A flash of sword light split the air. Delta, known as the Death God's Eye, was instantly decapitated. Li Xiaofei froze for a moment.
Good grief... That was fast. Isn’t this Delta supposed to be a legion commander among the Reaper faction? A powerhouse of at least the Seven Transformation Realm?

Li Xiaofei stared at the lizard-like head rolling across the ground, speechless.

He turned to Wei Xiaotian and said, “Now that no one is standing in the way, you can hand over Sikong Xue and her daughter to me, right?”
Wei Xiaotian smiled faintly and replied, “The battle isn’t over yet.”
Li Xiaofei was momentarily taken aback. Then, without warning, a surge of wild and terrifying energy pulsed from behind him. To his astonishment, the supposedly decapitated Delta slowly rose to his feet once more. His bloodstained hands swept across the space before him and a long-handled battle axe materialized in his grip.
“Kill.” The cold voice came from the severed head lying nearby.
The headless corpse cleaved the void with its axe and swung it down toward Li Xiaofei. Li Xiaofei was genuinely surprised.
Even this wasn’t enough to kill him?
The axe blade and sword edge collided, sending out a burst of sparks. Li Xiaofei felt the overwhelming force crash down on him like a collapsing mountain range. If he had been in his normal state, there was no way he could have withstood that axe strike.

“This time, he’s really dead... right?” muttered Li Xiaofei as he stood with sword in hand, his eyes fixed on the lizard head still floating in midair.
Twin beams of blood-red light shot out from the eyes beneath the floating lizard head. The stench of death instantly filled the air. Li Xiaofei's heart trembled as he instinctively raised his sword to defend.
The terrifying force knocked him back three steps.
“This power...” Li Xiaofei was slightly shaken.
This must be the racial divine ability of the Wisdom Reapers. According to the data he had seen, Reapers were supposedly incapable of cultivating martial arts, but they possessed one or two innate divine abilities. They had extremely aggressive techniques that scaled with their life level. As they evolved, these abilities grew exponentially more lethal.
“I’ll chop your damn head off again.”
Li Xiaofei swung his sword once more without giving the lizard head any time to unleash another spell.
The sword light flashed and the head exploded into a mist of blood.
Li Xiaofei sheathed his sword and turned to Wei Xiaotian. The latter only spoke lightly, “This is just the beginning.”
Li Xiaofei frowned. A moment later, he felt it again, another strange and violent surge of energy forming behind him in the void, rapidly escalating in intensity.
Then, Delta’s voice echoed from the air itself, “Is this the junior you fear so much?”
The mist of blood hung faintly in the air as a new body began to take form. Unlike the previous humanoid figure, this time Delta’s form leaned heavily toward his reptilian nature, he now appeared as a massive, upright lizard.
A thick, muscular tail swayed gently behind him. It was tipped by a bone-like sphere the size of a football, covered in jagged, sharp ridges that shimmered with a dull metallic hue.
Death God’s Eye, Second Form.
His enormous frame landed on the ground with a thunderous crash. An overwhelming aura of power radiated from him, pressing down on everything nearby.
Delta turned toward Wei Xiaotian and sneered, “This human... is he the one you want as your successor? He doesn’t seem very fond of you. Why don’t I save you the trouble and crush him for you?”
“Go ahead.” Wei Xiaotian shrugged, utterly indifferent. “But let me remind you, your time is limited. If you want to take someone and leave, you’d better act quickly. Once the war ends, or when the elites from the Xiao Kuang Legion arrive, you’re going to be in serious trouble.”
“I don’t need your reminder.” Delta let out a cold laugh and struck without hesitation.
After undergoing his half-beast transformation, his speed, strength, and energy had skyrocketed. He was a blur of radiant light as he sprang forward. In the blink of an eye, he was already in front of Li Xiaofei.
A razor-sharp reptilian claw slashed forward. His speed now approached the peak of the Seven Transformation Realm, perhaps even on the verge of breaking through. Li Xiaofei couldn’t possibly react to a strike of that level. But the Blood-Drinking Sword could.
Golden light burst forth. The blade of the sword intercepted the claw, stopping it in its tracks.

A deafening shockwave thundered through the air as Li Xiaofei’s body was sent hurtling through the air. But he wasn’t the only one thrown back, as a severed arm flew back with him.
Delta was stunned. Even after undergoing half-beast transformation, with his strength skyrocketing and his bone-armored hide offering immense defense, his arm had still been sliced off by a single slash?

“It’s mine now,” Delta said excitedly as his severed arm regenerated instantly. Then he struck again. The battle had clearly reached the Seventh Transformation level and beyond.
Li Xiaofei marveled at the monstrous might of this Reaper commander. But instead of straining to control the fight, he let go completely. He relinquished control of the Blood-Drinking Sword and allowed it to lead the battle on its own.
A rapid flurry of metallic clashes echoed through the air. Their bodies blurred and flickered like flashes of flowing light. This time, the battle dragged on for a full three minutes. And after those three minutes passed...
Chunks of flesh and shattered bones rained down from the sky. Delta had ultimately been no match for the Blood-Drinking Sword. His body was reduced to mangled pieces. All his blood and energy were absorbed into the sword. His half-beast, lizard-like form disintegrated into powder and scattered.
Li Xiaofei stood still, sword in hand. The intense battle had consumed a vast amount of the Blood-Drinking Sword’s energy. But absorbing Delta’s flesh had replenished it completely, and even left a surplus.
Buzz... Buzz... Buzz...
The Blood-Drinking Sword vibrated softly. It felt... close to breaking free from its restraints.
At the same time, Li Xiaofei could clearly sense that a stream of pure Immortal Force was flowing back from the blade, circulating through his body, nourishing and strengthening his physical form.
