Chapter 317 My Car Is All Right
Tina thought that maybe he's the one. She doesn't know him yet but he treated her so kindly and gave her so much. Her heart was pounding with so much excitement.
At that moment, Myra and others were already envious of Tina. They couldn't understand what was happening. Why everything was in favor of Tina. They started to wonder who the mystery man could be. Why he was so kind towards Tina although they haven't met each other yet. And Vic, as the assistant manager of the personnel department of Flying Group, was even more appalled to see his boss coming in person.
"Manager, what are you doing here? Is this true?" Vic couldn't believe it.
Usually, the manager talks to him and often loses his temper. He is so arrogant. But at that moment, he was so polite and bowed down to Tina. He found it obscure.
York stared at Vic, still grumpy, and responded, "This has nothing to do with you. Don't interfere with my work! Or else I would have to ask you to clean the toilet tomorrow."
With a rebuke, Vic was speechless and dared not refute it at all.
Everybody else was astounded by York's response to Vic.
Penny was so disappointed. She has boasted many times that her boyfriend was excellent and has a good status in the company. But just now, his boss projected that he's worthless and unimportant.
Penny doesn't know that Vic will receive a termination letter from the company tomorrow.
Tina did not know what happened to him. When she saw how Vic was scolded by his boss, Penny became sad. But Tina on the other hand felt happy about it. "Hi, I'm Tina." Tina introduced herself to York. At that time, York first glanced at Leon Williams as if he had something to say, but didn't proceed.
"Miss Tina, you're going to work as the Assistant Manager in the Finance Department, with a salary of 30,000 dollars, plus a bonus, depending on performance," York said to Tina.
"Please sign this." York pointed where Tina should sign.
People heard all the details and couldn't believe it was actually happening. York offered Tina a good salary and it's something others won't refuse. Penny, Myra, and Ada envied the salary Tina.
Her basic salary alone worth 30,000 dollars, plus the bonus was beyond amazing. For most people, especially fresh graduates, their maximum salary would just be around 10,000 dollars. Now York just offered Tina 30,000. They were in disbelief. Tony felt uncomfortable discussing salaries. But he also knew that as Flying Group's Assistant Manager of the Finance Department, Tina has a brighter future. Her salary would still go up if she gives her best and perform well. Flying Group was known to be a big company. It houses a pool of talented individuals. So Tina's role as Assistant Manager of the Finance Department also plays an important role. If Tina accepts the offer, she'll have the same position as Vic. However, Tina was a fresh graduate yet she was offered a high position already. While Vic on the other hand had to endure five long years before the company was able to notice his good performance. He went through a lot and experienced several pieces of training before finally landing in a high position. Vic figured that the people behind all these unnecessary commotions play an important role in Flying Group. Everything looked suspicious. The idea of sending the Personnel Manager just to hand over the contract in the middle of the night was definitely much of a big deal. Then, Leon Williams suddenly coughed loudly.
He motioned to York, the Personnel Manager to go and leave.
He wanted to avoid Tina from asking for further questions then York might spit all the beans out.
At first, York didn't respond.
"Why don't you go? Come on!" Leon Williams snapped the order.
York's eyes, a little flustered, took the signed contract and hurriedly left the room.
Tina, who didn't understand what was happening, complained to Leon Williams and asked, "What are you doing? What right do you have to drive people out?"
"You don't have to worry about it!" Leon Williams doesn't want to explain too much.
"Is it because someone else has arranged a job for me, you suddenly felt uneasy about it? Well, I can't blame you for acting like that. Your lack of strength, rude attitude, and your boasting make me feel sick!"
Tina's eyes were full of disgust towards Leon Williams.
That day, Tina reacted differently towards Leon Williams. Far different from the sweet and welcoming Tina when Leon Williams just met her a few years back. Now, she seemed like a stranger to him. She has taken into a new form since she graduated.
Leon Williams froze and didn't say anything anymore. He figured that if it wasn't because of his sneaky moves to help Tina, she won't be enjoying this elated feeling. That she won't be offered that kind of job if it wasn't because of him.
Without Leon Williams, Tina was just an ordinary girl. Everything was because of him.
At that time, Leon Williams only meant to help Rachel, not Tina.
Party was over and it was time to say goodbye to everybody.
The dormitory sisters who previously disliked and vilified Tina, as well as their boyfriends, have become extremely courteous to her.
"Tina, why don't you take my car? I have a driver." Tony smiled and offered
"Tina, I just hired a substitute driver. You can consider mine too." Vic smiled also.
"We must go to the Bieber Heavenly King concert in a few days. We should always get in touch with each other." Ada said.
"Ask Tony to get you another ticket. Tina, you have come with us." Myra said.
Tina just smiled. Her heart was filled with a sense of achievement.
Despite all of their kind actions towards her, she knew they were just faking it. Although they don't hate each other, she also knows why all of a sudden, they became so nice to her and treated her so well. They just changed because they envy her and probably, they wanted to know who the mystery man was. So instead of taking their offer, she decided to refuse it politely.
"I'll be there for the Bieber King's concert, but I'll take a taxi home tonight," Tina responded.
Suddenly, Leon Williams interrupted and said, "I'll take you home."
Leon Williams promised Rachel that he would take good care of her sister. And besides, it was already late when they ended the party. It wasn't safe to let her go all by herself.
"No, I'll take a taxi." Tina shook her head.
"Your sister specifically called me to protect you, and I promised to do so." Leon Williams recalled.
"Oh, that sounds ridiculous." Tina still can't let go of his anger towards Leon Williams. She remembered that he promised her that he would arrange a job for her but failed to do so. At the moment, Myra, Tony, and Penny all cast contemptuous and disdainful eyes at Leon Williams.
"Well, it's obvious that Tina's angry at you. So don't insist. She doesn't even recognize you as her brother-in-law. So don't push it." One of them retorted.
"Why insist on bringing her home? Do you have a car?" The other said sarcastically.
"
"I don't know how you two could get along with each other. You don't even have a car. It's a shame!" Another one insulted Leon Williams.
Leon Williams couldn't hide his upset reaction towards them. He was angry he wanted to shout at them.
"Who says I don't have a car? I do!" Leon Williams responded.
After hearing that, Tina raised her eyebrow slightly and said to mumbled, "Yes, it's not uncommon to own a private car now. It's just a matter of grade."
"Alright then, I'll let you take me," Tina added.
Considering that, Leon Williams was more reliable than those dorm sisters. After all, he is still her cousin's boyfriend.
Myra reconciled and offered, "Tina, my husband has s new big ben. You might want to try it. It suits you well."
Just then, Leon Williams shook his car keys.
"My car is ok." He insisted.
Under the light of the streetlamp, the Bentley was a head-turner.
