Chapter 183: Chapter 114: Cliff Murder Trap
Since Yan Fei learned about the bounty task on the dark web and that his location coordinates were marked on it, he knew this Dai Ethnic Village was extremely dangerous. Assassins lured by the one hundred million US dollar bounty would crazily flood into this small village near China’s border, naively hoping to kill him and become overnight millionaires.
Not far from here was the national border, guarded by border defense soldiers; the border would pose some obstacles for the assassins and their weapons. However, this would only filter out some of the smaller assassin organizations with lesser strength; those powerful organizations still had the capability to bring heavy weapons across.
If Yan Fei were alone, he wouldn’t fear these assassination attempts and would even turn the tables on all of them. But with Wen Rou by his side, who, although possessing the magical ability of “Dream Invasion,” was powerless in reality, they were in danger. Firearms could injure or even kill Wen Rou if she were hit. Riding the motorcycle on the mountain highway at high speed, Yan Fei felt the warmth of Wen Rou’s hands around him and a comforting feeling surprisingly emerged in his heart. If it weren’t for the great danger surrounding them, he might have even wanted to keep driving on with Wen Rou forever.

Just as Yan Fei’s motorcycle was speeding through the mountains, a local truck began to chase from behind. The speeding truck kicked up a cloud of dust, like a yellow dragon in close pursuit of Yan Fei. Upon noticing the truck, Yan Fei immediately slowed down to let it pass, but the truck also reduced speed and didn’t overtake, which heightened Yan Fei’s alert.
After Yan Fei’s motorcycle rounded a sharp turn on the mountain path, he saw a truck blocking the highway ahead. The truck spanned the width of the road, making it impassable even for his motorcycle. Just then, the persistently following truck suddenly accelerated towards the motorcycle.
Yan Fei instantly realized that the two trucks were targeting him; he was trapped on this narrow stretch of road. Unable to advance and needing to fend off the oncoming truck’s crushing assault, the situation became perilously dangerous. Wen Rou, seated behind him on the motorcycle, realized something was wrong. Her complexion paled, but she kept silent, holding Yan Fei even tighter.
Yan Fei rapidly assessed the terrain, realizing movement was blocked in every direction. To his right was a steep mountain face, unclimbable during an enemy attack; to his left, an abyssal cliff offered no realm of escape. Surrounded with no way out, Yan Fei and Wen Rou suddenly found themselves in a deathtrap.
The truck behind was barreling towards the motorcycle, and Yan Fei could see the vicious smile on the truck driver’s face. He turned back, suddenly embraced Wen Rou, and quickly jumped off the motorcycle. They heard a loud “boom” as the following truck smashed into the motorcycle, sending it flying high and crashing it into the sideways truck ahead, utterly shattering it.
Yan Fei, carrying Wen Rou, exerted his strength, preparing to leap over the obstructing truck when several masked gunmen suddenly rose from inside the horizontal truck. The automatic rifles in their hands aimed at Yan Fei and Wen Rou, ready to fire. Startled, Yan Fei quickly stepped back, only to find several more masked gunmen emerging from the truck behind, their rifles also aimed at him and Wen Rou.
Yan Fei regretted bringing Wen Rou to such a hazardous place. Had he been alone, he would have directly engaged the enemy. With his strength, he could have easily wiped out the opposition, and even if he got hurt, it wouldn’t be too severe. But now, with Wen Rou, a single gunshot could injure or even kill her. If Wen Rou got hurt in the crossfire, he would never forgive himself.
In a split second, Yan Fei chose not to retaliate with steel ball bullets but instead made a move nobody expected. He quickly put Wen Rou on his back, held her with one arm, and turned, jumping towards the deep cliff on the left. Just as he leaped, the gunmen on both trucks opened fire. But they lost their target, and the bullets created dozens of large holes where Yan Fei had just stood.
Yan Fei, with Wen Rou on his back, plunged down the cliff; after falling for a while, he spotted a hanging vine off in the distance. Holding tight to Wen Rou, he somersaulted through the air, reaching for the vine in the final moments and grabbing it with his free hand. However, the vine was too weak and brittle to hold their weight and rapid descent; a “snap” echoed as it broke, and Yan Fei, unable to grab anything to slow the fall, descended again with Wen Rou on his back.
