After taking down two drones, Yan Fei once again hoisted Wen Rou onto his back and quickly ran towards the north. He had initially planned to climb up the cliff and deal with the snipers who had ambushed him, but he was with Wen Rou. He didn’t want Wen Rou to witness such a bloody scene and also didn’t want her to fall into danger again, so he decisively chose to withdraw, intending to seek revenge later.
The valley floor was steep and the path rugged, but with Wen Rou on his back, Yan Fei moved as if walking on flat ground, demonstrating his formidable strength. Wen Rou’s face flushed as she thought about Yan Fei’s heroic survival after falling off the cliff, his fierce takedown of the drones, and felt the potent force of his rapid running. She felt incredibly safe with him, as if Yan Fei could protect her for a lifetime. Without thinking, she blurted out, “Little Fei, I love you. I want to be with you forever!”
Yan Fei’s body shook, and he immediately stopped in his tracks and turned around to look at Wen Rou, saying with surprise, “Little Rou, did you just say you love me and want to be with me forever? This is definitely not my imagination…”
Having spoken her heart, Wen Rou’s face turned even redder with shyness. Despite Yan Fei pressing her for an answer, she mustered the courage to say, “Little Fei, I love you!”
Overjoyed, Yan Fei carried Wen Rou around wildly, shouting, “Little Rou, I love you too. I will love you for my entire life! I too, want to be with you forever.”
Yan Fei’s vow of love for Wen Rou echoed throughout the valley, the recurring sounds of “together, together, together…” signifying his declaration to the world.
Wen Rou affectionately watched Yan Fei and wiped the sweat off his forehead that had formed from his wild running, whispering softly, “You fool, you’re such a fool…”
Knowing Wen Rou’s feelings and brimming with joy, Yan Fei said, “I am a fool, but I’m your fool alone, and I will listen only to you for this lifetime.”
The young couple had expressed their feelings for each other and felt indescribably happy and sweet, even in the wilderness. Just as they were being affectionate, Wen Rou’s phone suddenly rang. They had been at the bottom of the valley without signal, but as Yan Fei ran in joyous frenzy with Wen Rou on his back, they reached a hillside where they picked up a telecom signal, and Wen Rou’s phone rang inappropriately.
Wen Rou just wanted to be alone with Yan Fei and didn’t want any contact with the outside world. She initially didn’t want to answer the call, but after Yan Fei’s persuading, she reluctantly picked up and started conversing in English. After a few sentences, her face showed an excited expression.
Then Wen Rou spoke a few more words and hung up the phone. Looking at Yan Fei, she said, “Little Fei, I’m sorry, but I have to leave this place. My foster parents just told me they might have found information about my birth parents, and I need to go back immediately to confirm it.”
Yan Fei felt a sense of regret. He had just exchanged heartfelt confessions with Wen Rou and was looking forward to developing their relationship together, but now they had to part ways. However, since it related to Wen Rou’s origins, Yan Fei couldn’t object. He graciously expressed his hope that Wen Rou would find her birth parents.
Facing the prospect of separation, they both felt a touch of sadness. But Yan Fei still managed to suppress his sorrow, cheering Wen Rou up again. Then he once again carried her on his back and, making sure of their direction, quickly ran north. An hour later, Yan Fei finally made it out of the primitive forest and onto a highway beside the forest.
They waited by the highway and after half an hour, they flagged down a passing mini-bus. The two bought tickets and boarded. They were now very far from the border and close to Xishuangbanna city. The foreign assassin organization didn’t dare to venture this deep, so they were safe now.
Indeed, the rest of their journey was smooth. Yan Fei and Wen Rou returned to Xishuangbanna city without incident. Once back at the hotel they had checked into before, Yan Fei headed to a pharmacy to buy some gauze and medicine for dressing wounds, then returned to the hotel where Wen Rou bandaged her right foot by herself. After cleaning the wound, Wen Rou saw that it was as she thought, not very serious. With proper bandaging, a few days of rest would see it healed. Seeing that Wen Rou’s wound was not serious, Yan Fei finally let out a sigh of relief.
That evening, Yan Fei and Wen Rou started to feel reluctant about parting. However, Wen Rou’s search for her birth parents was very important, and Yan Fei couldn’t stand in her way, so they had to part with heavy hearts.
So, Yan Fei took Wen Rou to Xishuangbanna Airport, where she took a flight to Yangcheng, and from there, she would transfer to an international flight to the United States. During the check-in at the airport, Wen Rou’s injury raised questions from the inspectors, but she explained it as an accident during travelling, avoiding their suspicion.
Yan Fei sent off Wen Rou reluctantly, feeling dejected. Wen Rou had left in such a hurry, and there were so many questions Yan Fei wanted to ask her, such as how she knew he was dreaming or why she entered his Infinite Loop Space while dreaming? These were puzzles that had long troubled him. But before he could ask his questions, Wen Rou left for The United States of America.
Yan Fei stayed in Banna City without much to do for a day. The next day, he bought a plane ticket from Xishuangbanna Airport and flew back to Shanghai. Perhaps missing Wen Rou greatly, Yan Fei did not dream at all on the night she left; he slept soundly until morning. Upon waking, he no longer felt troubled by that recurring forgotten dream.
Having confirmed his relationship with Wen Rou, Yan Fei should have been very happy. However, as Wen Rou left and he returned alone to Shanghai, the thought of meeting up with Lu Pingping made him calm down all of a sudden, and he felt a strange sensation in his heart.
