thor asked, a little disappointed. "It's not often Asgard gets such entertaining guests."
Dave nodded with a smile. "Time to go. I've got a stone to purify, a few worlds to keep safe, and I'm pretty sure Trish promised someone a sparring match back home."
Trish stretched, popping her neck. "Still waiting on them to stop dodging me."
Frigga stepped forward and took Dave's hand in hers. "You will always have a place in Asgard, Dave — all of you," she said, her eyes drifting fondly to the others. "Should you ever need sanctuary, guidance, or... just a good feast."
Dave bowed his head respectfully. "Thank you, Frigga. That means more than you know."
Odin finally stepped down, his voice low but commanding. "And remember, the Aether may be contained for now... but forces beyond even my sight are watching. Be vigilant."
Dave gave a curt nod. "Always."
He turned to Heimdall. "Ready when you are."
The all-seeing gatekeeper nodded, stabbing his great sword into the control pedestal. The Bifrost flared to life — a massive beam of rainbow light splitting the air with a cosmic hum, swirling like a living bridge through the realms.
Emma looked back once, a flicker of fire still in her eyes. Boa flicked her hair with a proud huff. Diana offered a small bow to the royal family. Trish winked at a few warriors still bandaged from sparring.
Then, with a flash of light and a rush of energy, they vanished — carried across space and stars, back toward the worlds that needed them.
Back on Earth — At Dave's Home
The warm sunlight filtered through the curtains of Dave's house. The place was quiet, save for the soft hum of electronics and the occasional chirp of birds outside.
Natasha Romanoff — Black Widow — stood in the living room, arms crossed as she looked toward the spot where the Bifrost had opened a day ago. She had been lodging here temporarily, sent by S.H.I.E.L.D. after they detected the Bifrost's signature on Earth. But by the time she arrived, Dave and his companions had already vanished.
She muttered under her breath, "When is he going to return?"
