Super Invincible Battleship Chapter 240

Chapter 240: Chapter 136: Found the Target The drone flew slowly through the mountain range, and even though it was deep into the night, it never once let its guard down. Utilizing the mountains and terrain to conceal its presence, it carefully tracked the envoy of the Assassin Sect ahead. The envoy was exceedingly cunning; after escaping the valley, he first cautiously fled to the south, then turned east, and continued heading south again. Yan Fei, sitting inside the drone, monitored the Assassin Sect envoy’s erratic movements and found no discernible pattern, noting that the route seemed to diverge further from the correct location he had previously deduced. Despite sensing something was amiss, Yan Fei did not interfere with the envoy’s movements. Sure enough, after several changes in direction, the envoy shifted his course from west to northeast, heading straight for the area Yan Fei had suspected earlier. This time his path was a direct line, no longer meandering. After all the circling, more than four hours had passed and the sky was beginning to lighten. The drone, equipped with powerful quantum radar, was not worried about losing track of a single individual, so it hung back behind the envoy without arousing suspicion. Even so, the envoy remained extremely cautious, making several more loops before returning to the main path. As the envoy pressed on, Yan Fei confirmed that his destination was indeed the region suspected to be the headquarters of the Assassin Sect. The envoy moved swiftly among the steep mountains, occasionally hiding his figure and vocalizing false signals to throw off any potential followers, exhibiting great caution. However, with the quantum radar’s scanning, these maneuvers were quite comical. In the end, the Assassin Sect envoy arrived at the base of a towering mountain and entered a cave, never to reappear. The drone stealthily approached the area and used its quantum radar to scan the terrain, discovering many caves of varying sizes under the mountain, each with traces of human activity. Since the quantum radar could not penetrate thick rocks, it was unable to see deep into the caves. That meant Yan Fei suddenly lost the trail of the Assassin Sect envoy. However, far from being disappointed, Yan Fei was actually excited. The drone hovered at a considerable distance from the cave, peering through the gap between two large rocks. Since entering the cave, the envoy had not been seen again. With the quantum radar in full surveillance mode, no personnel movement was detected within a fifty-kilometer radius, suggesting that the headquarters of the Assassin Sect might indeed be located within that cave. Despite various setbacks, Yan Fei had finally found his objective. The mountain over the cave was majestic, yet, curiously, its summit was not covered in snow. Could this be the Daxue Mountain famed by the Assassin Sect, albeit somewhat different from what was expected? By now, the sky was fully bright, and under the drone’s diligent watch, the Assassin Sect envoy was no longer seen. To avoid misjudgment, the drone periodically activated its quantum radar for broad-range scans to confirm that the envoy had not left the mountain. However, enhancing the quantum radar’s scanning power quickly drained the drone’s energy points. Coupled with the previous evening’s long flights and combat use, the drone energy points had dropped below ten thousand. Despite this consumption of energy points, Yan Fei was virtually certain that this was the headquarters of the Assassin Sect, making the power expenditure worthwhile. Finding the headquarters meant Yan Fei was no longer in a rush. With the drone’s energy points low and its weapons depleted from the previous night’s combat, its combat power was significantly reduced, leaving Yan Fei no choice but to wait for the drone to recover to its peak fighting capacity. Yan Fei decided to wait silently for his opportunity. If the Assassin Sect’s headquarters were indeed inside the cave, then the Drone Avatar would be of little use for the moment. After all, even though the drone was impressive, it could not enter the cave. Ultimately, it would still rely on Yan Fei himself to penetrate the cave and eliminate the enemies within. If it had been before, Yan Fei would have had reservations about entering the cave himself, since he knew nothing of its interior. If a super expert, combined with a group attack, was inside, he could be in grave danger despite his weapons from the Universal Space. Yan Fei desired revenge but was not foolish enough to throw his life away. A failed vengeance that left him trapped inside would have been a loss not worth taking. However, after acquiring the deadly nerve agent “Novichok,” Yan Fei had a new battle plan. Once confirming the cave as the Assassin Sect headquarters, he would infiltrate and locate the ventilation shafts, then release the poisonous gas inside, killing everyone within. This way, there would be no need for a death match with the enemy, and with his current skills, escaping would not be too difficult. Under the assault of the poison gas, those in the confined cave would be helplessly killed. And for those few who might escape, the moment they showed their faces outside the cave, the drone hovering in the sky would fire full throttle, annihilating them all. Even if there were a super expert inside, once they left the cave, they would not escape the drone’s attacks. With “Novichok” at his disposal, Yan Fei was confident in wiping out the opposition. If this was not the headquarters of the Assassin Sect, then the envoy would eventually leave. By following him, Yan Fei could still locate the main base. Having sorted out domestic affairs before leaving China, Yan Fei had ample time to wear down the opposition. Yan Fei had finalized his next battle plan and calmed his mind. What he needed to do now was to determine the true nature of this cave and see if it was really the headquarters of the Assassin Sect, while waiting for a drone data refresh. The drone’s attack in the valley had been fierce, but it had consumed a massive amount of the drone’s weapon ammunition. The drone now had only one-sixth of its previous ammunition, and combined with the lack of Energy Points, its remaining combat power wasn’t much. Since Yan Fei had followed the envoy of the Assassin Sect to this place, he was no longer in a hurry. As long as he played his moves carefully, he would naturally be able to exterminate the entire Assassin organization. Thus, Yan Fei hid within a cliff five kilometers away from the cave and continued to observe the situation near the cave. He had previously used Quantum Radar to survey the terrain, but the Quantum Radar couldn’t provide real-time images, so Yan Fei, although he had the terrain map of the area by nightfall, couldn’t see the specifics outside of the mountain. After daylight, the drone collected images from around the area, instantly reconstructing the actual terrain map. At the base of that large mountain, there were many caves of varying sizes. Not just on this mountain, the bases of several nearby mountains also had caves, though not as many as the ones in this large mountain. The larger caves in the big mountain appeared to be around four to five meters high and five to six meters wide, large enough for vehicles to pass through. The smaller caves were just tens of centimeters high, where humans could only crawl forward. The cave that the envoy had just entered was about one meter in diameter. Outside these caves, there was a highway leading to the outside world. The area was littered with yellow sand, devoid of vegetation, making the highway inconspicuous, almost unrecognizable as a highway. With the wind blowing, the sand would move and immediately cover up any tracks of vehicles, making it look like nothing more than a stretch of beach — impossible to tell a highway ran through there. However, during the daytime, one could still vaguely make out the semblance of a road beneath from the sky. One could only wonder if there had been any recent traffic on the highway, or if it was an abandoned road. Due to the constant shifting sands driven by the strong winds, it was impossible to see any traces of vehicle movement from above, which is why Yan Fei hadn’t discovered the road with his Quantum Radar before. Yan Fei used the drone to monitor the highway and the caves at the base of the mountain, occasionally using Quantum Radar to check if anyone was leaving the area. However, everything seemed calm and uneventful. Just like that, a day quickly passed, the sun went down, and darkness enveloped the surroundings once again. The drone continued hiding between two huge rocks, monitoring the road below and the distant caves. With the Autonomous Monitoring system of the Auxiliary Brain, Yan Fei didn’t need to pay constant attention, so he even had time to sleep in the cockpit, nourish himself with food prepared from the Universal Space, and ready himself for the upcoming battle. What frustrated Yan Fei was that, under the watch of the Auxiliary Brain, there had been no sign of anyone entering or leaving the cave, nor had any animals been detected. If it weren’t for the sighting of the Assassin Sect’s envoy entering the cave the previous night, Yan Fei might even doubt whether anyone was there at all. With such a harsh environment, how could it possibly be the headquarters of a major organization? It wasn’t until after ten o’clock local time that Yan Fei hadn’t detected any activity in the area. Just as his patience was running out and he was about to take the risk of entering the cave to explore, a roaring sound of a vehicle suddenly came from the highway outside. Shortly after, an old-fashioned cargo truck covered with tarpaulin drove along the highway. When it reached right below the drone’s hiding spot among the giant rocks, there was a loud “bang,” and the truck began to brake, then came to a halt. A tire on the old truck had accidentally run over a sharp stone hidden in the yellow sand, causing a blowout. The truck stopped, and the driver got out to inspect. Upon discovering the flat tire, he slapped the back of the truck and began to replace the wheel. The canvas on the back of the truck was then torn open, and a group of people jumped out of the truck, beginning to stretch and move about on the ground, waiting for the repair to be completed. Yan Fei’s vision was now extraordinary, and even in the dark, he could see the people from the vehicle below. They were all Arabs with covered faces and carried AK47 automatic rifles, clearly armed militants in disguise. Among these Arabs were two Chinese individuals, but they were being supported down from the truck by the armed militants, and their eyes were blindfolded, obviously to prevent them from seeing their surroundings. ———————————————————————— Thanks to book friends: “休闲是生活” and “相信神” for their rewards!
