"I still do not get it." Vana mumbled as her head rested on his chest. Her ears twitched, brushing up against him. Her fur was nice against his bare skin.
Jace had to resist chuckling. "Tyrone is the name the former Grand Hexarian territories have for the planet. While Bastion is the name the Crystoph Federation has employed for the planet. There is a whole big story behind the two different names. But my point is that it is not the only planet with an alternate name."
"But why?" Vana brushed up against him.
"Because when you conquer a system and want them to submit to you, you want the enemy civilian population to not be as resistant. A good way is to destroy the local culture and history. Which is why planets will get renamed when a System is conquered. All to hide the previous history of the plane. I mean almost every planet in the Vexical Empire has an alternate name. Only reason they have numbers and 'Prime' is because it is easier to organize, especially after the fall of the Grand Hexarian Empire." Jace explained as his hand wandered under the sheet.
She yelped a moment later. "Stop, okay. I get it now-" She slapped his arm to stop him.
There was a loud noise followed by the lights in the room turning red. Then the ship wide speakers turned on with a crackle of noise. "All Spectres, report to Ready Room 1. Director Fenrir wants to communicate about some emergency missions. Code: Ragnarok."
As soon as Jace heard the code attached to it he quickly jumped out of bed causing Vana to yelp in surprise at his action. He pulled on a pair of shorts and then ran out of the room with a shirt in hand. He ran the hall in nothing but shorts and the shirt he was pulling on his bare feet slapping against the metal floor. He was not the only one as the others ran out in nothing but their underwear.
He moved past the elevator and instead ran down the stairs. The others quickly followed him. Arriving less than a minute later at Ready Room 1. Captain Hammers was waiting outside the door with a confused expression on his face.
"We arrived in the Vexical Empire's space less than a minute ago when I got the notice over the command channel. Do I need to be in there?" Hammers asked as he nodded at the Ready Room. Jace stopped by him for a moment.
"No, in fact, have all the neighboring rooms cleared." Jace then walked into the room. Followed by the others who were following behind him at a light jog. None of them were embarrassed at their barely clothed state of dress.
Once they were all inside, Jace tapped on the keypad by the door. After a few taps the door closed and the lights went red. Then there was a loud clunking noise as the door sealed tight. At the same time the subtle noise of the air flow turned off as the air vents were sealed as well. The entire room was sealed so no sound could escape the room under any circumstances. He walked down to the holotable as the others took up positions around the holotable. All of them were standing at attention like they were lined up in military lines.
Jace typed a code in the holotable. Then he stepped back and a moment later Director Fenrir appeared on the holotable.
"Spectres. I apologize for calling you immediately into another mission after finishing your last one. But we have an active situation that we need immediately resolved before it gets dire." Director Fenrir's image moved to the side while opposite of her three images of three different people appeared.
Jace sighed and shook his head while the others sucked in their breath. They were surprised by one of the people in question. Jace was less surprised but was still dreading this day, Fenrir had warned him ahead of time that this might happen.
"Jace and Nina, you will be heading to Vexical Prime to pick up these two. They are meeting to pass off some information. The information in question regards the safety of many members of the imperial family. Both of the individuals are considered traitors with an exceptional amount of information and training at their disposal." Director Fenrir waved her hand and the first two images lit up. "Since this will not just be another test for the weapons and armor that you have been using you can go without armor. Besides from what I understand the armor will just hold you back."
Jace and Nina saluted before relaxing. Jace stepped forward and copied a file that was on the holotable. Director Fenrir had sent it and encrypted it with an encryption that only the Spectres know about.
"The rest of you will be going after her." Director Fenrir waved her hand and the last image lit up while the other two faded back. "We want her alive. Keep in mind her training and bring nonlethal weapons in case she ends up resisting. She is located in the Sister System."
"How are we getting there? If the Anvil goes into either of the systems we will tip off our hands to these people." Jace pointed out. "They will know that something is up."
"That is why I sent two Puddle-Jumpers. They are on route with both the equipment and pilots necessary. They will arrive within the hour." Director Fenrir answered. "Once you have arrested the relevant parties you will take the Puddle-Jumpers to a classified prison ship. Your pilots will receive the location when you complete your mission."
"Can we know what crime they committed?" Spectre Dahlia asked as she nodded at the photos.
"They are members and spies for the Union. Which is why we need them alive. We determined that all of them are relatively high up on the food chain. They could all have information critical to locating other spies within the Vexical Military." Director Fenrir waved her hand again and the images disappeared. "Now get ready, and tell no one, of what you saw or heard in this meeting."
