Peter Brown didn’t think much about Edward Martin’s affairs. He came to the provincial capital to attend college to fulfill his dream.
Standing at the entrance, looking at the huge sign, and watching the students entering this Portal with laughter and joy, Peter felt a little dazed.
He could finally go to college!

John Anderson glanced at Peter Brown, nodded slightly, and his parents also paused their gaze on Peter. Then, his father asked with a puzzled tone, "You should be older than our son, right?"
"Yes, I am twenty this year," Peter replied without concealment.

William Lee’s mother then said, "You look like you’re from a rural area, right?"
"Yes, I’m from the countryside."
William Lee’s mother nodded and said, "Children from rural areas are used to hardship and it’s not easy for them to get into college. Since you’re from the countryside, you’re used to hard work. Take care of more dormitory affairs later."
Peter Brown frowned slightly.
William Lee was not happy and said, "Mom, what are you saying?!"
Neke Armstrong was a helpful person and quickly changed the subject, saying to Peter, "The school doesn’t allow you to bring your own bedding or anything like that. You have to buy it. There’s a special place to buy it. Shall I take you there?"

When Peter arrived at the place in the school that specializes in selling bedding, he saw many people buying things there.

The laughter of Warner Richards, the director of the Provincial Education Department, came from the other side of the phone. "Is this Peter Brown? How did it go? Did you register today?"

Soon, another phone call came in, asking for Peter’s location. Afterward, the caller asked Peter to come to the principal’s office.
As Peter walked into the principal’s office, an old man with white hair greeted him with a smile, "You see how bad my memory is. I almost forgot after getting busy with other things. Jason had already given me a heads up, so did Director Warner."
Although he said this, Peter still saw a kind of scrutiny and even contempt hidden in his eyes.
Peter realized from the situation that the old principal wasn’t pleased with someone pulling strings for him and didn’t like people who got in through the back doors like himself.

"Impossible, how could there be a problem with my bed?" Dr. Richardson frowned.
"The bed you sleep in should be facing east, with the position of your pillow also to the east, right?"
Dr. Richardson looked at Peter in amazement, unable to understand how his bed could be related to his insomnia and dreaming.
