"You have got to be kidding me." She walked into the ready room with her own team following behind her. She had been his competitor for being the commander in charge of the Spectres. Just like Nina she came in a close second but still ended up being weaker than him.
Spectre Dahlia walked down the stairs in the room full of pilots, officers, and others who were needed. As usual, her voice and presence almost seemed to demand everyone's attention.
"What is wrong this time Dahlia?" Jace asked with a roar of laughter while she walked down toward him. "We have not left Echo Base yet so it could not be that bad." They were getting refitted. They needed new parts so they could make a planetary landing with the Anvil. Not to mention the updated stealth technology that has appeared over the last few weeks.
"Oh please," Dahlia groaned as she took her seat. "The new Shock Trooper unit and my team were all supposed to be to publicity stunts throughout the nation to secretly garner more support. I am just annoyed that you are the reason our plans changed."
"So you aren't annoyed that your plans changed at all?" Jace asked as the others waved at him before taking their own seats.
"Of course not. It was boring having to do that shit. I am just annoyed that you were the reason our plans changed." Dahlia responded. "Now let's get this meeting started. I assume you have something fitting for the Shock Trooper Division."
Jace smiled before turning to the holotable and turning it on. "Now that you are all here we can get started. Ask questions after I am all done."
"After we are done getting refitted." Jace interrupted someone before turning on the first images. "We will be going into the Crystoph Federation. Using stealth to move into the territory we will move behind enemy lines. We should not encounter any issues with this since our technology is far superior to anything they are using. If we do encounter any issues on our way to our destination we will drop a jammer and either destroy the ship or board and disable it."
"What about after we are done?" One of the officers called out.
"We run." Jace shrugged. "On the return trip we will just run. There is no need to conceal ourselves or prevent the enemy from detecting us. Because the most difficult part will occur when we arrive at our destination."
On the holotable appeared several metal pods that most of the room recognized on sight. "When we arrive in orbit around the gas planet we will begin descending to make a planetary landing. We will be taking the entire planet. But before we land we need to take their surface to air weapons. Unfortunately we only have a rough idea of what the planet's layout is. Fortunately we have these…" Jace nodded at the hologram.
"Drop pods." Dahlia sighed, "you psycho."
Jace grinned madly. "Half of the Shock Troopers will drop along with all Spectres. It will be a blind drop that covers half of the planet we are dropping on. After we drop we will take all facilities we can find that provide a tactical advantage. At the same time the Anvil will drop a bunch of jammer satellites in orbit. They will also destroy any ships that try to leave. When the ground forces verify their control of the planet the Anvil will land."
"After the Anvil lands all hell will break loose as we make our mozes to accomplish our goals. The Spectres are each going to be assigned a different task that the other troops will be able to assist with. When you land there are no assigned units. Instead you will group up around the Spectres as commanders. After the Anvil begins to make landfall the Spectres will head to their assigned objectives." Jace explained as he took a moment to crack his neck. "Any questions yet?"
"Do you mean we will be treating this as an invasion during a war?" One of the officers asked.
"Yes, we will. But we will not be occupying the planet. Instead as soon as the Spectres complete their objectives we will be completely pulling out. When the Anvil lands the normal soldiers will take the positions that the Spectres had occupied." Jace explained.
"Do we coordinate with the Anvil if there are issues?" Another officer asked.
"No, because of the jammers it will not be possible aside from a high frequency message. Instead you will coordinate short range with Spectres or higher ranking officers. Short range radio transmissions will still be viable." Jace explained as he pulled up the next image on the holotable. "Any more questions?" He waited a moment before nodding.
"Next we have the Spectre's objectives. Spectre Nina is up first. She will be in charge of making a copy of all enemy research data. Then destroying all original files." Jace pointed to a device that appeared on the holotable. "Afterwards she will return to the Anvil to assist in defense."
"How am I getting the information?" Nina asked as she raised her hand.
"Taylor will be going with you and you both will be carrying a device that will instantly download and destroy data." Jace nodded at the holographic image.
"Next we have Spectre Dahlia, she will be in charge of destroying any prototypes found on the planet. You will have to wait for the Anvil to land if you want the explosives or you can find something planet side you can use." Jace explained. "Since your mission is more broad you will be required to operate more troops, I would suggest you set up a temporary command post." Spectre Dahlia only gave a thumbs up in response
"Spectre Karlson, I want you to find the enemies main operating base and other important facilities or VIPs and provide the intel to the other groups. It will be important when we will undoubtedly need to improvise." Jace told them before tapping the holotable, pulling up the image of a bunch of books.
Karlson spoke up before he could continue. "Should I assume I will be getting a list of VIPs and those facilities?"
"As well as their approximate or suspected location. But we cannot trust the source so we are not taking it at face value." Jace nodded before he continued. "Spectre Anja, someone like Lord Hoodwink will likely keep a hardcopy of all his notes. I want you to find them and secure them. If you cannot secure them, make certain they are destroyed. Last thing we want is some nut job in the Crystoph Federation getting a hold of the psychopaths' data."
"Oooo… does that mean I get to run around fighting the enemy and stealing books. Sounds fun." Anja clapped giddily as she kicked her legs in excitement. She was the shortest but by far the fastest of all the Spectres. She was a difficult opponent to deal with in combat.
"Next up is Spectre Dominic," Jace brought up another image. This one was of a bomb that was theoretical until yesterday when Jace leant his expertise and made it viable. "You will plant six of these bombs around the planet and keep them hidden. Once that is done you will return to the Anvil and send a message telling everyone that you completed your objective. Make certain you do not mention the bombs."
Dominic gave a thumbs up but stayed silent. Dahlia on the other hand spoke up, "What will you be doing?"
"Hunting." Jace responded. "I will be hunting down Lord Hoodwink. As such I will be entering the deepest part of the facility and killing everyone I can."
"After the objectives are completed we will be doing a complete evacuation. No one is to be left behind, not even their bodies. Afterwards we will leave the planet and then destroy it. We will then come straight back to the empire. Any questions?" Jace asked as he turned off the holotable. There was a moment of silence before Jace nodded and grunted, "then get everything ready. You have your orders."
"Man, it sounds like we are going to get to go all out. We have not done that since our last month of training." Dahlia stretched as she walked away. Jace shook his head. It reminded him of his stats and the fact that they reached a wall in his growth.
