Steampunk Era: Mad Abield Chapter 25

The cover over the restaurant's entrance was pulled back, and a bald, muscular man surveyed the silent waiting room. At first he was curious, then suddenly thought of something, lifted his head to glance under the door, and after confirming the presence of a particular idiotic tuft of hair on a certain humanoid monster, he opened the door with a smile, "I was wondering why it's so quiet today, you little rascal are here." "Yes, we're all hungry," Malin nodded, followed by Maya and Faye—as the number one fighter, escorting two girls, nobody dared to object. Indeed, those who dared to speak up had been frightened off, and those who dared to reason... Malin had not beaten them, letting Maya sell some cuteness was enough to solve everything. It seemed that even the Church mentors pretended not to see it all—they were very strict in educating the children in other places, but when it came to eating, they taught the children in a 'pastoral' way—that the weak represented not even being able to eat their fill. There was an orderly queue, an orderly meal, without the usual scuffles over a queuing position among the young ones, the bald, muscular man, the person in charge of the Church restaurant, Uncle Korgan, specifically gave Malin an extra piece of roast meat. "If you came here to eat every day, I wouldn't have to throw those kids who disrupt the dining environment outside," the muscular man said, giving Maya an extra fish while he sighed as Malin handed over his meal card for the cashier to manually record the meal expenses. "But here, having the biggest fist is always the hard truth," Malin lifted his head to speak to the bulk of a man. "Ah, those damned rules," the muscular uncle exhaled wearily, then added a plate of desserts for Faye. Malin used his own meal card to pay for meals for both girls, then led them towards a table for three not far away. A senior student approached the bald, muscular man with a somewhat ingratiating smile. Holding a spoon, the bald head sized up the guy with a glance, his red lips barely parting: "Scram!" Malin noticed a big guy had taken their seat prematurely and frowned, leading the two girls towards another table for three. Then another big guy walked over and sat down first. Malin went silent for a moment, put his tray aside on a long table, and turned around: "Which class are they from." At the same time, he caught a fist that was swung at him. "Fourth grade! Transfer students!" a high-grade student, his face still swollen, answered indignantly. His puffed-up, bruised face was almost comically like a young Historian beaten ruthlessly for having a conscience. "Transfer students, it seems that you've already understood the rules of the cafeteria at Carterburg Academy, haven't you." He turned back to the big guy whose fist was tightly grasped by a small hand: "First time, just a warning." "Cut the crap! We brothers are not like those losers!" The other bulky fellow directly picked up a chair. Malin ducked under the chair while Maya had already pulled Faye back, so, without any worries, Malin pushed the big fellow he was holding onto the ground, then the punch he retracted lightly 'bumped' into the empty-stomach of the swinging bulk. Really, it was very light, because the kid screamed and fell to the ground rather than being hit by Malin so hard that something broke and he passed out. This was the request from the Apprentice mentors to a strong Half-blood like Malin—no matter what, don't take a life. In this world, as long as no life was taken, even the most serious injuries could be healed, and regenerating limbs was not a problem. Three peers burst out of the line, and Malin scooped up a chair with both hands, breaking off a chair leg with one hand. His left hand's hollow iron rod deflected a long leg that was kicked his way, and he smoothly dodged another person's flying tackle. The iron rod in his right hand jabbed into the third person's calf, resulting in a crisp bone fracture, the intense stimulus making the fellow scream and fall to the ground. The iron rod in his right hand once again deflected the large hand that was grabbing at him, while the left hand's iron rod struck the head of a big guy who had just gotten up, knocking him back to the ground—the blow hit right on the alveolar ridge. Although the spell for regenerating teeth would bring about extremely severe pain, at the very least he was still alive, wasn't he. As his left hand swung to the end, the iron rod flew out of his grasp, hitting the big guy who had just managed to extricate himself from the chairs and tables. He stumbled toward the two girls, wanting to take them hostage to command Malin, but ended up being flipped over in front of Maya and Faye. The two girls kicked out reflexively, hitting him right in the crotch, and the big guy immediately passed out, clearly not waking up any time soon. Somewhat satisfied, Malin clenched his fist and punched the big guy who was attacking him again in the face. Blood flew with his front teeth, moans mixed with fresh blood, and Malin tossed away the iron rod in his right hand, picking up a plank from the long table, "Colin! Have your men come out and clean up!" The entire line fell silent, everyone with their heads bowed, but Malin believed that quite a few among these guys were actually enjoying themselves. The stronger dragon couldn't suppress the local snake, such a delightful drama indeed. At this time, Domestic Fairies emerged from the kitchen, carrying spare tables and chairs. They replaced the damaged ones and then a few of them dragged those unlucky sods out of the dining hall, while others followed with mops to clean up. Colin had arranged for the anatomy class instructor and after having dinner at the Church's staff dining hall, he and Margaret were heading to the Apprentice dining hall to visit her sister when they happened to see those five transfer students hung up at the dining hall entrance. Colin immediately sensed trouble—these five little bastards had been transferred from the Central Administrative Province's Church Apprentice class for being too excessive, and since their families had connections, the local Church couldn't handle them and had to transfer them to Carterburg, hoping that being away from the Central Administrative Province would grind off some of their edge. "Was it Malin who did this?" Colin asked the Domestic Fairy who was cleaning mops at the entrance. The Domestic Fairy looked up, its owner of pure black pupils nodded its head, "Yes." Still able to yell, they're okay," said Margaret with an air of indifference—as a member of the highest power family in the kingdom, in her eyes, the parents of these little bastards weren't even qualified to speak directly to her. So the two of them walked into the dining hall, just in time to see Malin dominating the room. "Was your work this morning particularly draining?" Margaret glanced at Colin, "Every time I see Malin eating, I get the feeling that you must not have had enough to eat just before." I'm not a Frost Giant Half-blood," Colin watched the kid devour a piece of roasted meat and felt despair—feeding a child would surely bankrupt him. Ah, Colin, did you get the matter sorted?" Malin turned his attention to the two who stood out in the dining hall. "Got it sorted out; this afternoon is your private class. Old Ferrero will lead it, he's going to teach you the dissection and material collection of Spirits and different kinds," Colin said. Then he noticed the look in the kid's eyes... that burning passion, as if he were looking at a table full of roasted meat after being starved for half a day, full of joy and satisfaction.
