"Well this is unfortunate." Jace pointed out as he glanced around the corner for a moment before quickly back behind the door frame.
Wood shattered and the wooden shrapnel went everywhere. A chunk of the door frame disappeared. As the bullet flew through and embedded itself in the door on the other side. Cracks spiderwebbed throughout the door.
"Who the hell are you morons? A rival gang? The police? No, neither of them would be stupid enough to come at me head on. They know how much influence I hold in both the government and local police." Qwan Lee growled out. "So who are you-"
Jace dashed around the corner.
The first shot went just behind him and hit the wall. His second shot was aimed ahead of Jace but he sidestepped it as he closed the distance so it missed and smashed into a couch throwing up cotton and feathers.
Jace grabbed the bottom of the hand cannon and using his upward momentum as his other hand went to uppercut him threw the gun out of his hand. His fist on the other hand only grazed the side of his face as Qwan Lee started dodging to the side.
As he dodged he rolled toward a coffee table and kicked it toward Jace. It blocked Jace's view for a moment but he dashed toward the table and slammed it to the side with his left hand sending it into the doorway he came in from. It slammed into the wall with a loud crash.
Qwan Lee's eyes widened in surprise and his heartbeat sped up. "Fuck! A nanohuman." He turned to the balcony and began running towards it. "That means you are probably from those cowards in the Empire of Vexical."
Jace grinned madly as the ground cracked under his feet as he raced forward. "Oh come now. You should have known we would come for you one of these days!" Jace called out as he gave chase.
Qwan Lee crashed through the balcony door and then propelled himself off the railing. Not stopping to even open the door. He jumped through the air and onto the roof of the building on the opposite side of the street.
This area of New Osaka were mostly residential buildings and were only two or three level buildings. The one he jumped from and onto was two-levels. All the roofs in the area had red tiled slanted roofs. A classical design that seemed to be more like a style requirement than a choice in this area.
Jace followed him out of the room and jumped off of the balcony. He was a few steps behind Qwan Lee when he suddenly disappeared for a moment. Jace could just barely follow the man's rapid movement. But he could see swirls in the air as he moved and a moment later there was a sonic boom that also slowed him down for a moment with the resulting air currents.
Jace frowned for a moment as he followed him along the roof until he suddenly jumped over another street and onto another roof that was running parallel to this one. As he jumped it looked like he was going to land short but suddenly jumped again and Jace could make out a spot in the air that almost looked solid.
Qwan Lee landed on the roof and looked back at Jace with a grin that quickly disappeared. His grin disappeared because Jace had leaped clear over the gap and was about to land. Qwan Lee quickly spun around and began running again.
But Jace grabbed his arm before he could get far enough. Qwan Lee quickly spun around and landed a punch right into Jace's face hitting him on the nose. Jace tightened his grip on Qwan Lee's arm.
Jace turned his head back and glared at Qwan Lee. "Hey now, you really should be more-" He did not get a chance to finish speaking as the air around them felt heavier and then he could feel the push on him downwards. It was not gravity, it was air pressure.
Jace tightened his grip as he was pushed down off the slanted roof and down into the street by the air pressure. The tiles began cracking and breaking and fell down with them. "Ahh! What the hell? Let go!" Screamed Qwan Lee as he was dragged down with Jace.
They fell down onto a passing bus. There was a screech and creaking as they landed on the bus. There was a pop below and the air pressure disappeared. But the damage to the bus was already done.
Qwan Lee was hanging off the side of the bus after he slid off of it. Jace was holding him up by the wrist he was still gripping. Qwan Lee's wrist had gone purple from the bruising and damage.
Jace pulled himself off the roof of the bus while Qwan Lee hung below him. He jumped down off the bus and Qwan Lee screamed in pain as his body slammed into the ground. Jace brought Qwan Lee's hands behind his back and then pulled out a pair of cuffs that he put on Qwan Lee.
"Damn it, you could have been a bit gentler with me." Qwan Lee complained as he winced in pain. His wrist and arm were broken while he probably had many fractures throughout his body.
"Why should I?" Jace asked as he groaned and stood up. Pulling the fugitive up with him. Then he cracked his neck as onlookers whispered. Jace walked up to the front of the bus where there was a robotic driver. "Is everyone okay?" He asked as he dragged Qwan Lee with him.
"Umm… yes sir. More importantly, are you okay? There is a person sized dent in the roof of my bus. It may be public transport but still it is made of metal." The robot pointed out. Motioning to the dent in the roof of the bus.
Jace shrugged as he started walking away, "I am fine." He started walking down the street while dragging along a limping Qwan Lee. "Now let's get back to the others."
"You damn minion of the empire." Qwan Lee started grunting. "Haven't you ever wanted more? Wealth? Power? Maybe even your own position and place in the world? That is all I did, was that so wrong?" Qwan Lee demanded as Jace walked down the street. As they rounded the corner he could see several emergency response vehicles racing down a street further down.
"Well that looks like things got heated up over at your bar. Do you think it is burning down?" Jace asked with a chuckle as Qwan Lee kept resisting being dragged down the street.
"You bastard. Don't you know who I have backing me? Not to mention my connections. It will be chaos as I-" He did not finish speaking as a black van pulled up in front of them into the alleyway.
Jace blinked for a moment and then grinned when the door slid open to reveal Vana's ensemble. "Need a ride?"
Jace pushed Qwan forward into the van. Vana grabbed him and tossed him into the vehicle. "Thanks. How did things go at the bar? Hope I did not leave too difficult of a situation for you two to deal with."
"That went as well as I thought it might. You foreigners really are reckless. You intentionally instigated a fight so you could take Qwan Lee by force." The shinobi pointed out as Jace climbed in and closed the door.
Jace could hear something and quickly grabbed Qwan Lee's ankle and then snapped it. "AAARRRGGGHH!" He screamed in pain as Jace broke Qwan Lee's ankle and then dropped it. The foot fell limp with no support.
"Do not do that again." Jace told Qwan Lee as he groaned in pain and shifted slightly on his side. "How about the kid I sensed in the basement?"
"Umm…It looks like they just finished moving a bunch of kids out of the basement and kidnapped that one as the first one of the next batch. We left the child and the criminals with the undercover officer. Then we left, taking one of their vans at the first chance we got." Vana explained as she flipped Qwan on his front and secured him so he would not try to attack again.
"Yeah… how did you get a van? I do not remember seeing one on the street." Jace pointed out as the van pulled back and then began racing down the street. They were heading in the direction of the spaceport.
"This black van pulled up out front just as we could hear gunshots upstairs. It had about five more people we had to deal with." The shinobi answered from the front seat. "After we knocked out all of them we left them with the undercover officer. Apparently they were closing in on Qwan Lee anyways. He actually asked me to turn him over regardless of what reason we had for going after him."
"Yeah… seems he has a bunch of local police and other officials in his pocket. But you guys will have to negotiate with the officer in charge of detaining him." Jace told the Shinobi quickly, getting a glare from Vana to which he just shrugged in response.
"I figured as much. But first we should get him off the planet. There is no telling how many people will try to break him out because of the corruption on our planet." The shinobi agreed as he drove toward their destination.
