Star Wars: Daimon's Story Chapter 60

A/N: This Chapter is showing a little of the social aspect of the Imperium, adding some flavor and insight into some of the social things within the Imperium. Walking into the hanger of the Imperial Palace, Daimon entered his transport shuttle which would take him to an interview he had with one of the news station on Veldari. This was something he often did in order to keep developing public relations with not just the Gen'Dai but all the other races that now lived within the Imperium. However, this particular news station he was going to was known for its constant pushing of republic ideals within his empire. Of course, none of these ideals were taken seriously, at least not by citizens. The news station had been thoroughly investigated and was found to have no ties to the Republic or any other organization. It was just a bunch of people who left the Republic and wanted to force their ideals within the Imperium. Sitting across from him was Progenitors, Nyssa Revar, the Grand Minister of Diplomacy, Kael Thoryn, the Grand Chancellor, and Telys Kaor, the High Magos of innovation. Nyssa was looking over the report about the news station to see what they could expect. She liked to be prepared for what she was going into, especially when it came to interviews. As she continued to read through the report, she began to shake her head. "We should just get rid of this news station; they provide no value to the Imperium at all." While this was true, Daimon got quite the entertainment out of them from hearing their bullshit ideals. He often tuned into their news station to see what nonsense they were talking about. "Yeah, they may provide no value, but they keep me quite entertained." replied Daimon. Kael chimed in next, "Plus, they hold no power at all. They simply exist because we allow them to. On the ImperiNet, they have less than 100 million followers." The ImperiNet was a platform used by almost all people of the Imperium to connect with others, stay up to date on laws, discover new places, etc. The core features consisted of the Citizen Forums, Imperial Broadcast Feeds, and Popularity Metrics & Data Tracking. Daimon's approval rating was 99.6% empire wide with 22 billion followers and several hundred billion views since its creation. Sample Post from the Broadcast Feed: "To conquer chaos is not cruelty, it is compassion without compromise. The stars demand order. I answer." šŸ‘ 12.9 Billion | šŸ” 4.7 Billion | šŸ’¬ 683 Million "I agree in that sense then. You guys know I'm just a very 'put our boot down' type of person." The others nodded, agreeing that she sometimes suggested some very aggressive actions. "Imagine if she was allowed to run internal security," Telys joked, causing the cabin to echo with laughter. "Half the Imperium would be turned into a military drill camp overnight." "Order through fire," Nyssa smirked, setting the data pad aside. "But let's just make sure they don't try to bait us into looking tyrannical on a broadcast." Daimon chuckled. "That's why you're here, Nyssa. Keep the rest of us from being too honest." Kael gave a respectful nod. "Still, it's good optics, my Lord. Showing up personally. You remind them you're not just a distant god ruling from orbit, you walk among them." "Exactly," Daimon replied. "Let them see my face and feel my presence." The shuttle descended into the broadcast district of Veldari Prime. Steel and glass towers mirrored the evening light, with the news station's building distinguished by its minimalist architecture from the Republic era, presenting a stark contrast to the nearby towering Imperial structures. As they landed, a full honor guard stood by, but Daimon waved them off. "No ceremony. Let's just walk in." Cameras turned immediately, already broadcasting live across the ImperiNet as the Emperor and his Progenitors stepped into the public lobby. Journalists and station personnel froze, not expecting the god-emperor to walk in without formal guards. Inside the studio, the lead anchor, Tevara Lys, an Inner-rim woman with synthetic eyes and a reputation for hard questions, stood and gave a graceful bow. "Your Divine Majesty," she greeted. "We are honored." Daimon gave a slight nod, then motioned. "Let's begin." The studio dimmed, lighting focused on the curved central couch where Daimon and the three Progenitors sat. Tevara sat across from them, data pad in hand, the broadcast overlay active. BEGIN LIVE IMPERIAL BROADCAST "The Voice of the Empire – Special Interview: The God-Emperor and the Progenitors" Tevara Lys: "Citizens of the Imperium, today we have a rare moment of clarity, joining us in the studio is none other than His Divine Majesty, Daimon, Sovereign of the Veldari Imperium, joined by three of the Progenitors. My Lord, thank you for joining us today." Daimon: "It's a pleasure, Tevara. Communication with the people is never beneath me." Tevara: "Let's begin with the current military operations in the outer colonies. There are reports of increased force deployments, curfews, and crackdowns. Some call it justice. Others call it occupation. How do you respond?" She jumped straight to the main topic that she wanted bring to light. Daimon: "Let me be very clear. When my daughter is attacked by criminals who think they can thrive in the shadows of lawlessness, they don't just challenge the Imperium. They challenge me. And the Imperium does not react lightly when challenged." Kael Thoryn: "This is not about control, it's about accountability. The pirates are part of a destabilizing effort, and we cannot afford to let chaos take root in any system." Tevara: "Some might argue that using orbital bombardments and other violent methods sends a brutal message. Is that truly necessary?" Nyssa Revar: "Brutality is a matter of perception. To those who live by honor and peace, our presence is a shield. To those who murder, raid, and endanger children? It is a sword." Telys Kaor: "And let's not forget the innovations we're deploying, not just weapons. We're rolling out hospitals, terraforming technologies, and sanctuaries. We are rebuilding these systems as much as we are enforcing order." Tevara: "You mention sanctuaries. Progenitor Malis Kaevor has initiated a spiritual resurgence in the outer colonies. Critics call it religious indoctrination. What is the purpose?" Daimon: "Faith is the glue of civilization. These people were once preyed upon by warlords and other factions. I offered them something more. Miracles, Healing, Structure, and Hope. Let them see what divinity in action looks like." Tevara: "But not all lower and non-citizens believe in your divinity. Some still hold to old values, freedom of expression, belief, governance. What place do those ideas have in the Imperium?" Daimon leaned forward for this question. Daimon: "Freedom? Yes. Freedom to thrive, to learn, to grow. But not the freedom to destroy. The Republic mistook freedom for a license to lie, to rot, to breed disorder. We give true liberty. The kind built on strength and vision. My vision." Tevara: "And what of dissent? What if people disagree with your rule?" Nyssa Revar: "They can disagree all they like. We don't punish thoughts. But actions? Treason? Sabotage? That's where our patience ends." Kael Thoryn: "And frankly, the numbers speak louder than any protest chant. Daimon's approval rating is nearly perfect. Over twenty-two billion citizens follow his guidance. That's not tyranny. That's unity." Tevara: "Let's shift briefly. The Imperium has existed for over a century now. Yet citizenship for migrated species is still quite a complicated process. How long until people who want to hold the same status as Imperial citizens are able to participate in the politics and other high areas of the Imperium?" She wanted to steer the conversation but saw that her tactics were not working. Daimon was reading her like an open book. Her questions were short-sighted and based on nothing but emotions and manipulation. Daimon: "Well as you know, the Gen'Dai are my species, and the Imperium was founded with the Gen'Dai as the main race. Other races are welcome and can earn their citizenship through the official way. That won't change any time soon nor will their entry into politics. Only places where we have integrated new species will be allowed to participate in politics." Tevara wasn't exactly happy with this answer. She expected him to say something that would sound good publicly, but then do another privately. There was nothing she could use from what they discussed to manipulate her audience. The remainder of the interview went just as Daimon expected. He steered the discussions and controlled the narrative. By the end she looked like a dog that thought it was about to receive a treat but instead got whipped. Stations were allowed to function in the inner worlds to show just how much freedom was given to the citizens of the Imperium.
