Tina flinched as soon as the words came out from her mouth. She sounded condescending even though before she graduated, she used to eat a lot in roadside stalls.
But everything was different now. She entered one of the top two enterprises led by the Flying Group and earned tens of thousands monthly salary. She had caught up and even surpassed most white-collar employees in Texas.
It was amazing how money could change a person.
The roadside stall she used to eat into suddenly didn't looked as good as it was in the past.
"Tina, I think this place is nice and lively. We used to eat roadside stalls."
Rachel believed that shopping and eating with her loved ones was the happiest thing to do in the world. It did not matter whether it was a roadside stall or in a fancy restaurant. Besides, there was a lot of delicious foods on roadside stalls.
"Rachel, yes, we used to eat roadside stalls, but now it's different. You and I have both found high-paying jobs. We can't eat into this unhealthy and low-end food stalls anymore." Tina persuaded.
Leon decided to speak up after staying quite for a while. "It's okay to eat on roadside stalls once in a while. It doesn't matter either even if you eat on roadside stalls every day. I don't think eating on roadside stalls can lower someone's status. And I don't agree that people with high status don't feel inferior because of those who eats on roadside stalls. On the contrary, they care more about what they lack."
Tina felt like she was poked by a prick, but the remark was irrefutable.
"Besides, I'm not taking you to a roadside stall tonight. There's a restaurant in the alley ahead where the food is good." Leon said.
He took Rachel's hand and walked to the mentioned restaurant while Tina pouted and followed reluctantly.
They went to a restaurant called 'Home-cooked Dishes' and sat down by the window.
Tina glanced at the decoration of the restaurant and to the other diners around them, then grimaced.
"This kind of house looked like it was decorated back in the 1990s. Is this what you call restaurant?" There was a look of disappointment in Tina's eyes.
"Foods are not meant to be divided by status anyway, and the barbecue made by this restaurant is very delicious." Leon recommended.
But Tina disagreed. "What's so special if it's just the barbecue? You can eat barbecue anywhere, it doesn't matter. Why did we have to travel so far to such a small and noisy place? "
"Tina, be quiet for moment." Rachel frowned at her sister.
"Rachel, I'm telling the truth. I'm not discriminating. It's just barbecue. I can eat it in any restaurant. I really don't know what's so good about this place. They don't even have a private room." Tina couldn't help complaining.
Leon didn't know he would be dealing with this ignorant future sister-in-law of his when he planned to take Rachel out for a dinner. Tina didn't really considered herself as a third wheel since she complained a lot.
Nonetheless, Leon Williams ordered barbecue, the specialty here, as well as several other side dishes.
When the food was served, Tina had no intention of moving the utensils.
"Rachel, the barbecue here is really good. Taste it." Leon said and picked up a piece of barbecue to put it on Rachel's plate.
Rachel's pretty face suddenly flushed at the gesture. A sweet smile appeared at the corners of her mouth. "Okay, you recommended it so it must be good."
Another display of affection from the two made Tina scowl. Then, she saw the happy smile on her sister's face and was stunned.
She admitted that she was a little jealous, but she was more curious. She didn't understand why Rachel was so obsessed with Leon when her sister was good-looking, physically fit and well-paid.
Tina thought Rachel could obviously find a boyfriend who was much better than Leon, but her sister still chose him.
Meanwhile, Rachel tasted the barbecue and her eyes widened in an instant. She turned to Leon with so much love in her eyes as if she ate a spoonful of honey instead of barbecue.
The barbecue was really delicious. Although it was a common home-cooked dish, it was exquisite and delicious.
"Come on, Rachel. How could you be so happy with just a bite of barbecue? You're too easy to satisfy." Tina frowned
"Try it, Tina. It's really delicious." Rachel suggested.
However, Tina did not want to even move the utensils.
She wanted to have a good meal in a western restaurant now that she could spend a little bit more for a western food with her monthly salary.
"Rachel, why don't we go to a western restaurant for steak? It's my treat." Tina said on a whim.
"Tina, let's eat western food later. You really need to try these dishes. Besides barbecue, the fish is also good." It seemed like Rachel had fallen in love with the delicious food there.
She couldn't help admiring the chef in this small restaurant for cooking home-cooked dishes so well.
Additionally, since the food had been served, how could they leave now? They should not be unreasonable.
Rachel was a sensible girl and considered things more comprehensively. The least she needed to do was respect Leon's recommendation.
"Rachel, I admit that we had a hard life for a long time, but we are different now. Don't you think that you can go to a more formal restaurant when you finally have time to come out for dinner?" Tina was very puzzled at her sister's attitude.
This time, Leon responded to her. "If you want a sense of formality then go to a western restaurant by yourself. Leave your sister to me. Stop being an annoying third wheel."

Tina did have two bosses, but she didn't know that. One of her boss was Hugo, but Leon was the big boss behind the scenes.
"You're wrong. Hugo comes here a lot, especially on weekends. Maybe I'll run into him tonight." Leon said.
"Absolutely impossible! Why would Hugo come here? " Tina firmly denied.
"Is that so? Then, who is that?" Leon pointed to the door.
