Star Wars: Daimon's Story Chapter 72

On the ground, Trooper Greick, a human soldier within the Veldari Armed forces was firing his blaster rifle as he ducked behind cover. All around him, his fellow brother and sisters, Gen’Dai and humans fought side by side against the Abominor’s battle slaves. Unlike the battle slaves they encountered during the battle of N’varos, these were enhanced with cybernetics and various other droid enhancements. As he was crouched behind cover, a grenade landed to a few inches away from him. "Grenade!" he shouted as he dove a few feet away alongside the other soldiers around him. But as a few seconds passed there were no explosions. That’s when Trooper Greick heard the sound of Lieutenant General Vorrum roaring and throwing the grenade straight back at the droids, where it detonated killing and injuring almost a dozen battle slaves. Running through the smoke, Vorrum grabbed a battle slave by the head and used his body as a ragdoll to beat the other battle slaves around them. Seeing this, one of the officers shouted at the others, "UP! Move up you bastards!" Greick jumped to his feet, following the General into the smoke filled no man’s land in front of them. Around them the ground was filled with the remains of dead battle slaves and shredded Abominor bodies. The front line now motivated by Vorrum’s appearance, charged forward to push the enemy back. Behind them, tanks started to roll forward and Imperial battle droids also joined the battle. In the air above, Imperial gunships flew across the sky, pounding enemy positions as the frontline advanced. The fight was total chaos. For every battle slave that fell, two more seemed to appear, at least according to Greick’s adrenaline-accelerated perception. He kept pace with the Gen’Dai soldiers, firing until his power pack clicked empty, then slapping in a fresh one on the run. At some point, his helmet comm squawked with the voice of Admiral Gaius, "Orbital batteries are clear! Dropship waves incoming! Prepare for allied insertions, all units hold current lines!" The officers shouted for them to hold as they set up a new defensive line right where they stood. In the next few minutes, dozens of Imperial dropships flew overhead, landing behind Imperial lines. Greick barely had time to breathe before a full platoon of Tempestaris Ascendants swept through his position. They charged forward in their bulky armor, crushing all the battle slaves in sight. General Vorrum had the frontline hold fire per a request from the Commander of the Tempestaris Ascendants. He agreed and watched as the Tempestaris Ascendants took charge of the battlefield, giving his men some room to rest and recover. (Ascendants Image) - Varies by Legion Greick pulled off his helmet as the smoke began to clear. He steadied his breathing and looked at the carnage. The Tempestaris had cut a path straight into the enemy’s main line, each warrior moving more like a force of nature than an individual soldier. None showed even a hint of hesitation; some painted sigils on their armor as if the violence itself fueled their advance. Battle droids hurried forward to secure positions, pausing only to dismember fallen Abominor constructs and clear a path for armored transports to carry wounded and dead. Greick bent down to help a battered comms tech to her feet, half-hearing the chatter of friendly units on the comms. The battle, though not yet won, had shifted. "Clear zone forward three hundred meters for Tempestaris advance," came the order, rerouting gunships to another position. A few minutes later, the area that was designated was completely wiped out. Somewhere a Gen’Dai reprimanded his squad for overzealous grenade use on a battle slave. They had thrown the grenade at the slaves head, knocking him out and then threw 10 additional, ensuring that his body was completely vaporized. With the frontline secured and reinforced by the Tempestaris Ascendants, the battle for Jurnos rapidly swung in the Imperium’s favor. Admiral Gaius’s fleet dominated orbit, systematically destroying or capturing the remaining Abominor vessels attempting to flee the system. On the planet’s surface, the battlefield transformed from chaotic combat into a coordinated extermination. Under General Vorrum’s command, Imperial forces swiftly reclaimed critical locations and fortified positions. The Abominor battle slaves, already battered and demoralized by relentless Imperial assaults, rapidly collapsed without orbital support. Across Jurnos, surviving battle slaves surrendered in droves, overwhelmed by the Imperium’s relentless offensive. These prisoners were quickly detained and moved to secure holding facilities for later interrogation and rehabilitation. Meanwhile, remaining pockets of droids were hunted down by Imperial battle droids and specialized squads led by Ascendants. In orbit, Admiral Gaius directed the final maneuvers, systematically annihilating the enemy fleet. "Push forward! Leave none operational. Let this battle serve as a warning to any who dare invade our borders!" he commanded fiercely, standing proudly on the bridge of his flagship, watching as Imperial cannons reduced enemy ships to molten debris. Within an hour, the skies above Jurnos were clear. The enemy fleet, now a graveyard of shattered hulls and drifting wreckage, was thoroughly vanquished. Back on the ground, General Vorrum addressed his exhausted yet victorious troops. "Soldiers of the Imperium, today we have shown these mechanical abominations the true cost of challenging our might! The enemy lies broken, their strength scattered! But our fight is not yet over. Prepare for the next wave, reinforce your positions, and assist the wounded. Our victory today is just the first step toward the complete annihilation of these invaders!" Trooper Greick, breathing heavily, surveyed the aftermath. Smoke drifted lazily over scorched earth littered with fallen foes and heroes alike. He felt pride within his chest, knowing he’d contributed to this monumental victory. Around him, soldiers shared weary smiles and nods, unified by triumph and a shared sense of duty. High above, Admiral Gaius sent a communication directly to Daimon, "Your Highness, Jurnos is secured. The Abominor fleet has been obliterated, and the planetary invasion force is neutralized. Ground forces report minimal casualties and full control. The Imperium stands victorious." On Veldari, Daimon received the message, acknowledging it with a simple response: "Well done, Admiral. Consolidate our forces and continue your mission. The Abominor is unpredictable. Prepare for the next assault." Imperial holonews quickly broadcasted the victory at Jurnos, igniting a fervor of pride and unity across countless worlds. Citizens celebrated openly in the streets, their spirits bolstered by news of the Imperium’s decisive triumph. Jurnos wasn’t the only world. Admiral Riviax Cull and the 21st Fleet arrived at the storm filled, oceanic planet of Antheva in the midst of a planetary hurricane. Since Antheva didn’t have a planetary shield, the Abominor had battered the world’s surface with orbital bombardments, using the planet’s weather to mask and shield their landing waves. Admiral Riviax Cull stood on the bridge of his flagship observing the chaotic lightning and storm clouds below. Antheva’s relentless hurricanes obscured sensors and communications, complicating both offensive and defensive operations. Nonetheless, Admiral Cull was unphased, his cybernetic eyes looking through the chaotic data flooding his screens. "Initiate stormbreaker protocols," he commanded. Around him, the bridge crew immediately sprang into action. Across the fleet, specialized vessels moved forward, their hulls crackling with energy as they deployed massive, atmosphere-piercing ion beams. Within minutes, patches of storm clouds dispersed, temporarily clearing a corridor through the storm. Through these openings, Imperial fighters and bombers flew downward, swiftly targeting and obliterating Abominor landing craft caught unaware on the ocean’s surface. In response, the Abominor fleet repositioned themselves, trying to intercept and disrupt the Imperial assault. Thousands of Abominor fighters launched from their carriers and went to intercept Imperial ships and fighters. Battles ignited above and within the storm, the atmosphere lighting up with flashes of blaster fire and missile explosions. Admiral Cull maneuvered his flagship directly into the path of the enemy’s largest command vessel. "All batteries, focus fire on their flagship," he ordered. Massive cannons and missile tubes opened simultaneously, unleashing a torrent of destructive energy upon the Abominor command ship. The enemy vessel, despite its advanced shields and armor, buckled and eventually exploded, sending debris raining down into the raging storm below. Inspired by the destruction of the Abominor flagship, the Imperial fleet pushed aggressively, systematically isolating and overwhelming smaller enemy clusters. Onboard the Imperial carriers, squadrons of fighters coordinated with each other, launching devastating raids against critical enemy assets and rapidly dismantling enemy formations. On the ocean’s surface, the Abominor landing forces, disrupted and confused by the Imperial bombardments and loss of orbital support, faltered. Imperial marines, clad in specialized aquatic armor, launched assaults from beneath the waves, eradicating stranded enemy troops and sabotaging their landing craft. The battle raged fiercely for hours, the sky and sea both lit by continuous explosions and burning wreckage. Yet, the Imperial forces pushed the Abominor into retreat. Admiral Cull continued giving orders, continuously adapting tactics to exploit weaknesses exposed by the Abominor’s increasingly desperate maneuvers. Eventually, the Abominor fleet’s remaining vessels attempted to disengage and escape Antheva’s orbit. "Cut off their retreat," Cull ordered. Imperial ships swiftly repositioned, creating an impenetrable blockade, annihilating any vessel attempting to flee. As the storm below finally began to weaken, the surviving Abominor ships were either destroyed or disabled. Admiral Cull was filled with grim satisfaction across the fleet’s channels, "Antheva is secured. All units’ report status and regroup immediately." Back on Veldari, Daimon received Admiral Cull’s update with approval, knowing this was just one more victory in the larger war against the Abominor threat. Across the Imperium, news of another decisive victory reinforced the people’s resolve, further galvanizing their unity and determination to defeat the mechanical menace. On the other hand, Imperial intelligence had just discovered the location of an Abominor planet. This was massive victory by the Directorate and Daimon was informed immediately. After hearing about this discovery, and with the recent attacks on Imperial planets, Daimon decided to go on the offensive for once. He took a small portion of his fleet, number 10,000 ships, leaving the rest for defending the Imperium. It didn’t matter how many ships the enemy had, he was going to destroy them all in a matter of seconds using his strength as a Force God.
